3 Mana > Cursed Energy

After arriving in the universe of Young Justice, Victor kept to his plan of leaving through the shadows. That way, fewer people would know he existed, especially the League. If he did anything right now, Batman, the insane man, would know about it.

For all of his codes, Batman was without question insane. He was so untrusting that he uploaded a virus into Cyborg the day they met in Injustice that was needed. He even made the Failsafe in case he got killed.

As such, Victor decided to stay out of trouble and in the shadows, figuratively and literally. Rather than running through the city at hypersonic speeds, he and Yami shadow-traveled out of it.

A dark shadow moved like a snake along the streets into the shadows of people, buildings, and cars. One of the powers granted to him by Canis Lykaon was the ability to control and travel through the shadows. The best part was that Victor and Yami could use their senses normaly, even inside the shadows.

The plan was to leave Central City, Missouri, to travel south to Texas. Victor had been born in Dallas, so he knew the city like the back of his hand. He also didn't remember any big villains or heroes in Dallas, where he could train in peace away from the League and Light.

However, before he left, he seemed to have a chance to make money. As he and Yami were shadow-traveling past an alleyway, he saw three guys dragging a teenage girl into the alley.

'Yami, let's have some fun, shall we.'

'WOOF!'

They shadow warped into the shadow of one of the dudes who pushed the girl against the wall. He grabbed her by the wrists with a twisted look on his face.

"Where are you going, baby? You got to have some fun with us first."

"NO!"

The girl tried to struggle, but the thugs laughed at her. As he held her wrists, his two friends began to feel her up, starting with her legs.

"Hot damn, for a high schooler, she has some knockers on her."

His friend reached out and grabbed them.

"DAMN! You are right."

The girl began crying, hoping for The Flash, the hero of Central City, to come to her aid. However, Victor jumped out from the shadows with a cold look on his face. Although he had not been a trained killer in his past life, he didn't feel the hesitation he expected.

'Yami, dagger me.'

'Woof.'

Yami created a large black dagger in his right hand as he ordered. With blinding speed, he swung his dagger just once, and in that swing, he cleaved the heads off the three would-be rapists.

The girl had her eyes closed, but when she heard the sound of the wind being slashed, she expected The Flash to have heard her. However, when she opened her eyes, she didn't see him. She saw Victor holding a black dagger in his right hand and a small puppy in his left.

She was about to look down, but Victor stopped her.

"Don't look down."

"O-ok, I-I won't."

He dropped his dagger, causing it to burst into shadows. He grabbed her shoulder and began to drag her out of the ally. She winced from the grip he had on her shoulder.

"That hurts."

"Good, that means you are alive and unraped."

When they reached the street, he pushed her gently out of the alley and into the street.

"Now go."

He turned around and walked back to the corpses.

"THANK YOU!"

"You're welcome. Now go home."

Not wanting to stick around, she did as he said and ran to her house. As for Victor, he put Yami down as he walked over to the three headless thugs.

"Yami, your blades cut souls, right?"

The black dog nodded, meaning that he had probably destroyed their souls. Rather than feeling bad, he kneeled, careful not to get blood on his shoes. He reached into the pockets of the bodies and pulled out three wallets.

The three of them had a total of around 545 Dollars. He put all the money into one of the wallets and placed it in his back pocket. He placed his hands in his pockets before walking out of the alley.

"Yami, you can use fire right now?"

Yami opened his mouth and took a deep breath. From his little mouth emerged a stream of black flames with a bright red core that fell on the bodies. In a flash, Yami incinerated them, leaving no trace of the three would-be rapists.

"Convenient. Let's go."

Yami jumped into Victor's arms and fell into the shadows together. Once more, they continued their escape from Central City. When Victor and Yami left the border of Central City, they emerged from the shadows together.

Victor began to stretch as Dallas was around 200 miles south. At his top speed, he could move at around Mach 5, which was insanely fast but not Flash fast. In Young Justice, Barry and Bart could move near the Speed of Light.

That was Mach 874,030, meaning they were 174,806 times faster than he was. However, compared to Kid Flash, who was a joke in Young Justice, Wally could only approach the speed of sound. Victor was five times faster than Kid Flash at his base without control of mana or further training.

'At the speed of sound, moving a mile would take 5 seconds. I am 5 times faster than that, so 1 second per mile. 200 miles, so I will get to Dallas in 3 minutes and 20 seconds at my top speed.'

Victor began to jump in place, excited to use his speed. Yami jumped into the air and grabbed his shoulder. Victor grinned as he stepped forward with his right foot, smashing it into the concrete, leaving a pothole.

He did the same with his left foot as he leaned forward. He took a deep breath and kicked off the ground, causing a massive sonic boom as he broke the sound barrier. However, his eyes widened as he was not Mach 5.

He was even faster, but it was so damn fast that it looked like he was moving about 10 miles every second.

'WHAT THE FUCK!'

Victor kept his focus up as he ran at his top speed, making him look like a blur. Every second, he traveled 10 miles, and thanks to his heavily enhanced senses, he could perfectly control his run so he didn't run into buildings, cars, people, or anything else in his way.

At the 20-second mark, he reached Dallas, but he made sure not to stop running downtown and rather stop in one of the suburban neighborhoods. When he finished his run, he exhaled deeply as he was insanely shocked.

Just as he was going to question that speed, he felt Eldir speak to him.

'I gave you an upgrade, felt you needed it. If you want to thank me, Gamble a little.'

Victor knew that Toji never won in gambling and didn't want to end up broke like him.

'Thanks anyway.'

He dusted himself off a little while Yami was still on his shoulder. The dog seemed not bothered by their high-speed run and seemed to enjoy it from the big dog smile he had, which made Victor grin.

"I can admit to it being fun."

"BARK!"

Victor scratched the dog under the chin before walking with his hands in his pockets. Now that he was near where he grew up as a kid, he realized that Dallas of Young Justice seemed no different than he remembered.

Some parts were crap, others were rather nice, and he had lived in the better part. He sped up his run a little into a quick jog, which for him was superhumanly fast. He eventually managed to find where he used to live as a kid.

Though the house there was different, it seemed to be up for rent. He smirked as he didn't have to pay.

"Like hell, I am paying."

He jumped the spiked rolling fence before he walked toward the front door. From the look, the house had two rolling fences, enough room for three cars, and even a backyard.

He and Yami fell into the shadows and moved under the door before entering the house. Once he was inside, he unlocked the door and began to explore. Yami jumped off his shoulder to do the same, and together, they checked it out, finding that it had four bedrooms, two restrooms, a living room, a kitchen, and three closets.

"Now, this is a house."

He would need to wait for the landlord to come to the property to threaten him with death if he didn't give him ownership. Until then, he made himself at home, which was tricky because the house was empty and without furniture.

Victor sighed as that would be annoying, but he would manage. Rather than focus on that, he walked into the master bedroom and sat on the floor. Yami followed him and sat down in front of him.

Victor ran his hand down the small puppy as he decided to take the time to begin learning.

"How do I tap into mana?"

Through a series of barks and thoughts, the dog began to explain how Victor could access it. Having a Longinus like Canis Lykaon meant their soul-bound mana was already in his body.

He had to focus and start to control it. Only Victor had not had a quiet moment to focus, so he had just been relying on Yami to use his powers. Hearing that made Victor very happy, as Mana was way better energy than Cursed Energy.

Overall, Cursed Energy sucked as it was limited in what it could do. With mana, he could, in theory, replicate any Innate Technique from JJK with spells. RCT could be replaced with healing magic, Dismantle could be accomplished with wind magic, and The Limitless through space and time magic.

"Alright then, first things first, I should get a feel for my mana."

Yami jumped into his lap as Victor decided to focus. He crossed his legs and held his hands together in front of his stomach. He closed his eyes and focused internally. The Heavenly Restriction heightened the five senses to their absolute peak.

He focused on those senses, his instincts, and his and Canis Lykaon's soul bond. Yami also closed his eyes and focused on his end of the link as they synchronized their senses.

Victor combined his enhanced senses with Yami's magical senses through this synchronization. This allowed him to feel the mana flowing inside his body and the earth quickly enough.

He focused on that mana, and he began to bring it under control. He felt it flow through his entire body, causing his already powerful body to feel even stronger. In only a few minutes, he did what would take Tobio, the original wielder considered a genius, a few days.

His entire body was shrouded in a dark black aura, and when he opened his eyes, they were glowing a deep red in the darkness. Victor raised his hands, and his mana naturally became black because of Lykaon.

He squinted his eyes as he focused on compressing the mana flowing around him, causing the aura of darkness to compress around him.

'Mana skin, right?'

Yami opened his eyes as Victor dispelled the aura of darkness. From the look on his face, Yami was happy that Victor had unlocked his mana. This would speed up his growth rate, and his full power would be unlocked when that happened.

Victor was also happy because, as a kid, he had always wanted to use magic. He had already eliminated the main weakness of most mages and wizards, as their bodies were a liability. With Canis Lykaon and his Heavenly Restriction, his body was far from a liability. It was going to be his greatest strength.

"Let's get this under control, shall we?"

"Bark."

Together, they synchronized their senses again as Victor began to train his mana control. For now, he focused on controlling the mana flow in his body. This way, he could use Mana Reinforcement on instinct, making him even faster and stronger.

After he got this ability down, he would begin to train the powers given to him by Lykaon.

(Hitting a Black Flash with Mana rather than Cursed Energy sounds awesome. it be a good way to enter the zone and get closer to Mana)
