79 Soren vs Ikaros

(A/N: Short chapter. Next one will be longer.)

"Can we finish this quickly? The others surely must be done with their battles already."

Soren said, as he dodged one of the squid-like spears of Ikaros.

"Annoying-much"

Ikaros continued to use the eight squid spear, all intending to impale the agile Soren, who seemed to move past the strikes with ease, as if he could predict where the attacks were coming from.

"What about this!"

Ikaros lunged once more, making Soren retreat backwards.

In that time, Ikaros released a stream of ink, creating three clones of him made of ink.

"Ikasumi Bunshin!"

These clones took up spears of their own, continuing their attack on Soren.

"This is getting difficult."

Soren commented, dodging two spears and grabbing them by the pole. With a strong tug, he tore them from Ikaros and the clones hands and returned the attack with the same weapon.

One of the clone burst apart in ink, or what was left of it after the squid absorbed it and crept away.

The other quickly dodged, showing Soren that that was the original body.

Throwing the spear through another ink clone, Soren took up his sword, from his hands sparks of lighting began to run throught the blade.

"I want to finish this quickly. I need to prove my worth to the crew after all and staying here doesn't help. Please faint or die for me."

Not taking the scorn in Soren's voice lightly, Ikaros roared in anger as his speed and power suddenly increased.

Some of the spears Ikaros wielded grazed past Soren, doing little to no damage thanks to the sturdy armor he was wearing.

Soren had to continue moving about, the battle getting a little harder than he had anticipated.

"Tsk! Damn drug."

Not even hesitating to amuse the fella any longer, Soren rushed forward, weaving his way through the attacks and landing a high voltage slice on the opponent's chest.

Ikaros screamed out in pain, his eyes staring in horror as some of the sparks fromt he lightning had lit his clothes on fire.

What followed was a quick beat down, as the terrified form of Ikaros was too scared to respond.

Not even bothering in putting out the fire, Soren left the beaten figure of Ikaros behind, who was quickly beginning to dry out, becoming just like his weapons. Dried squid.

Meeting Ban halfway to the captains battle, Soren couldn't help but wince after seeing the humongous load of instruments Ban was running back and forth within the short span of a few minutes.

"Eh, Ban-dono. Shouldn't we move towards the captain? I remember you were interested in how her battle would go."

Soren meekly commented.

"After, after. Need to keep Shinobu happy first. I don't want to try out her newly developed poisons. Give me a hand, will ya. If I do this alone, the little fox would be done already."

Seeing no other way to get out of it, as Ban was a lot stronger and faster than him, Soren began to help. Running away was impossible.

"Any idea where the battle is taking place?"

Soren asked, seeing Ban pass him by for the forth time already.

"I have an inkling. But just in case, just follow the place with the loud noice and a lot of damage."

"Why look there?"

As if to respond to Soren's question, a large explosion created by a sea of bluish white flames burst out just a couple of blocks away from them.

"I see your point."

Soren commented, increasing his pace in the hope he would arrive on time to see Akane fight.

A short while before Ban's and Soren's meet-up, Shinobu had taken a few detours as well.

She had collected a few soldiers from the army and guided them to the place where the enemy commanders were taken down.

All traces of Zeo had disappeared, leaving only a puddle of blood on the ground. When the soldiers looked in confusion at the scene, Shinobu just chuckled as she led them towards another place, which was where Ban had his fight with the Flying Dutchmen pirates.

When she arrived, they were still there. Still neatly tied up and unconscious.

How nice.

Having done her part of the charity today, Shinobu quickly made her way to Akane's battle ground, arriving just on time to see the both of them about to fight.

Sitting on one of the rooftops, Shinobu waited for Ban and Soren to arrive. If they would arrive at all. Not that it mattered to her. All she was waiting for was the chance to use some new medicine or poison on her captain and the enemy.
