A Katana?

The class had begun with Arthur instructing everyone about the different weapons that can be used for battle.

Our task was to choose a weapon of our choice. 

At first I felt bored to participate in this basic training, but then a thought struck me.

If I have to showcase myself as someone strong, someone not to be trifled with, then this was the ideal place.

All the important people have been gathered in this hall.

I am thinking of building a mercenary group or what you can call an organization to do all my biddings. To achieve it I have to find capable and loyal people, and what better place can there be other than this.

I went to the section where all types of swords were displayed. There were short swords, daggers, long broadswords, even a katana was displayed at the top of the section.

I really find it stupid, people with physique like a 10 year old child were using long sword for training.

I mean even someone with basic understanding of combat can tell that the long broadswords are only meant for strong and sturdy people. They are special for their raw power to disperse the enemy's fighting rhythm.

But for skilled sword arts they are the least suitable weapon.

Well, for a fact , it doesn't concern me... I should better find my own weapon. 

I think a katana or narrow end sword would suit me. These curved shaped ones are no good either. For practice let's see how the katana goes. 

Depending on the skill level of the bearer it can be a terrific weapon to use, with it's acute precision and deadly strikes. 

This one would be the best, lucifer thought as he picked up a mid-sized katana from the upper section.

Arthur was silently observing all the students as they were choosing their weapons to fight.

Some already had a weapon in their hands, and by the looks of it , appeared quite skilled.

These were obviously the heir to different houses and the members of royal family.

Zeke chose a long sword with curves around it's blade, while Diana took a staff in her hands, showing her proficiency in magic.

Mira had chose a large bow compared to her petite figure.

All of their weapons felt like a part of them, which showed their training in their respective field of combat.

Azief a relative to Saint Kaizer wielded two short swords, with the one in his dominant right hand slightly larger than the other one.

Many other nobles too preferred weapons they were familiar with. 

The only problem was with the commoners in the hall. For many of them, it was their first time seeing such a wide variety of real weapons before their eyes.

Not knowing the pros and cons of each of these weapons, they chose different weapons, just to fulfil their curiosity.

Arthur knew that he had to help these students and ingrain the knowledge of different weapons in their brains, but felt that it could be done after the sparing session.

After having a practical of using the weapons in their hands these students would themselves come to know the benefits and disadvantage of using them.

 As Arthur was scanning his surrounding for the progress made by the students, his focus remained on a single boy with black hairs and an aura of coldness around him.

Arthur could see lucifer eyeing all the weapons in the hall, while his expressions changed from time to time after witnessing some students choosing long broadswords as their primary weapons.

A hint of mockery could be seen in the cold depths of his golden eyes.

After rummaging through all the weapons his eyes seem to have settled on a mid-sized katana.

The boy took the katana in his hands and was scanning it's surface from top to bottom.

After what seemed like eternity he registered the katana under his name and went towards the sparing area, waiting for the session to begin.

The way in which he was holding the katana, was a plain giveaway showing his lack of knowledge regarding the weapon.

What surprised Arthur was that the heir to house Faldia was known for using a plain sword without any curves, and here he was choosing an entirely different weapon.

For someone who looked cold, mysterious and cunning, this seemed like a foolish choice. So what made him choose a katana over his sword?

Arthur's curiosity got the better of him, and he decided to test lucifer in the times to come...
