Farmer

Hello there! Unnamed magical plant here giving you an update.

Even after several weeks, I'm still being farmed by the damn snake. Because of that, I decided to give it the nickname Farmer. Not a suitable name to give to snake, I know, but it's not like Farmer is aware of its new nickname. And considering the amount of leaves of mine it has eaten, I expect it to accept that nickname if I ever get the chance to tell it.

Another thing to note about Farmer, is that after several weeks the protrusion on its head has become even more apparent. I should be able to call them mini-horns now. Farmer's length should now be at least double compared to when I first met it. And it also seems that my guess about it evolving closer to becoming a dragon is true, since there are now protrusions on its back. Definitely a place where wings would grow. I started to become curious as to what kind of dragon Farmer would evolve into.

The last thing I found about Farmer is that Farmer is a male. So I would be using 'he','his', and 'him' now when talking about Farmer. As to how I found out about that… I prefer not to talk nor remember about that...

That's about it for Farmer. For me, I've grown taller, more leaves, and now with the extra feature; Branches. Yes, I've reached a height where growing branches would not make me look like a bush, and so I did it!

And that is the end of the update. Now for today's event, let's start with the bird that is currently sleeping in front of me and Farmer…

A few plant hours ago…

It was still the usual day for me. Farmer was out catching prey, while I was practicing my energy manipulation. After a few weeks of continuously trying to move the energy around me, I finally done it. Not just a budge, but I can finally actually move the energy around me as if I have some awesome telekinesis.

[Ding! Level up!]

'Huh… didn't expect that to happen' following that, my perception range increased. 'Ah, I somehow actually forgot to check out the notification from when Farmer attacked me…' It would seem that indeed practicing my energy manipulation would increase the effect of my passives. 'Let me check one out' I decided…

'Oh so that's how it is. 'Domain' should be how far I spread my roots, which is why I can see the dragon.' Seeing the range of 3 meters has made me happy as well. Wondering if the range of my celestial aura's effect of regeneration has also increased, I checked that out as well.

'It seems that it follows the same formula as well. Hm?' It would appear that not only has the range increased, but description has changed a bit as well. 'I'm quite sure that before, the description said 'All beings'… but now it's 'All non-hostile beings'… Well that's good then! Hopefully that would prevent another Farmer from coming.'

But it would seem that I may or may not have just jinxed myself with such thoughts. Because soon after the thought left my mind, a certain creature has entered my sight.

It was a bird.

It first landed in front of me. And from its stare, I sensed a feeling of deja vu. 'Ah damn it. Not again…' It didn't took long before the bird proved my guess correct by immediately pecking all over from my stem to my leaves. 'Ah heck, this would take a while to heal again…'

This time I'm not too worried about being pecked to nothingness though. After all this time, there's a farmer that should soon come by and take care of it. For now, I just have to survive long enough until Farmer comes, which shouldn't be long.

'Maybe I should take start practicing my dodging again?' Before, when Farmer was attacking me, I learned to sway my leaf. Since I've leveled up my energy manipulation, maybe I can start trying to move my stem as well…

Surprisingly, unlike with my leaf before, I could immediately move my stem around. But I can feel that I can go faster, so I continued practicing by continuously trying to dodge the peck of the bird.

At first, I could only dodge once…

Soon, I could dodge twice…

Then thrice…

Eventually, I could move my stem around to the point that I could dodge at least 6 out of 10 of the bird's pecks.

'Voila!' Now that I have the skills, I'm sure the bird has gotten more annoyed. Yet it still seems insistent on pecking me. But sadly for the bird, Farmer has returned, and it's not happy…

Farmer just returned with a bug in mouth when he saw his precious plant swaying around, dodging pecks, from a bird. He immediately dropped the bug he had, and dashed towards the plant.

"Insolent!"

Once Farmer was close enough, he jumped towards the bird in order to bite it. However, the bird was nimble enough to dodge Farmer's bite. "Who are you?" the bird said, in the same language Farmer understands.

Farmer was momentarily surprised by the bird speaking. But Farmer didn't let that affect him, since it didn't take long for him to conclude that it means that the bird, just like him, is an intelligent being. "I should be the one asking you. Who are you to attack the plant I've been guarding?" Farmer replied.

The bird too, just like Farmer, was also momentarily surprised when Farmer began to talk. "The plant is beneficial for the both of us. How about we split it instead of fighting?" the bird upon also reaching the conclusion that Farmer is intelligent, tried to reason with him. "I don't see you being able to defeat me anyway, with my ability to fly"

Hearing the offer to split the plant, Farmer squinted his eyes. "It seems that you're not as intelligent as you sound. You do realize that I don't have to fly to stop you from ever getting the plant, right?" Farmer said with a tinge of mockery in his voice.

After being reminded of such, the bird was momentarily stunned. Only then did it realize that what the snake said is true. Because if the bird was to fight the snake directly, it would eventually get bitten at some point. It started to think up a new plan, and the one that it came up with was: "Well, will you able to stop me from snapping that plant in half?". The way the bird thought about it was 'if I can't have it, then neither shall the snake'

But hearing the question, Farmer simply smiled and said "That would be true if it was weeks ago…" as Farmer slowly lifted up his head, his scales also seems to rise up by a little. "But now, don't even think you can get past this…" Suddenly, from his mouth and from beneath his scales, purple gas began to burst out. It didn't take long for top of the dragon that they were on to be completely covered in gas.

The bird could only slowly distance itself as the gas spread. Little did it know that it had lost its chance because of that. While the gas continued to pour out from under Farmer's scale, Farmer taunted the bird with a smirk and said "So what do you think little bird? Think you can still get past me?"

Being taunted by the snake, the bird was momentarily speechless… before falling for the taunt. It dived right into the cloud of gas and went straight to the plant. Farmer did not even try to stop it, and only watched from where he was. He was fully confident in this skill of his, even when the skill is actually still a work in progress.

And he wasn't wrong. Halfway through its dive, the bird suddenly fell from its flight, dropping just right in front of the plant.

Looking towards the bird that has fell down, Farmer shook his head as he approached the bird. "Consider yourself lucky that the poison in this skill only induces sleep. If I had already evolved into a higher species, you would've been dead instead."

And that is how there's a bird in front of me and farmer. I could try restraining the bird with my roots, but I figured that it was unnecessary now that Farmer is here. He could definitely restrain the bird himself without my help.

While waiting for the bird to wake up, I decided to do what I intended to originally do now that I'm level 2. With my energy manipulation, I began to manipulate the energy around me to head towards me. And Thankfully, as I expected, I got the skill.

The second notification got me surprised, however. 'It ain't the most creative name, but hey, it looks great'. While I expected to get the Accelerated Absorption skill, I did not expect it to fuse into the passive skill. Once I look around me, I saw the energy around me moving towards me, before getting absorbed. 'It looks like it has indeed fused. How nice!'

Anyway, now that I've completed my goal of increasing my absorption rate using energy manipulation, I now need a new goal for my energy manipulation. Sadly, no ideas came to mind. So in the end, as Farmer and I waited for the bird to wake up, my practice of energy manipulation was simply to move the energy even faster.

After a few hours of waiting, the bird finally woke up. Farmer also noticed it and stared at the bird. Soon, it seems that Farmer started a conversation with the bird. Sadly, a plant still can't hear what's going on. But I could see the bird that was initially tense, becoming even more tense. Before suddenly becoming relaxed.

The sudden change of the bird surprised me quite a bit and also confused me. But when I saw Farmer coming over, pluck 4 leaves, and give 2 to the bird, that's when I knew.

'Alright then, you're Farmer No. 2 until I make up a more convenient nickname.' My assumption is that Farmer somehow made a deal with Farmer no. 2 to farm me together. Which means that I will now lose 4 leaves every week. Damn it.

Oh well, nothing I can do about that anyway.

So I continued my life as a plant. With a few days of time, I have recovered from the barrage of pecks and looking healthy once again. Passing time by just practicing energy manipulation, absorbing energy, absorbing some of the prey that Farmer and Farmer no. 2, infusing energy into my core, and getting struck by lightning once.

Ah yes, one time during a storm, I got struck by a lightning. And in the short moment that it hit me, I was able to absorb it. It added <Lightning> to my Synthesis list, and sadly, that's about it. Kind of expected more, like maybe a mutation or an energy or something, but nope. Just lightning being added to the list.

Soon, after a few more days, something happened again.

'Thank you for the meal, rest in peace dragon…' It took a while… well, a long time really, to absorb the dragon, but I eventually did it. The whole dragon, gone. Regretfully, I had to let go of all the roots that I had grown to cover the dragon. So now my perception has been reduced to the 5 meters from the skill. But thanks to all the energy I absorbed from the dragon, I have infused my core with quite the significant amount of energy. And not only that, but I'm also sure that just like how I wanted it to be, my overflowing energy is surrounding me like mist. It has reached the point that I'm sure that if some human or something similar appeared right now, they would definitely try and take me away.

Yeah, any human or something similar, like that approaching creature over there with 2 legs and 2 hands and… oh shi--
