A Horrible Secret

That screams of mine made a pretty big mess, Doctor came to check up on me, I had a fever.

I found him a gentle and nice man but this was the only side of the picture I was watching.

Because one day we were usually chatting for a couple of minutes when Amanda sat beside me.

"I miss my mom when I look at Hilda" I lowered my eyes "I wish if she was as full of life as she is" I whispered to Amanda when I saw Hilda dancing on her own.

"What happened to her?" Amanda asked.

"Nothing, she's just not here with me" I clarified.

"Oh! I miss my mom too! Is it alright to miss someone who's never been with you?" Amanda asked me innocently.

"Of course" I gently placed my hand over her shoulder, but her reaction left me in shock.

She pouted while tears fell down her cheeks "Please don't touch me?" She cried.

"What?" I couldn't understand why she was saying that, but I yanked my hand back.

"I will not tell anyone but please don't touch me, it hurts" She started weeping when all of us surrounded her.

When she realized what she was doing she apologized but she hugged me and cried more.

When she felt light enough she told me a horrible secret that shook me from head to toe.

After my arrival, she heard a man talking to Barbra about me, and when they saw her sneaking up on them, they punished her.

And it didn't happen just once, it happened many times, she couldn't explain how they punished her, all she said was they left her with that doctor who checked me up.

Her weeping was enough for me to understand what they were doing to her and now I get why he was being nice to me.

I wanted to see who was doing this to her, and I wanted to find a solution for it, and I couldn't do it from inside of this place.

So while we were out on activities I started observing everything, the ways out, the pass-codes, and the timings of different nurses.

One day I followed Barbra, she was talking to a man, and when I was about to leave that place that man turned his face toward me, I hid behind the wall, it was Jordan.

"Beat her on the places she can't show anyone! You are an expert just push her into such a state that she can't recover from" He grunted.

"I can't beat her! She wouldn't keep her mouth shut!" Barbra whispered.

"Please just handle this and I will send you to a better place!" He hid his hands inside his pockets.

"Why don't you do your own dirty work?" She folded her arms "After all you made her try to kill herself multiple times?" She said.

"I would but Jill needs me! I don't have time for Daisy and her useless existence" He took out a thick bunch of money and placed it on her hand.

I was shaking when another nurse placed her hand on my shoulder.

I wanted to excuse but she placed her finger on her lips, telling me to stay quiet, she waved a phone in front of me, she was recording them.

She started planning my escape with me, all this time she was worried about me, even I was worried about myself.

Until we could come up with a plan we decided to fake my sickness, and that trick worked, Barbra didn't harm me when I played sick, I had a really big bruise on my upper arm, because of when I fell intentionally, and I took advantage of it.

But we didn't pull it for so long, and we needed to keep that nurse clean too. I feel sad that I never asked her name.

Well, once a week patients were taken out for fresh air but within the boundaries of the establishment.

It was a lawn. When everyone was busy having fun doing whatever they liked, Barbra went inside for a walk.

That's when the other nurse slowly signaled me by moving her head.

She slipped her phone on the ground, and when she went away I picked up her phone, inside the case of that phone was a security pass.

I tiptoed all the way to the main gate, I slipped the security pass in the given card reader, and this activated the alarm.

Did I panic? Yes, a little but everything was going according to plan. When the alarm rang I hid under a bush close to the wall.

As soon as guards rushed toward the gate I sneaked back to the guards' room, first I called Jordan from that phone, I heard him say hello thrice when I hung up, he knew the call was from the institution, I wanted to get him there.

Then I called the police from there and played the recording on the nurse's phone, I hung up again.

Right after I called them again and with my trembling voice I spoke "I am Daisy and I am calling from Jennith's mental institution, they are trying to kill me!" I spoke and hung up... for good this time.

I heard footsteps running back toward the room, but fortunately, whoever it was, he wasn't coming inside.

I sneaked out as fast as I could, and we all got shifted back to our room while the other people were investigating, Barbra noticed I was lurking around, this is exactly what I wanted to do, she pulled me with my hair and took me to the room where we used to get together.

"You did that! What were you up to?" She yelled at me.

"I didn't do anything" I lied.

As soon as the guards arrived I acted as if she pushed me, I stumbled outside of the fence, and before I fall I held the sill of the fence, and now I was hanging, I took the risk even though I knew I could die by falling from there.

But I realized that my end is not near. All this time God kept me alive for a reason and this was my reason.

To send Hilda back to her home, where she can dance and bake pies, to avenge Amanda, to help Sydney become a better person because this is what she wanted.
