Not A Single Beat

Irene is now in a clinic room. Dalie, Evelyn, The Lead Scientist, and A Doctor are all beside her asking questions.

Doctor: "Are you sure you feel just fine? No difficulty with the lack of oxygen and blood flowing through your veins?"

Irene: "No"

Lead Scientist: "She doesn't even look pale. Is it because The Vale blood replaced the need for oxygen or normal blood flowing through her veins? Is that why her heart isn't beating and her lungs aren't breathing?"

Evelyn: "To think that Vale Blood could do this much to a descendant. Maybe that's how they used to be back then. They didn't need to pump any blood from their heart, it was just there."

Dalie: "Say Irene, would you want a burger or fried chicken?"

Everyone else just looks at her silently for asking such a random question out of the blue. Like, you couldn't have waited until the check up was over? It had to be now?

Dalie: "What? Don't look at me like that~ I'm just concerned for my new recruit's empty stomach like a good Team Manager"

Evelyn never looked this fed up before but here she is. Very fed up.

Irene: "Uh, Is Chicken Salad okay?"

Dalie: "Sure! I'll go buy some outside. I'll be back!"

Irene: "(Evelyn looks like she wishes she won't ever comeback...)"

Doctor: "Anyway, it seems that this should be the new normal for you from now on. If you feel anything odd with your body, please go directly to Professor Oleen. She's more of an expert for supernatural cases such as yourself than I do"

Lead Scientist (Prof Oleen): "Well I haven't really encountered anything like this. It's a first to be honest, so I'm gonna have to do some personal research on you myself"

Irene: "You're Professor Oleen?"

Prof Oleen: "Yup, pleasure to meet you Miss Vale"

Evelyn: "Does this mean the project is a success?"

Prof Oleen: "Not quite. We're going to let Miss Vale rest for a while first before we start testing out her current abilities after the experiment. We've gathered information of your abilities from before so we could compare them"

Irene: "How did you find something like that? I don't even remember using my abilities in public"

Prof Oleen: "It was when you were still passed out by the time you arrived here. We just put you through a scanner in my lab that helped estimate your previous capabilities"

Irene: "Oh (I wonder if that's considered illegal and if I can sue them since I did not give permission for that at all)"

Evelyn: "By the way, don't think about suing the agency since you already signed a contract with us before hand, agreeing to share your personal information with us"

Irene: "Whaaattt. I wasn't thinking about doing that at all thoughhh"

Prof Oleen: "Don't worry. Right now, you should focus on resting. You're gonna need it"

The Lead Scientist leaves the room.

Doctor: "I'll just give you some pills for fatigue if you ever need it. Take care Miss Vale. You can be on your way now"

Evelyn: "Let's go"

Irene: "Okay"

They walk through the hallway and take the elevator.

Irene: "(Haaa.. No pressure at all... )"

Evelyn: "Hey"

Irene: "Huh?- Yeah?"

Evelyn: "How are you doing?"

Irene: "Fine I guess...."

Evelyn: "Good...."

Irene: "....."

Evelyn: "....."

Irene: "....."

Evelyn mumbles something to herself.

Evelyn: "I... if... hide... from her"

Irene: "What?"

Evelyn: "Nothing"

Evelyn walks out the elevator as soon as the doors open. Irene tails her from behind wondering what was that just now.

Irene: "(...I don't think I'll like this job very much...)
