Tiny Terror of the Aether Era

The end of the dungeon era and the beginning of the aether era. It begins with the worlds saviour being betrayed. Aether Era, year 400, a tiny terror is reborn. Will she live to see the new era she helped to create or is it the end of her life for good? Will she be able to get revenge? What new challenges await? —- This is an idea I had for an original novel based off dungeon novels I have read before because I had been wondering what happens to the world after the hero or heroes conquer the dungeons and restore peace to the world. Inis

Within a dark cave there was a small and slimy looking egg or cocoon shaped object which occasionally moved as if there was some form of life within it.

It expanded and restricted like it was breathing or the life form inside was more active.

Several creatures entered the cave that were about one meter tall and had scaly reptile-like skin, large batlike ears, three sharp claws on their feet and hands along with equally sharp teeth.

They each had slightly different looks and colour shades or combinations of green, brown and black.

One by one, they bent over like they were in great pain and then a scaly ball was released from their back which landed among the already existing cocoons which were a little bigger.

Only one among the group was able to release two balls before looking tired out then they all left the cave.

One of the larger cocoons started to grow larger until the thin scaly outer layer started to rip.

A new creature appeared which was very similar to those that had just left the cave.

In the category of monsters that come from the dungeons, there exists a great difference between low level dungeon monsters and high level ones.

Most lower level dungeons would have include many types of weaker monsters like imps, goblins, gremlins and so on.

Some fit into the beast category while others fit into the monster or demon category but the creatures that were within the cave were called Gremlins.

Gremlins like other smaller creatures fall under the category of tiny terrors because while they are weak, they can overwhelm others with numbers or by surprise attacks by making use of their small size to hide in small spaces.

Some monsters reproduce naturally while others have their own unique methods of doing so, the Gremlins use a small part of their energy to release a ball from their bodies which forms into their children but they can only do that every couple of days unless they possess higher power.

During the times when dungeons were around, the Gremlins lived within the lower dungeons and had limited chances to grow more powerful but they could constantly multiply which allowed them to often overflow the dungeons limitations.

Monster floods happened as a result and the monsters were either killed or they found some place for themselves in the world.

After humanity lost its source of power from the system or status, most of the remaining monsters lost the source of their power which lead many to be unable to discover a path how to grow stronger while some eventually found their way.

Since monster cores no longer existed, other monsters could not take the path of devouring the monster cores of other monsters while humans could not use the monster cores for making artefacts and other things.

Some monsters, beasts, demons, alien races or humanoid races were difficult to identify for their own gender and low level ones did not possess much intellect or defining features but once they reached a stage in power, they would be able to mimic or transform so that their bodies resemble a human shaped form if they chose to.

Some chose to keep their various traits and skin colour once transformed while others chose to completely change to blend in with the humans to avoid being attacked.

A very select few had children with other races which resulted in hybrids.

The dungeon era was a time where many fantasy or mythical legends seemed to come to life but were humanities enemies but after the last dungeon was conquered, the remnants were no longer bound to the dungeons and had to find their own path.

Throughout the many years, the Gremlins had continued to struggle to overcome their destructive nature and their place as a lesser monster so they continued to be hunted down by humans and other less intelligent creatures.

The creature was previously curled up within the scaly egg shaped cocoon but upon emerging, its body was revealed after the slimy layer was removed.

It had bright green skin with a slightly lighter underbelly, a small dark spike coming out of each brow, the top of its cheeks and shoulders while there was a lighter green colouration on the back of its thigh and calf.

It had light magenta eyes, dark green and wide lips with sharp teeth, long ears with purple lines on the edges and messy medium length light purple hair.

The newly born Gremlin looked around with intelligent eyes filled with curiosity then a slightly taller but hunchbacked Gremlin emerged.

It pointed its clawed finger towards her and said. "Ini.. Inis.."

The older Gremlin spoke unclearly as if it could not pronounce words properly or was talking in a strange language but the newly born Gremlin realised the intent behind his words and actions.

As the hunchbacked Gremlin let, the smaller female Gremlin remained standing frozen in place. 'This is not what I had in mind if I ever reincarnated.. what kind of bad luck is this?! I guess my new identity is Inis.. well it is not so bad since I would need a new identity. Let me think over what was discovered about the traits or strengths of the Gremlins first.'

Inis sat down on the ground and was in deep thought. 'Gremlins are highly destructive and mischievous monsters, they can eat just about anything without being harmed, they seem able to adapt to use or understand technology and other advanced things but due to their destructive natures, they much prefer to disassemble rather than assembling or building anything. They can create give birth by expending some of their energy which would require them to spend a little time resting.'

The Gremlins physiology and abilities were very similar to how they had been portrayed through folktales and in movies or books but with a couple of minor changes.

They did not have weaknesses to sunlight or would give birth once exposed to water but would have to use their own power to produce another of their species.

While they did possess the abilities of disassembly or deconstruction, they had the additional abilities of having mechanical intuition and repairing but most Gremlins were never able to make use of it because they either remained within the dungeons or preferred to destroy rather than inventing or creating something.

They could eat or consume anything without having harmful effects so some rare Gremlins were able to grow in power after consuming monster crystals or other sources of power.

Their greatest ability was to replicate because they could use their small size and numbers to cause a great amount of destruction or overwhelm their enemies.

Inis thought over the applications of her new physiology then stood up. "Sys..tem? Sta…tus?"

Appearance has been tweaked a little and may change in later chapters of I have failed to miss any mentions of the appearance. The initial appearance has been edited and will be used from now on in oater chapters that are uploaded.
