chapter 2

Lana held her breath for a second as the door opened an unfamiliar man opened the door with a beer in his hand. He smiled with a confused look crossed his face. "how can I help you? did you get lost? If you are looking for the highway it's 68 miles down that road." He pointed in the direction that they just came for. Avery smiled back and was about to answer when Lana said with fake tears in her eyes "Are you my daddy?! Daddy I missed you so much! How could you leave me in the hospital to die when I was clawed up by those muts?!"

She threw herself at him as he blanked out when she asked are you my daddy?! People in the room coughed while others spit out their drink in shock. Avery knew she was up to no good but didn't think it would start out like this. As the tears start to soak his shirt you could see that he was not amused as Avery put his hand to his forehead in agitation.

"Lana this isn't your father." she stopped crying.Avery didn't know how but he knew she was putting on a show to vent some of her anger. "Lana your father is Davis Charles Landen. He is in his late 30's early 40's. He has Black hair and blackish brown eyes does this man look like him?." Lana looked back at the man who was around the same age but had blondish brown hair and green eyes. "Can I exchange him for him?" she asked shyly.

Both men looked at each other while the words the blonde man heard finally registered. "but Dave doesn't have a biology daughter?" Lana caught on to the words biology. She then looked towards the man with a smile that somehow scared him then quickly said in a loud voice that trembled " So you are telling me he replaced his daughter he discarded at the age of 5?" Before he could say anything she put on her most dramatic wailing and crying that made people look as if he bullied her.

He couldn't believe how he got to this point. All he did was answer the door how did he turn into a person who bullied a little girl? Her wails became louder until a elderly man came to the door to take over for him. "Eric I have it from here Mr. Landen will see you in his office Mr. Mills."

He looked towards the girl who still had tears in her eyes that sparkled like stars in the darkest of nights and for some reason he felt himself soften towards hers. He coughed then handed her a tissue and said "dry those tears of yours young lady. I will be taking you to Mr. Landen now." He did a quick look at her while she blew her nose and asked for another tissue to dry her tears. Fredrick saw a young child who looked like she was 8 with the same black hair as Davis. Not just the hair but some of the facial features too. The child wasn't skinny but she was a little small for her age. Lana saw him do a quick look over and didn't care. She liked how she looked and was proud of it. If anyone didn't like it she would tell them where to shove it. She blinked her eyes a few times and put on an abused scared look and said "Really? Because we tried to call before and he won't answer. He even said.." she stopped as tears filled her eyes again. Frederick knew what she was talking about he was there the day the call happened and he knew his friend/employer Davis was answering the phone calls for once.

Avery was surprised that she knew what was going on. He kept it from her that her father wasn't answering any of the calls or even about the phone call at all where he denied responsibility for her. They all kept it from her because she had been through enough.

Fredrick put his arms around her shoulders and lead her up the stair to a long hallway. As she walked through the hallway she saw pictures along the wall. Her anger and fury ignited anew as she kept passing them. She saw pictures of her 3 brothers and father happy and every so often a picture that included her mother. Not once did they come to her house to visit her mother. She had to come see them. 'It wasn't right or fair' she thought to herself. 'Here they are living a luxury life and mom had to work 60-80 hours a week to support us and to save money to visit them and they couldn't once come visit us.' "Marshmallows!" she cursed out loud. she saw the oldest picture there was a family photo that should include everyone in it but her. Somehow she was folded out of the picture. The part where she was beside her mother but kinda tucked into the side was folded out.

As she continued to move towards the door which kinda looked like it had a waiting room in front of it she realized that there were no pictures of her. None whatsoever her face turned red in fury. Fredrick saw her face slowly turn red but as her face was kinda hidden by her bangs he thought it was an emotional response of being sad. Any other type of response she was having it didn't occur to him to be something different.

Fredrick looked towards Lana "Lana would you please take a seat as I see if he is ready to see you?" she put back on a shy but embarrassed face slightly biting her lips trying to look pitiful. Her mom new she still held a grudge against her father all these years and with out her to calm the storm brewing in her she was going to try to make him feel the same way she did all these years.

She nodded her head and sat down in the seat like a proper young lady. The whole time Avery in the background was shocked. He knew her true colors but at the same time wouldn't reveal them he wanted this assignment to end and end now. he decided that he would use his Trump card that he had stashed away in case of emergency. Out of his bag he pulled out...
