Chapter 11

Her fingers faltered, but before he lost the moment, they picked up the melody again. Wendy wasn’t paying attention to her playing, though. Every time he glanced in her direction, her intense eyes were fixed on him, large and solemn. Once, her tongue darted out to moisten her lower lip, and he almost lost his place, but then the music found him, sucked him back in to finish the ride all the way to the end.

She sat there, silent, for long seconds. A thin sheen of perspiration made her skin glow, but she was oblivious to the heat. Carefully, she set aside her guitar again and crawled forward until only inches separated them.

“We are going to be fucking spectacular together.” Without waiting for a response, she captured his mouth in a slow, hungry kiss.
