Chap 6: Getting along well with everyone
Scene: Wen Dei Highschool, Parallel Class 8
This is Qin Ran's second day of first-year high school in Wen Dei High.
At the moment, she is sitting alone in the last row, sitting beside a window. Nobody approached her since yesterday. As expected she is being alienated the moment she came here. This happened in her last life as well.
In her past life, she didn't do anything to rectify the situation. She instead, focused on studying so she will be transferred to the Experimental class.
The first-year high school on Wen Dei high has 13 sections. 2 sections for the S class, 3 Sections for the Experimental class, and 8 sections for the Parallel class.
S classes are made up of students from the wealthiest family on Yuncheng. You can't say that they are the most intelligent students but teachers in the S classes has high expectations towards them. And to be able to stay in these classes, you have to be at least in the top 100 at the first-year level.
Experimental classes, on the other hand, are made up of students who really excel in academics. The two classes are a mix of rich and poor students. Some wealthy class students, like Xu Junyen, chose to be on the Experimental class to focus on studies. Poor students in Experimental classes are here on scholarship.
Parallel classes are made up of students from well to do family. The students here are not as grade-driven as S and Experimental Classes. But still, Wen Dei High is strict on the students with their studies. If you fail your subjects or did misconduct, Wen Dei High administrators won't think twice to expel you. If Wen Dei high expel a student, it would be hard to enrol to other prestigious schools. Students who were expelled can only go abroad to study if they have enough money.
Qin Ran has nothing else to do this first period but to arrange her book. She didn't bring her books yesterday that is why she is doing this now. She looked up when she felt someone stood beside the vacant chair.
It's Gu Xichi, her deskmate in the past and her deskmate now.
Qin Ran didn't hesitate to sit beside the window because she already knew Gu Xichi sat on the chair beside the aisle.
Gu Xichi was absent yesterday that is why she didn't see her yesterday. She took a leave from school and Qin Ran also knew why.
"Hello, I am Qin Ran, your new classmate. I would be your deskmate moving forward. Please take care of me." Qin Ran said with a friendly smile.
"H-hello." She said after a second or two and looked down timidly, her think-ringed eyeglasses fell farther down her nose bridge. She then placed the books she was holding and sat beside Qin Ran.
"Here, this is the Mathematics paper the teacher gave us this morning while you were not here." Qin Ran said.
"T-thank you." Gu Xichi replied. She then skimmed through the paper, preparing to work on it.
Qin Ran, on the other hand, who already finished the paper, took out an earphone connected to her cell phone and tapped on a song she likes. She then took a book out to write her name on.
A lot of her classmates were eyeing both Qin Ran and Gu Xichi. Qin Ran was bright, beautiful and fresh while Gu Xichi was looking haggard as though she went through an illness and haven't totally gotten well yet. Her lips and skin were pale. The contrast between the two was very obvious.
But nobody came to them to talk to them.
Qin Ran looked busy with her books but in her mind, she was thinking about how to pass through this hurdle.
She didn't expect to famous inside the class. She just wanted to get along well with everyone so she can get through her high school smoothly. Once she is in a university, she can be free from all these and the Lin family. So she doesn't want to invite trouble.
Her first goal is to get clean from the rumor she knew is circulating at the moment and the next goal is to befriend Gu Xichi who, 2 months from now, will commit a suicide that somehow would paint Qin Ran as a malicious girl.
Qin Ran sighed.
"The game is on Qin Ran, let's not be defeated this time." She muttered to herself.
