Ch 185: Everywhere Unseen

I took a seat on this plastic picnic table before I fainted.

"I'm sorry Kai is being like this," Rose sat beside me, whispering.

I spurned her sympathy and asked. "How many of your Kind exist?"

"Any high authority like police, FBI, detectives, agents, hotels, celebrities, politics, management, Doctors, CEOs, and genuinely anywhere, depending on the rank. Is the field we work under and manage it. We've coexisted with humans only to let you humans think you rule this world when you don't," Rose gently admitted.

Therefore it's furthermore true in my mind. Vampires were everywhere unseen living in our world. Anybody you cross by or have known for a lifetime could be one too. A woman could be carrying one unaware that she's carrying a vamp baby inside her womb.

"I'm surprised you've gone unseen for so long," I whispered out of anxiety.

"We can control what the human eye can see. We can look older or younger to them if we want," Rose shared and I can believe that. Seeing how I witnessed it firsthand with my Professor, Mrs. Nasberry today, but I didn't mention this to Rose.

"Anybody who finds out the truth..."

"Must be vanquished," Rose ended my sentence. "There are tons of human cops working for the sheriff. Not even they can know the truth."

"And you honestly feed on children and babies?" I asked with watery eyes while I watched the little girl play. Like she had forgotten about what happened to her.

Rose painfully sough. "It's more common with vampires compared to vampiresses, but not to say we haven't. If I'm being honest here because of my enviousness. I would have killed you as a baby because I loved Kai at the time and felt you took him from me."

I was rather surprised to hear this confession and asked. "I thought Ace was your mate?"

"He is," Rose shared. "Once Kai disappeared to find you, Ace was there for me and then he told me later on that we were mates. Of course, he was an idiot for not telling me from the beginning. But he said Kai made me happy so he backed off. Although I know it's caused him great pain to see his friend and Alpha be with me over him."

"I suppose that would have been very hard for Ace," I whispered, sadly to think Kai is likely in pain over me, but I can't help what I feel for Orlando. And Kai's actions don't make it susceptible to love him. Which is why I want nothing to do with him.

I thought as Rose continued talking. "Indeed, but Ace only caused his own pain. In your situation, I hope you can understand how Kai feels about you and the pain he's in. No matter what he does, Kai loves you dearly. He will always be there for you when you need him. The whole time, Kai stayed nearby when you were at the Mills to keep you safe."

I couldn't comment on that remark and changed the conversation to look for other answers that are on my mind.

"What happened that night when Rex almost got me?" I asked, looking into her emerald eyes to confirm answers.

Then Rose confided, "Kai was feeding, not sleeping with her. Feeding is disguised to look sexual but it's only a deception. It lures prey in easier to flirt with them and it throws people off to think something steamy is going on when that victim is dying during the process if anyone does see it. Therefore it's important to know, Kai is only attracted to you and will forever love you. If it looks like he's flirting, he's only lining up his meals because he doesn't eat human food as some vampires might."

"If that's all so true. Then why didn't Kai smell my presence since he had such a perceptive insight? Shouldn't he have known Rex was nearby?' I asked these two challenging questions.

Rose sighed, "whenever we feed our defense is down and we don't always notice our surroundings because we are in a blood craze. And Kai fed so fast that he was already inside looking for you when Rex made his attack."

"That's why feeding is disguised as sexual because that's a time a vampire and vampiress become vulnerable?" I asked to confirm this and Rose nodded her head, yes to answer me.

"Just to prove that he didn't cheat. we kept the body of that woman and we have the security footage," Rose clarified, meaningfully.

"After we leave, can I see it?" I asked, watching the child go down a slide.

"Of course, and I also feel you should know, Kai has never been controlling or overbearing like this. You need to remember you have control over him even if it doesn't appear that way. You need to start connecting with him so he can chill down and be himself again. The clan needs our Alpha back with you by his side as our Queen."

I couldn't hold this discussion anymore. Luckily, the Sheriff returned shortly with the girl's parents. They ran to their child and hugged her. My heart was torn when I found out Kai snatched her from playing in the backyard while her mother was doing laundry outside. Of course, the parents didn't know that but I figured it out.

"How can we ever repay you?" They asked me and I couldn't do such a thing to take their money.

"I'm only glad she's safe," was the only thing I could say.

After saying my goodbyes, the Sheriff showed me the security footage from that night Rex nearly got me. It confirmed that Kai was holding the woman back while he fed but he wasn't sleeping with her. It even showed whenever I showed up and left. Within a few seconds, Kai was cleaning himself up, after he hid the body in a dumpster. Then he went inside and I noticed he wasn't sniffing the air.

After watching it, Rome took us to the morgue and I saw the body of the same woman that night. The bites were right where I thought Kai was nibbling on her neck. Only now I understood, he certainly wasn't nibbling. Heartsick about it, I saw enough proof and we left for home. When I looked up out the window, I glared to find Kai on the rooftop of this one building. Across the street watching me. Then he disappeared like a phantom unseen.
