Chapter 6

“Lemme just change real quick!” she shouted at Brandon. She didn’t wait for him to argue with her before disappearing into the sanctuary of the bus.

Macaulay stopped just inside the door, resisting her efforts to pull him farther into the bus. “I can just wait outside.”

“Stay. You said you were mine for the whole day.” As she walked down the aisle for the cupboard with her clothes in it, she peeled her sweaty tank over her head. She wore just her bra and jeans by the time she opened it and pulled out a clean T-shirt. “So what kind of restaurant should we look for tonight?”

“Um…”

She glanced over her shoulder to see Macaulay staring at her. Their eyes met, and he quickly looked away.

“There’s a brewery and a steakhouse just a few miles away,” he said, his eyes still averted. “You might have passed it. I think that’s a good place for…a first date?”

“Is that what we’re going to call it?” Wendy teased. “Seems weird considering how long we’ve known each other.”
