Date and first quest

Rito awoke early the following morning and went outside to find Mahiru and Mikan chatting and getting ready for breakfast. "Good morning, Rito!" Rito appeared to be getting ready for the morning workout as Mikan turned to look at him.

"Good morning!" Rito responded to Mahiru and Mikan's greetings after taking a moment to consider whether or not the girls had actually slept the night before, given that they were up so late the previous evening and were now awake before him.

"Going out for jogging." Mahiru questioned Rito as he nodded and left the house. As she watched him leave, Mahiru had the thought that she should begin working out as well.

As usual, the morning wind felt really good as Rito dashed with the fastest speed and would slow down to jog from time to time, until he made a whole round and reached the park, where he saw the familiar figure of Haruna sitting on the bench.

"Haruna!" Rito sped up as he greeted the girl, who blushed upon hearing him use her name. However, following their conversation, they had both decided to address one another by their first names.

"Rito-kun..." Rito nodded as he stared at the tiny container in Haruna's hand as she handed it to him and instructed him to eat before departing.

"You are way too shy, Haruna!" The best meal after a challenging workout, Rito muttered with a smile as he opened the container and discovered a lemon slice in honey.

'Hmm! A sweet and sour taste is really good after exercising.'

Rito thought inside his head as he ate the whole box completely and packed it up again, waiting for her to come back after giving Maron a round around the park.

After returning, Rito and Mikan discussed the shopping, and Mikan dragged Mahiru to join them for the shopping, as Rito watched helpless Mahiru being dragged inside Mikan's room before entering his room.

'Wow!' Rito, who had finished getting ready again after the shower, was waiting for them to emerge when he saw Mikan and Mahiru coming down the stairs and was astounded by their incredible appearance.

Mahiru, in particular, caught his attention because she was wearing clothes that his mother had sent, but they were too big for her, so Mikan just kept them in her drawer.

Not to mention, Rito's mother is a fashion designer whose choices are well-known abroad; as a result, the outfit she chose for Mikan was perfect for everyone, especially Mahiru, who had not previously tended to dress in a particularly fashionable manner.

Rito continued to follow them as they made their way to the shopping district, unsure of why they appeared to be having a good time.

They had already purchased some clothes for Rito and one for Mahiru as a gift, which Mikan had to work very hard to convince Mahiru to accept. Rito noticed that Mahiru was behaving much more openly toward Mikan.

"This shop coffee is really good!" Mahiru made the suggestion because she liked to buy coffee from this shop frequently and had a sweet tooth. The shop owner appeared to know Mahiru and was surprised to see that Mahiru had brought someone with her because she typically tends to visit the shop alone.

Rito unexpectedly received a call from the editor of AIISC, who wanted to meet him as soon as possible. Since Rito was still carrying the pendrive containing the manuscript for volumes 2 and 3 of Re:Zero, he invited the editor to meet him at the cafe.

"Yeah, I am currently carrying the pendrive, and you can also take it from me there."

The opposing party appeared to be in good spirits and inquired as to whether they would be taken directly to the nearby building.

"Rito, is it the editor?" Mikan asked, as both Mikan and Mahiru heard him talk, even though he was not speaking loud, but they were still able to hear his words clearly.

"Yeah, she wants me to deliver this pendrive, even though she originally wanted to share the sales results, which were rather positive. She also asked me to attend the award ceremony because she had entered my novel in a competition for newcomers, and I appeared to have won it."

"Right!" Mikan muttered as she considered how she had already developed immunity to the surprise that his brother was a gifted writer of light novels.

Although Mahiru was not particularly prepared, it was the first time she had encountered someone who excels at novel writing at such a young age and appears to be making money.

Mahiru, Rito, and Mikan walked to the AIISC office and the building on the 12th floor. Ayame Kagurazaka was glad to see Rito because the market for his book was extremely competitive, and she was concerned about whether he had finished the second volume.

Rito finishing the second volume was something she had never anticipated, but the fact that he had also finished the third volume calmed her fears.

"Thank you for coming, Rito-san." Rito's real personality must be really attractive for such a cute beauty to be hanging out with her on vacation like this, Kagurazaka thought as she looked at Mikan, whom she had met, and the other girl, who was a drop dead beauty of her own.

"No, I should be the one thanking Miss Kagurazaka-san for that initial payment; it really helped us both a lot."

Rito's habit from the previous life kicked in as he graciously thanked Kagurazaka. Kagurazaka looked at him, slightly surprised to see Rito reply in such a mature tone, and nodded while patting him on the shoulder and discussing the cover issue.

Rito, Mikan, and Mahiru then left the building and went back to Mahiru's home because tomorrow was school and they had made up their minds to return to her apartment soon.

Mikan looked rather reluctant, but she also knew that it was impossible for her to force Mahiru to stay with them forever like that and asked her to come and meet them from time to time.

Mahiru agreed to the terms and nodded, saying goodbye to Rito and Mikan as she made her way back to her apartment.

As she did so, she had the thought that Rito was a very serious man because he had made no attempt to approach her inside the house, making her believe in him much more strongly than she previously did.

'Yuki Rito! Eh!' She murmured back in her room, cradling the little pushy on her bed and sighing as she peered up at the roof. and started to move out and make some dinner.

"Eh! I don't have an ingredient!"

When she realized the problem, a ringing bell echoed through the empty apartment as she walked and saw no one through the pinhole before opening the door to find a bag.

It was from Rito! Mahiru felt warm as she hugged the bag and shut the door after reading the note, but she was unaware of a man standing on the stairs looking out at her with a smile on his face as he had to quickly return home.

'Idiot, come inside if you were here!' Mahiru pondered as she entered the building, unaware that something inside of her was beginning to change and that she was beginning to believe in Rito much more than a friend would.

"Rito, you are late; what took you so long? Baka!" After Rito brokered a truce with Mikan, who had been waiting for him at home, Mikan finally lost her cool, but it was decided that he would take a break from writing and would comb her hair instead.

Rito almost jumped in excitement when he heard that he would be sent to an entirely different world for each quest while he was back in his room after eating dinner. Rito heard the notification from the system for the first time and looked at the quest that had once more appeared in front of him.

Rito hurried to the convenience store because they had never received a quest like this before.

He planned to buy some emergency food and other supplies, and he also had an item box, which the system says can even store a lot of items because the item box skill has already been maxed out. Additionally, food stored inside an item box will not spoil.

However, living things can also be transported inside an item box, but only if they are willing to do so. Only then will an item box be able to transport them without incident.

"So, what kind of world is this?" Rito could only ask relative questions that he might need in order to complete the quest because there was no explanation for why it had stopped speaking earlier.

"Umm, why those girls?" Since some of them are being held captive by the enemies and he might need to kill them in order to free her, Rito was forced to ask. However, for someone who lives in society, killing is a very difficult thing to do.

Rito had a chill as he remembered how he had learned memories of his past lives—memories that Rito the real protagonist should not have—and realized that he was not one of those protagonists either—that he had changed since the system's inception.

"Is the system targeting all protagonists or something?" He expressed his uncertainty and it was followed by the same mechanical response.

[No! But we are changing the timeline or targetting the future of other world!]

'Hah! What should I do know?' Rito wanted to come up with a strategy that would allow him to protect Alpha from the band of smugglers or bandits without having to kill anyone. However, by the time Rito finished his planning, night had fallen and he still needed to finish it by purchasing a few items from the system.

Rito was in a great mood that evening, but when he finally arrived in the ruin city or something, Bandit appeared to be having a campfire. They all appeared to be laughing while seated around a small bonfire they had set up, which included a variety of meat pieces and wine on the side.

Alpha appeared to have undergone very little change, and her face and arm had almost taken on the appearance of the rotting flesh from the anime. This indicated that she was still quite close to encountering the main character, Cid Kagenou.

'What the hell is that?'

Rito's thoughts fell silent as he silently approached the tent and pulled back the cover to reveal a weak 12-year-old girl staring at him with a trembling gaze and her hand trying to shrink back out of fear. Rito had looked around to make sure there were no bandits before he did this.

"Shit! Who the hell are you, brat?" A card came out of the storage just as Rito's mind began to wander as he stared at the naked girl, whose body was covered in bruises; it was one of the rewards he had received from the system for saving Shiina Mahiru.

"Hero Equip."

Rito was surrounded by a frenzied light as the bandit group's eyes felt excruciating pain. When they opened their eyes, however, everything had changed and the boy had already disappeared from their line of sight.

However, at that same instant, another bandit felt a sharp pain rush through his stomach as his body flew back in an enormous moment and slammed into the other partner.

"Scums! This is not going to be a good day for bastards like you." As the dust from the previous bandit location settled, a boy holding a kodachi and wearing a blue dress and silver armor entered their field of vision. Rito's voice resounded in the background.

Even though his arrogance and rage were overpowering his kindness, his silver hair danced in the wind, and he still kept his sword in its scabbard.

"You guys had enough of your fill in this world; let's end your journey as bandits." Rito then closed his eyes and imagined himself in front of the hero Emiya, who had that smile on his face and was nodding and touching the sword in Rito's hand as he spoke.

"Trace on!"

"fuck him!!!" The bandit felt the threat, but running from here was not an option for him, so he could only charge at Rito, who had his eyes closed when someone suddenly appeared beside him silently and slashed horizontally at his neck.

In addition to Rito's physical parameters increasing by 80% of the normal limit with this equip, he also gains ten times more weapon mastery.

Everything happened in a matter of seconds, and the bandits were left with nothing but the sight of their best sword master being knocked out of the sky by the boy's kick and another of those monsters appearing right beside him.

"Take care of that girl, Rito! I will be more than enough to deal with them." Rito walked silently alongside the girl, covered her body with a towel he pulled out of his storage, and pulled her up as Emiya spoke to him while observing Rito's dejected expression.

She smells awful because she has been with those thugs for three days straight. At this point, her internal organs are rotting, and her life is already leaking out of her body. Despite this, she maintains a small smile because she enjoys hearing the screams of the bandits.

"th..THank you!" She spoke barely anything to Rito, who was carrying her, and when he heard her thank him, tears streamed down his face.

"What a coward!" Rito cursed himself, since it had been 2 days since he appeared in this world, and in the name of planning, he wasted all this time and followed them silently, without thinking that there was a life who was dying within that camp.

Within Rito's embrace, a life finally took its last breath, and her smile began to stifle as her faint breath left this world.

Furthermore, Rito's thoughts began to change at that precise moment.
