What Needs To Be Done

Lucifer could see his elder sister Victoria emerging from the bushes. 

Honestly speaking he was wary of her, if someone was watching you during a fight and then suddenly appears after you are tired and bruised, off course any one would be wary even if it is one of their family member.

In great houses assassination plots against your siblings was a common occurrence. 

Lucifer had the same thought in his mind, so he secretly channeled his mana with a little aura into his sword to defend himself in case his sister decided to attack him.

Defeating her was a different thing altogether. She was a level 50 peak powerhouse, while he had just started his training a few hours ago. 

There was no comparison in their power levels. But this did not stop Lucifer from attempting to protect himself, because bullying the weak and cowering before the strong wasn't his style.

As Victoria approached Lucifer she could see the hesitation and wariness in his eyes. At first she could not understand the reason behind it but then a sudden realization stuck her and she stopped dead on her track.

With a stuttering tone she tried to mutter, "I..I didn't meant to follow you. It was just that I had seen you travelling towards the forest, so I thought that you might need my help with levelling up or.....''

"Or....do you seriously expect me to believe something like that. You were literally hiding in those bushes waiting for my fight with that damn Orc to come to an end and then what.....Were you planning to kill me after I was tired fighting it. 

You might be desperate to end my life, so it would be easier for you to become the next heir to the house...Am I right Victoria.''

"No, no you are mistaking me... you can ask mom or Alicia or even John, I really came here to help you." 

"But I don't remember asking for your help, so what exactly were you trying to help me with."

"It....I was just...what problem do you have with me...can't I just come to take a look at my brother, or do you think me as some monster who just goes on killing their siblings for some position or power.''

"That is indeed a questionable argument, a girl with dreams as high as you might indeed do something like that..." Lucifer said in a cold voice, with a face devoid of any emotions. 

Hearing this there was a lump in Victoria's throat as she tried to gather up her emotions, which were turning into tears, threatening to spill from her eyes. 

But she controlled herself, she couldn't show such a vulnerable face to anyone, even if it is her family. She was a Lady of House Faldia, and had to maintain a conduct befitting a noble.

She used her mana to suppress the rapid beating of her heart and cooled her mind so as to reply confidently, and then said in a dignified tone, ''It seems my worries were unaccounted for, and you seem to be doing well so I shall take my leave."

And with a heavy heart she left the place. 

In all honesty she wanted to hug her brother, apologise to him for her past mistakes and destroy this invisible barrier that had formed between them over the years. She wanted to help him grow strong, train him and live like a happy family.

Was it too hard for the gods to bless her such a simple, easy going life with no worries. 

Cursing her fate she left the forest to the mansion, with a strong determination to mend all the past mistakes and forge a new, happy future.
