Chapter 15

Seeing this I couldn't help but inwardly sigh; I initially planned to act like a normal human who found her lying on the street and brought her home, how could I forget that she would still remember my scent. I ignored her question and said in a calm voice.

"You have two options and that is, either to work with me or you can become my food right now. I don't mind any. Your fate is up to you to decide. So which one do you want?"

The girl was scared by my words which carried no emotions and hesitated for quite a bit.

"What would I need to do?" she said after making up her mind.

"Nothing much, you would just be being monitored by me from now on, that is you'll have to stay here and from the way you're dressed I believe you don't have parents or anyone to support you, do you?" I asked.

She shook her head and looked down without saying anything. Seeing that my temperament melted a bit...sigh.

"Since you don't have any problems then go and freshen up first, you're covered in blood from yesterday," I said while passing her one of my shirts which I don't wear much and shorts along with a towel.

While she was in the washroom I sat on my bed and looked at my phone to pass my time, since it's in silent mode always so I didn't notice that Hide had messaged me this morning asking how I'm doing and how long till I finish my work to which I replied that I'm doing fine and would take some more time to finish it.

Hide also reminded me of a certain task I need to do before meeting him again. After a few minutes, the girl came out wearing my shirt that reached almost to her knee cap and my shorts, her short black hair was still wet with few drops of water still on them, her face had an oval shape that suited her short hair and lastly...the mole beneath her lower lip.

She came out of the washroom and slowly glanced at me wanting to say something but too nervous to do it. I pointed at my computer chair and then gestured for her to sit on it after bringing it in front of me with my palms.

"Let's start with your self-introduction", I said but after noticing her nervous state I shook my head and asked the important questions that I wanna know.

"Why didn't you used your Kagune last night?

"I-I'm unable to use my Kagune since birth... no matter how much of a dangerous situation I'm placed in...the Kagune doesn't appear," she said while hesitating.

"Well, you sure are lucky to not be consumed by ghouls who want to become powerful considering how weak a normal ghoul without a Kagune is when compared to a ghoul with a Kagune. So how long have you been living in the 20th ward?" I asked.

"It's my 2nd day in the 20th ward today. After my parents passed away I used to live with my uncle but the ghoul investigators in the 15th ward somehow caught the wind of our whereabouts and, we were caught, my uncle was forced to fight with his life in order to give me an opening to escape. I've been escaping for 2 weeks now and reached the 20th ward yesterday only, I was unable to control my hunger anymore and looked for easy kills at night and after that, I met you.."

She gave a detailed answer, was too scared to hide them from me I suppose.

"Did the investigators saw your face?" I asked curiously.

She shook her head, to which I sighed internally and asked

"Lastly, What's your name?"

"N-Nanami Watashobi", she said while being a bit surprised not expecting me to ask for her name.

"Nice to meet you Nanami chan, you'll be living with me and following my orders from now on, Don't worry I'll treat you well provided you won't do anything stupid that would lead me to kill you in future," I said while smiling.

To which she nodded vigorously like an innocent child.

"I'll be heading out now to take some common household things for you along with some clothes for you as well, I expect you to stay inside the house and not go anywhere else until I return. You can watch T.V, to pass your time."

I said to her while leaving the house as she glanced at my back before going back inside to lie down on her mattress, immersing herself in her thoughts.
