1 Prologue

Time. It's one of those words: simple say, and yet yielding a complex understanding. When humanity came into existence, time had no meaning. It didn't exist. That was, until, we began to think. Think about how much time has passed. About the time that will come. About the time that we are now in. We got to the point where we were able to create a system for us to understand the concept of time. Our understanding of time has gained a multitude of meanings; the systematic definition of temporal illusion became an ideal that some, maybe many, are willing to accept. It became a force. A power that many, ranging from leaders to the syndicates, hoped to claim for themselves. This...is what lead to the world's temporal reboot.

It was June 20, 2018. Chaos. Destruction. Confusion. The world was plunged in a war for power; a battle of countries against their own in the hopes of acquiring an impossible power. According to some journals, on January 22, 2018, there was a cult that called themselves the Chronological Puppets. They were a group of radical individuals with the belief that time was a power that can harnessed and manipulated. With little knowledge, it is said that they hoped to create a new god with time as it's weapon...and they as the loyal servants. Unfortunately, their society was unable to remain a secret. Once unveiled, civilians of all classes and government officials rendered them as a joke; a laughing stock that never hoped to contribute to history. On April 2, the Chronological Puppets did the impossible: they created a power that's capable of manipulating time. That power came to be when the cult forced an elderly man to undergo a binding ritual. Thus, on that day, Father Time was born. A man no longer bounded by the concept time. To forever remain as time progresses and he won't be able to age any further. Once word got out, the world was meant to be in awe. Instead, greed and envy clouded the judgement of humanity. For months, using time to manipulate their environment, the cult seldom held their own against the world. It was war...and each country was willing to destroy themselves. The Chronological Puppets traversed around the world with Father Time. On June 20, they were at their last stand in Europe, as many members had passed away. Father Time held his tongue for months, but reached his limit after the final wave on Earth. A full scale bombing that destroyed cities and cost many lives worldwide. Father Time surfaced with guiding words to those that remained: rebuild, replenish, and realign. And so we did.

With Father Time's power and guidance, our technology was seemingly more powerful, our lands replenished thanks to his temporal abilities, and the world was back on track. However, he feared one thing: human nature. It was the one thing guaranteed to bring about destruction. And so, before his disappearance, Father Time entrusted a man and a woman a fragment of his powers. The powers came in the form of pocketwatches. He deemed them to be Time Keepers, and the power will choose those of worthy ambitions once their previous owners have passed. Nowadays, that story is a myth; nothing but mirrors and smokescreens to fool kids. And yet, there are myths that are based off of truths.
