Ch 203: Tiny Bean

BOOM! Big cracks of thunder tumbled through the bedroom. My sleepy eyelids broke open to see a nasty storm brewing. Zaps of lightning struck across the sky in garish colorations. Chilly air forces the glass doors wide open.

"Kai..." I slant far enough back to notice his bedside was empty and around the room he was nowhere in sight. BOOM! Rumbles from the storm alerted me to look at the balcony. Both swinging glass doors creaked and the curtains flapped around like a flag from the hurling breeze.

I get out of bed and slowly go over. But as I got closer I found this dark figure standing there. From his collar to his boots, he was cloaked in black clothing, and his trench coat blew against the whistling wind.

"Kai?" He didn't answer and stood no differently than a stone statue. Only red eyes pieced into my soul.

"Kai, you're freaking me out," my voice floundered shakier. The pit in my gut told me something was wrong, but I still daringly moved closer. Lightning lit the shady man and this malicious grin provoked me to utter fear.

"REX!" I shrieked when he lunged in the air. My back hit the bed and his fearsome fangs ripped into my throat! "AAAAAH"

~~~
My eyes snapped open to see a thunderstorm rumbling outside. Only the glass doors were shut tight. And I felt movement over my hip.
"Kai?" I rolled over and found him not only sleeping but he was snuggled tightly to me. His arm was curled around my hip as he moved and groaned in his sleep.
It's weird to see that a vampire can sleep so soundly. And I wasn't sure when I fell asleep. Nor did I know when he came to bed. The last I remember he was watching tv when I must've dozed off.
"What's wrong, my love?" He asked in this sleepy voice.
I rolled his way for comfort. Anytime a bad dream would occur, Orlando never failed to comfort me, but Kai can be insensible to deal with him. Surprisingly, he rubbed the locks of my hair between his fingers. A gentle agate gaze welcomed me with love. It's like the first Kai I met wasn't the same Kai I am used to. This new side of Kai appeared loving. His other self was erratic because of his weird mood swings. Although never once had he ever intentionally harmed me.
"Did you have a bad dream?" He asked me more sweetly.
As the storm surged violently outside, I replied. "I dreamt Rex was here and he ripped my neck open."
Kai smiled lovingly, "I will protect you from him."
I said nothing in reply and cuddled closer to his chest. He held me and further soothed me by massaging my back between the covers. A heavy slumber fell upon my eyelids while his warmness cozied me up in his brace.
Sunset arose to geese leaving south for the winter. Kai was long gone, so I got up and was ready to enjoy my Saturday. After breakfast, I spent time with my pregnant horse Sky. Thereafter, I entered inside and walked around.
"Awe, she's so precious and beautiful like her mommy," I overheard Veronica's voice, coming from this one room. I wandered in and found it was another lanai that had a different onlook to the outdoor swimming pool.
Inside this lanai had a fake wall fireplace and a fish tank was built inside a half wall on the left. To the right was a bar where I found Ace reading a book, Glenn was only chilling with a beverage, and Veronica was cooing over a baby girl, Mia was holding.
I went over and sat next to Mia at the edge of the bar. I looked at the cute tiny bean cocoon in this pink blanket. Bright forest eyes observed the room.
"Who's this little cutie?" I asked, awed at how beautiful this baby is.
"She's my niece," Mia shone at her between me and Ace. "She's two months old."
"How is she related to you?" I asked, smilingly at the baby squirming in her arms.
"Oh, she's from Ivan's younger brother's wife," Mia replied. "I don't have any blood-related family because Ivan turned me."
"Ohh, I did not know that," I said and everyone chuckled at me.
Across the bar from us, between Veronica and Glenn, randomly, Ivan popped in from out of nowhere.
"Is there a reason why we have a baby crib in our room?" He smirked when questioning Mia.
Mia giggled, "yes, your brother asked me to babysit her. So he can have quality time with his wife."
"Just what he needs is another baby," Ivan said which caused Ace and Glenn to laugh.
"Oh, stop being like that, Ivan," Veronica teasingly scorned. "I know you love your nieces and nephews."
Ivan chuckled, "of course, but don't tell my brothers and sisters that, or else I'll always be a permanent babysitter."
We laughed at his remark as the baby cooed over us.
"Awe, she is a very adorable vamp..." I stopped talking to realize she was a vampiress baby.
Mia giggled, "it's ok, Victoria. She's just like any baby born in this world."
Veronica proposed, "you should hold her and get a feel for it. Your little bundle of joy will be here before you know it."
"That's one way to force," Glenn commented and across from him, Ace veered up from the book he was reading to smirk at Glenn.
Before I could oppose otherwise. Mia started passing me the baby. So I cuddled the tiny bean in my arms.
The vamp baby was so delicate and fragile like a glass china doll. Her eyes looked at me as she made tiny infant snorting and cooing noises. I was in awe at how she wiggled about in my arms. She was beautiful and innocent like any infant brought up in this world. Mia was right. She was no different than a human infant.
So I thought when she closed her eyes and yawned. My eyes gaped with quite the expression when two-needle-thin fangs poked out from her upper pinkish gums. Sure enough, it was quite a shocker for me. I looked at Mia and her eyes were bulging from her sockets.
"Oh, she's an earlier fanger like her Uncle Ivan," Mia sheepishly said. "Don't worry, she's still harmless."
Across from the bar, Ivan chuckled, "yeah, just be sure you don't let her mouth touch your flesh, or she might feed."
Oh, may! I could feel my eyesight widening much bigger. "Ok, I think I've had enough enjoyment with her," I awkwardly giggled and I gently gave her back to Mia. She chuckled and took her without complaint.
