Chapter Fourty: Supernatural Activity

[Low Ting] [Low Ting] [High Ting]

The sound of a piano playing entered the ears of a red eyed Yami and a hazel eyed Rian. The noise caught both of their attention. It was extremely loud and distracting… more so in a place like the old school building. Wood creaks, broken glass, stomps, and voices had become common noises.

"A piano…Yami lets go there, the others most likely heard it."

Rian said while catching up to a book reading Yami, she still was walking fast, but her face had reverted back to its previous self.

"…"

Yami glanced over at Rian without speaking, she simply matched his pace…she didn't mind him next to her now, she didn't have anything on her face to hide.

"Hmmmm? What you reading?"

Now that Yami was matching Rian's pace, he could somewhat see what she was reading. He couldn't see everything on the page due to how small it was and due to the consant pace they were walking in.

"…Earth's History, learning is fun."

Yami liked to read to read, it could be considered one of her favorite things to do apart from showering and munching on cold plums.

"I see…can I learn to?"

Even though Rian knew alot of things about earth, he lived on it. His mind could always use a refresher.

"…"

Yami didn't reply, she simply slowed down her pace and leaned more towards her target. She didn't mind sharing knowledge with someone who wanted to read like her. Their body's touched and their scents invaded each others noses like outside air. She looked towards her target rather than the book and her target looked towards her rather than the book…

"…Why aren't you reading Rian Yuki?"

Yami saw him staring her in the eyes, so she asked.

"Why aren't you reading? You're staring at me."

Rian easily refuted her…

"…I was checking if you were reading."

Yami's eyes looked away before she started her sentence and returned when she finished.

"…Yami have you started lying?"

Rian noticed Yami eyes move when she spoke, it reminded him of a similar thing his sister did.

"…No."

Her eyes moved away before moving back, it was so quick…a normal person would have most likely only seen her eye move slightly.

"Mhmm."

Rian hummed…he didn't believe her in the slightest.

[Low Ting] [High Ting]

Yami and Rian had only just now had remembered why they were walking in this direction, they had forgotten due to the lack of fear they felt and their conversation. Yami would punch the ghost away if it went after her or her target. Rian wasn't really fearful of anything really, he had pretty much talked to lady death almost everyday of his life. Even when he was walking towards the old school building door entrance, he had almost fallen through the steps…the steps had broken pointed glass underneath them.

"We should hurry Yami, this heat is pretty strong"

Rian wasn't that hot, he could see small amounts of sweat fall from Yami's head and onto the book pages.

"Alright."

Yami agreed without thinking, not because she was sweating, but because she could see small traces of sweat forming on the face of the boy next to her.

The two people moved at a faster pace than before…they soon met up with Risa, Yui, Mio, Haruna, and Lala. Before he could greet them…he was pounced on by a bunch of cat breeds.

"Rian…are you ok!? You aren't hurt, right? I still can call the medics! I have them on speedial."

Haruna felt around his body whilst saying, she checked every nook with mutiple looks.

"How horrible Rian…to think you would leave a girl like me all alone."

Risa was wiping non existent tears from her face, she checking for his reaction through subtle glances over her palms. Did she care about him falling…most likely. She would she show it after seeing him fine…no.

"Sigh! At least your moving Rian."

Yui was probably one of the most worried out the bunch, unlike Risa…she couldn't hide it as much. The hands that were placed behind her back were moving out of joy, she didn't even yell at Rian Yuki or say something along the lines of "Rian Yuki! What were you doing with that girl!? Lewd! Lewd! Lewd!" She just talked with a turned back and a slightly raised head.

"I'm glad your ok."

Mio seemed to have a lackluster reaction when compared to the rest, however…her true reaction was near the level of Yui. Mio didn't even notice that her glasses were postioned improper, she couldn't see out of them.

"Yami! Rian!"

Lala didn't really worry about a simple fall. She believed Rian was the strongest earthling, a simple fall through a floor wouldn't do anything major to him. She had seen his survior ability first hand, he often helped her out with inventions of hers when they were at school or in her room. But even still…she was still happy to see him.

[Low Ting] [High Ting] [High Ting] [Doom]

"Ehyaa!"

Haruna jumped up and grabbed onto Rian's neck, she only realized that she jumped when she was in the air, so she quickly grabbed onto the first thing she could. Her face slowly turned hot like a raising change in temperature. She released his neck and plopped down on the ground…

"Lets go ahead…"

Haruna ignored the gazes from Mio and Risa before she robotically walked towards the door the sound came from, she had forgotten all fear and her body moved on its own.

[Whosh]

"!!!"

The sound was faint, but three people heard the air change around them. Rian dashed towards Haruna and picked her up.

"…Eh"

Haruna was caught off guard, it took her a moment to realize she was in the hazel eyed boy's arms…bridal style.

"I got this!"

Lala got out a object from her device…a tennis racket. She stomped on the ground and sent two heads from sciene room skeleton's away after they shot towards her group.

"Transform"

Yami's hand turned in a blade, she blurred from her position and cut the piano that would have broken the door in front of Haruna. The piano was sliced cleanly in half and both sides when past her. She undid her transformed hand and reopened her book.

[Clap] [Clap]

"Thank you! I'm glad no one was hurt…sigh!"

The ghost girl spoke in realieved tone…

Wait…
