crashing the party 1

The party in the Dew's Mansion was going to be a small one given the princess was on a royal mission and there was nothing really being celebrated. Although it was going to be a small one, in the eyes of someone that had never been to any of this Kind of events it would be the biggest event they had ever seen. This was the case for Sam and Ben who had been given the rolls of extra security guards for the event. Their Job was to patrol the surrounding and make sure nothing and no one suspicious got close.

Even though most people here could be considered small time nobles the princess was another different case. The whole noble class of Miaan risked losing their lives if the red queen heard her daughter suffered a scratch in their city.

As each member of the noble houses got to the front gate they were asked for the first slip of invitation, after providing that they would be allowed to enter, then after they got to the second gate their guard would be barred from going further, and at each gate they had several detectors that help to detect any dangerous crystals or weapons anyone may carry.

If this was just an ordinary party, most nobles would have complained about the security measures, but if it got them to see and talk with the princess, it was definitely worth it.

Sam and Ben were doing their Job and Sam finally asked Ben

"So you think he would be alright?"

"Yes, I think so Ben replied. Since we had helped him with what he asked for, I think he's got everything else covered."

"But he's just a kid." Sam said still surprised

"Yes, but he works for the princess so..

I still think his mask was still quite creepy though."

They both remembered what had happened earlier in afternoon as they were getting ready for lunch. Both officers were about to go for their lunch when they noticed a boy wearing a mask following them, at first they thought it was just one of the kids trying to spook them but after a while they decided to lure the person into a corner and teach the kid a lesson. As they thought they had successfully led Gor to the required spot, the boy spoke from above their hiding spot making both officers raise their guards guessing there were not dealing with an ordinary kid.

"Who are you?" Ben asked immediately Gor came down from the building he was on top.

"Calm down officers" Gor said as he removed his mask.

"Y- You are that kid from yesterday". Sam said remembering Gor.

"Why are you following us?" Sam asked.

"I need your help with something" Gor said. "Can we talk somewhere else?" he suggested feeling the tension was building up and there was a need to change to a better location to ease their fears.

Although the officers played hard to get but after telling them what it was about they later agreed and Gor suggested they go to the home of Mr. Rondo, the stall owner they usually ate, Since he would also be needing his help. After a while of walking they all got to his house and Mr. Rondo was surprised to see Gor with the officers. He had alot of questions, but Gor had told everyone to hold on to their questions until he finished explaining.

"First of all I want you to know that you are not going to believe everything I tell you and since we have no time and I don't want to be interrupted I want you to just keep imagining if what you are hearing is true then imagine the possibilities of what I'm saying could mean".

All three men looked at each other and they could only nod.

"Firstly my name is Gor and I'm one of the princesses personal guard. She had tasked me with finding more about the missing persons in Miaan since there is a huge suspicions from the capital that Lord Dew is behind all of this. That is why she was sent here under the pretext of visiting the refugees." Gor explained.

All three men looked at each other and they knew they couldn't believe what their ears where earing but given what Gor had told them earlier, they opened their minds to the possibility.

Gor went on to further, explain how he had separated himself from the princess Entourage so he could investigate independently, he told them he had seen missing persons case in the morning and that had led him to follow one of Lords guards into the forest where he saw him putting some bodies in a barrel in the woods. Immediately the guards asked Gor to take them there but he told them, that was not enough proof to arrest the Lord of Miaan since that would only prove that one of his men was an accomplice not him. Gor told them he needed help getting into the Mansion and he also asked the officers how many official report did they have of the missing people. At this, the officers answered a bit between 30 and forty and Gor told them it was more than that. As proof he brought out some of the properties of several victims he found at the place, including the bracelet of the girl from the previous night, Mr. Rondo's worker.

The revelation gave them quite a shock and Mr. Rondo could not help but feel said about the death of such young and vibrant girl.

After he was done explaining, Ben asked why he needed their help given he was with the princess, couldn't they just barge in and arrest the whole Dew's and demand an explanation.

"Do you think arresting a noble house without any proof is wise, even for royals, it a bit over the top and it would only cause trouble for the royal family.

And like I said earlier I'm not officially with the princesses entourage so I need to do this independently and covertly, once I get the proof the princess will handle the rest, so everything is riding on whether we can get the proof we need tonight or not, after tonight we don't have another shot, so, are you in?" Gor asked both men.

They both looked at each other and they did not know what to say, on one hand Gor could be lying or could be the killer but he just got to Miaan yesterday so he couldn't be responsible for the things that have been going on for two months now, his proof about the grave site was also compelling making them want to believe him. If he was wrong, and they wrongly accused a Lord, they were sure to kiss their jobs and maybe even lives too.

But if they were correct, and they were able to bring the killer to justice, that would mean an instant promotion for both of them, that meant no more patrolling, no more chasing pick pockets and no more following the errands boy orders they were always given.

After weighing the pros and cons the officer agreed to help.

"So, what do you need us to do.." Ben asked Gor.

"I heard you saying your sister is catering for the party, can she help me get inside the Mansion... "

That was how they had found themselves in the position they were, volunteering to be additional security for the event and they also used the opportunity to get Gor into the party. At first Ben's sister wanted to kill him but when he said it was related to serious work she employed Gor as one of her staff,

"If he causes me trouble I'm going to boil your testicles and feed it to you" she said as she finally agreed to her brothers request.

Gor had finally gotten what he wanted, he had taken a huge gamble but he finally paid off. His plan had made him remember how Kor would always tell him to always remember details since it could be critical in making a good plan. It seem Kor's nagging are finally paying off.
