33 Being Forward

Haewon took a deep breath to calm her racing heart before dialing his line.

"Hey! What happened to you?" She asked the moment the call connected.

"Hey! I didn't call because I thought you might be sleeping and didn't want to wake you up," Jake said, wondering how much she had missed him.

She couldn't believe how much she had missed his voice, Haewon thought.

"I was up talking with my mom. How are you? Why weren't you in school today? Or were you? I tried reaching you earlier, but your line wasn't connecting. For a moment, I thought you might have disappeared again," She confessed, and the corners of Jake's lips curved in a smile.

That was exactly what he wanted. He had, as usual, entered the class late and had left early through the back door, and he had watched her waiting in her car from a distance.
