To Truly be Alive is knowing what pain is

After having a nice long rest, I drowsily woke up from a prickly pain in my chest. It's as if, 100 needles are poking and prodding me relentlessly.

My immediate action is to grab my chest and roll around on my bed, hoping for the pain to fade away. after a couple of minutes, the pain started to fade away

"What was that" I questioned in sweats *sigh* I should probably get my bearings and gain more knowledge about this world; I can't exactly go guns blazing, or I'll get myself killed

"So there are other races besides humans, and if you join a Guild, you'll gain a blessing from your god or goddess, which explains how Ryva could survive that fatal blow," I said, sitting on my bed.

"Guess I'll bathe and get ready. There should be a library in Swiftpoint", I guessed. I mean, what kind of city doesn't have a library, and from what Ryva said during our time in the Tower, I should probably apply for an Adventure license? I thought

A couple of minutes later~

I stepped out of my room, walking to the main dining room to get a meal. I looked around and walked towards an open table, and sat down.

"Good morning love, what are you having today," a Waiter asked

"I"ll just take the breakfast platter, please," I replied

As I waited for my meal, I decided to circulate my Energy inside my body, getting used to using magic

My main objective is to figure out the risk and rewards of being an adventurer and try and find a Guild to join. Another thing is to train more; with this being a world of gods and magic, there will most likely be hostile's, and I definitely won't lay down and let them get their way with me.

"Here you go, hope you enjoy it," the waiter said, passing me my meal

"Thank you," I replied

After finishing my meal, I left the Iron Heart Inn to familiarize myself with the city; you know what? I'm pretty sure the Quartermasters will give me more information about the Tower, and ill be able to get my Adventurers license, so I'm killing two birds with one stone.

"This should be it," I said as I looked at a large building called the Quartermasters. I pushed open the twin doors and headed towards the reception area.

"How can I help you, Ms" replied an Elf?

"I was wondering if I can apply for an adventurer's license, and I have some questions you can hopefully answer," I asked.

"Of course. My name is Faelyn Aelar. Nice to meet you before you apply for a license. I want to remind you that being an adventurer isn't a fun game; you will have to face risks that could lead you to your unfortunate death. And Sorry for being on your case, but it's my job to remind people who aspire to be an adventurer of the risk included in the job". Explained Faith.

"No, it's fine, get it," I replied

"Alright, since you know the risk included in the job, here are the papers you will need to sign," Faith said, passing the contract to me.

I looked over the contract reading the clauses and TOS, and finally signed the contract with my name; after signing the contract, I passed it back to Faelyn

"Thank you, Skyler Lochart, and here you go as she hands me a license with my name and age. I'm guessing that rank F is the lowest," I questioned, noticing that the card is holographic like the Monster cards I played with as a kid.

"Your assumptions are correct; the ranks go from F to SS. To upgrade your rank, you will need to complete a set of Quests; another way is to kill monsters in the Tower and show us their Crystals and proof of the kill". Faelyn said

"You can pick up any quest from F-D, and once you choose one, bring it back to me, and i"ll stamp it for approval. The quest board is in the main hall. You won't miss it," Faelyn said

"Thank you for everything," I said and walked towards the main hall. Wow, this place is massive as I stand before the quest board

Now let's see,

Rank-D

{Kill 25 Goblins acquire their teeth}

{Located:1st-2nd floor}

{Reward:20 gold, 2x health potion}

This seems reasonable, I thought to myself and took it off the board to bring it back to Faelyn

"You chose one, it seems; let's see D rank, alright, ill keep this, and once you kill 20 goblins and collect their fangs and crystals, you can bring them back to me, and ill give you your reward", Faelyn said

Once I got everything prepared, I started to head towards the Tower while taking in the scenery of the city everything just looks beautiful. A few minutes later, I made it to the Tower entrance *sigh* I got this, I told myself.

I walked inside slowly, finally coming to grips with what I was doing.

*Guha Guah* *Shriek*

I narrowed my eyes on whatever was making the noise. I slowly put my right hand on the hilt of my sword, ready to draw at a moment's notice. As my eyes got used to the darkness, what I saw just disgusted me through my core. What came from the shadows is a green child of grotesque proportions scurrying around with a rusted dagger in his childlike hand.

The goblin started to drag his rusted dagger across the floor, creating sparks as it flew left and right; we locked eyes, and it gave out a loud inhuman shriek that resounded around the cave walls.

I draw my longsword pointed towards the goblin, ensuring that the point will go first. As it started to charge me, I backpedaled slowly, ensuring I had the distance. As I began to back peddle, it started running faster, closing in on me in seconds; I quickly flicked my wrist, my sword digging into the neck of the goblin as I put more of my weight in the slash. My sword broke through its collar bone with the extra weight. As I looked at the goblin, I could see the light diminishing from its eyes. and in one swift motion, I kicked the goblin to dislodge my sword from its body

*Shriek* *Shriek* *Shriek*

More inhuman shrieks started to resound off of the cave walls. I could hear the ground rumbling, giving me enough evidence to say that a Goblin horde was coming. As I started to get into my stance, I could see more than 20 goblins charging me.

I calmed my breathing and slowly focused on the same feeling I used to invoke my magic. If someone were witnessing this scene, they would be able to see a Girl surrounded by Electricity as it crackled on her sword and body; the brightness of the Electricity gave off a blue hue on the cavern walls.

As I thrust my sword at the leading goblin, the weight of the sword and the added piercing power of the lighting, the blade of my sword just goes straight into the goblin head, all while it's scratching and clawing at my leather gauntlet, which created five claw marks on my right gauntlet. as the lightning runs through the goblin's body searing his wound and creating a chain reaction to 3 of the Goblins behind him. I quickly dislodge my sword from the goblins head and go for a close slash on the next goblin but was met by some resistance as the goblin used his rusted shortsword to block with the edge of his blade.

But with the brittleness of the goblin's short sword, the power of the swing broke the blade in half and lopped his body in half. with the uncoordinated goblins and their predictable patterns, I just mowed through them

10 minutes later~

*Sigh* "I-I think that's the last of them," I say in between breaths

*Rumble*

"What the fu..." I cried out as I got hit on the side of my abdomen by a large club; the force of the club flung me into the air as I tumbled on and in between the corpses of the goblins that I killed just 10 minutes ago.

I...Think...I broke a rib. I gasped out.

Why did I ever think being an adventurer was a good idea? I could've been a baker or something; I thought while flashing in and out of Conscious.

That's the end, for now, ill probably write another chapter tomorrow.

after I get to 5 chapters ill go back to my schedule that I chose
