Chapter 1: Michael Ji-hoon Kim
I’m Michael Ji-hoon Kim, a medical student here at Seoul National University. I know you might be curious about my name. The truth is I’m half Thai and half Korean. Yes you read it right, my mother is Thai and my father is Korean. For them to be married my mother should agree to leave Thailand and live with my father in South Korea for good. I am the first fruit of their love, I have 3 younger sisters. I’m currently in my 4th year in college, 2 more years I’ll be graduating but still need to have further studies, I still have to take up a masters degree. I’m a top student here in our school. Not only top but also a popular student. My locker is always full with gifts from the students from different departments. Confessions are the most common content of their letters but for me, I have no time for that. I want to focus on my study, knowing my course needs more time and attention and I have a long way to go. I need to be a doctor, and I need to work for 1 year before I can fulfill my dream. Confuse? Or curious? Well it’s a tradition of our family, that every first born should either be a doctor or a lawyer. At first I don’t want to follow these things but the consequence is I need to sign an agreement that I will no longer be a part of the house of Kim. My father persuaded me to do it in exchange, he promised me that all I just needed to do is that after my study, I’ll work for 1 year as a doctor after that I could have my freedom to do whatever I want to do. As I have no choice I decide to agree with it, keeping in mind that after this I will be free and I can reach my dream. I dream to be an artist, and currently I have my own group. Our group is flexible but the main stream of us is music and singing. We do a dance performance every night on the street. We have our own studio where we record a song and sell them to different companies. This is how my life revolves, some of my friends will set me up to a blind date but none of it made me interested. My standards? I don’t know, all I know for now no love life.
“Michael, what are your plans for tonight?” Min asked me.
Min is like an older brother to me. He is the brother that I never had. He is an heir to their family, one day he will take over as their company's CEO.
“Well , I still don’t know hyung, I need to finish some paper. How about I’ll just message you later?” We are here in the school canteen, taking our lunch.
“Okay.” he replied.
After taking lunch, we separated going to our class. I still have 2 subjects left.
Around 4:30 pm when our class ended. I’m so tired, I walked towards the parking lot.
I saw my car, but there is an unfamiliar woman standing in front of it, she is holding something like a gift box.
Oh no, here we go again.
Another heart will be broken.
As soon as she saw me, she smiled so wide, it looked like she’s so excited.
Fighting Mew, you can do this!
As I got nearer to her, she immediately extended her arms, giving me the gift box.
“Michael, I have a huge crush on you for over a year already. Please accept my confession and give me a chance!”
What should I say to her without hurting her feelings.
But wait I will still hurt her feelings since I can’t accept her, no choice please don’t curse me.
“Sorry miss, I’m happy to hear that you like me, but I’m sorry that I can’t accept your love. I hope you understand and I hope someday you could find the right man for you.”
After saying that I got inside the car and drove off.
