Chapter 1: system

The twenty third of September 2044 on the top of a tall building a young man could be seen standing on the roof.

At 11:00 pm it was currently nighttime, on the edge of the said building the young man was staring silently at a world below him, although it was a beautiful sight to see colorful lights fill up the streets and roads from the street lights and brightly lit billboards it was however disgusting to him, everything was white and black to him.

From his point of view the cars looked like little race cars which brought back some childhood memories the times when he had nothing to worry about and enjoyed life with his family.

He was not in the right state of mind 'depressed' would be the word for it, the wind brushed mildly against his black hair to reveal his handsome face. He stared up at the moon above him and sighed "So today is my birth day huh, dying a virgin" he muttered as he took a few steps forward and leaned over the edge, he was looking like he hadn't slept for a few days because there were dark circles under his eyes.

The thought of him leaving the world without leaving anything behind disgusted him, no lover, no children, not even a family.

The world beneath him was far away yet it seemed so close putting word to it that he was over 60 stories high "if I fall from this height it is possible that all the bones in my body will be smashed into tiny bits and plus it's a faster way to die anyway" he muttered under his breath as he gulped down a glob of saliva.

He stared towards the moon and noticed something weird in the sky it looked like a meteor as it was shining brighter and kept increasing in size, as it was also headed for his location

"Huh what's that?" the young man muttered under his breath as he looked at the object in the sky

"Why does that 'meteor' keep increasing in size?" he said to himself

His eyes widened as he realized that the flying object wasn't increasing in size but headed for his location "Wait it's not increasing in size it's coming at my location"

He smirked as he looked at the flying object and said "this is where the journey of Alex Forrester ends, it's not like anyone would care, and a death like this would have no traces so long I hope I get reincarnated in a better world"

He then jumped down.

While he fell headfirst towards the ground, it felt like the world was upside-down and moving in slow motion, unknowing to him the flying object was still headed his direction as it kept growing smaller till it became the size of a palm then it slammed into his forehead and surprisingly it wasn't painful, Alex was confused. Then a pentagram mark formed on his forehead, then

"Huh?" he said but his voice wasn't audible due to the force of gravity. Did he hear that right? 'Maybe I'm dead' he thought but that couldn't be right, right?

He looked around and found out he wasn't falling anymore, and he saw people talking around him

Then he fell down and passed out

"Huh? I'm not dead"

Alex woke up and found himself laying on a bed in a hospital.

"I'm not even injured the slightest"

The sun was rising from the east as rays of light permeated through the windows ahead of him.

He slowly sat up and looked around, then a nurse walked in and said "you're awake? How are you feeling?"

"I'm fine I guess, how long has it been?" Alex asked.

"Um it's just been a day since you've been here"

"An entire night has passed!?" Alex asked the nurse, as his eyes widened in shock

"Yes it has been a day… I'm coming, let me get the doctor to do a check-up on you to see if you are okay to leave" the nurse said as she left Alex to think about what happened.

'How am I not dead?' Alex asked himself.

Alex tried to think hard about what occurred few moments before he passed out midair. He took his mind back, moment by moment, then he suddenly remembered himself hovering in the air then just before passing out he heard a few words

"What was it" he thought "a type of system message" then he saw a rectangular blinking light on his right.

His eyes focused on the black rectangular blinking light and something shocking happened.

- [Hello host]

Letters immediately appeared in his line of sight.

"Huh, what's this?" Alex voiced out with a look of amazement

He shook his left and right but still couldn't get the letters out of his line of sight

"Either I am going crazy or this is a dream, yeah this as to be a dream when I close my eyes and open it everything will go back to normal" Alex said as he laid down and closed his eyes

A few seconds later he opened his eyes only to see more letters lined up in his vision.

-[Dumb host you have been chosen to wield great power, you have five seconds to decide if you want this power or not, you may decide to say no but this may only lead to your death choose now]

- [The countdown has begun]

- [Five]

- [Four]

- [Three, Does host accept this new power?]

"Yeah sure whatever" Alex said as he had no qualms for whatever was going to happen even if he actually died

- [Congratulations for accepting this new power, your fate has now been changed]

"Which power is it this thing talking about anyways?"

- [Your body shall now undergo evolution and trial examination]

"Trial huh?"

- [Host shall remain unconscious for 24 hours]

"Guess I'll know when I wake up" Alex said

He closed his eyes a few seconds and immediately passed out.
