Battle for Shuozhou Pass

We arrived at the training camp outside the city, after we finished getting ourselves enlisted

Noticing that normal citizens aren't allowed inside

Hao bid us his farewell

"Well though it's quite unfortunate, but I must go, I have a business to run and lots of women to attract"

With that he left as we waved him goodbye

"Come on guys, lets go inside"

Wei urge quite excitedly, as he led us to look at the different training grounds for different types of troops

After familiarising ourselves on our surroundings, we finally went our separate ways

With Wei going back to his station inside the city, Gang heading towards the shield bearers unit, with Ku going towards the dao unit, and finally with me and Yun, both going towards the jian unit

Walking side by side, we both finally arrived at the training ground

looking around, you noticed how everyone were using shields

"Should we have bought shields for ourselves?"

I asked Yun, confused on what to do, as he too just shruggs and chuckle at our current predicament

~Sigh~

Seeing that we have no idea on what to do, we went to find someone to ask for instructions

But as I was about to take my first step, every hair on my body stood on ends as I dodge something coming for my shoulder

Taking out my sword I turned around to look at the man standing behind Yun

His hand holding Yuns shoulder, Yun's sweat dribble down his face

" You dodge my hand impressive"

The man told me, he then looked at Yun

"Your strong, but inexperienced"

Seeing him talking calmly without any sign of hostility

I sigh in relief, as I sheathed my sword and bowed in respect

"May this junior, know this respected seniors name"

Hearing my respectful tone he nods

"Hmm, no need to call me senior, I'm still too young to be called that"

He pats Yun shoulder, as he told us who he is

~Ahem~

"1st ranked general, Gao Shun of the Bingzhou army, Commanded by Grand General Lu Bu"

Realising his position, me and Yun saluted in respect

He nods at the gesture, as he answered our earlier question

"Your skills should be enough, to not need a shield in battle"

Complimenting our skill we thanked him, after that he finally left

I sighed, as I looked at Yun His face brimming with excitement

"General Gau complimented our skills, oh I'm so rubbing this on the others faces"

Shacking my head at his antics, I left him to his own thoughts

I then went and trained, to hone my skills as I felt that my strength wasn't enough to fulfill my ambition, seeing as men like general Gau and general Lu bu exist

There must be more people like them scattered around the land

"If I ever want to stand toe to toe with them, I must get stronger, even stronger than all of them"

With that thought in my mind, I pushed my self to the very limit, giving it my all into getting stronger

To be above them all

...

Lu Bu's POV

3 weeks has passed

We've left the city a week ago, we're currently near Xinzhou city, as our 25k troops marched forward

The recent report from the North came, telling us that the Mongolian army were finally beginning the siege for Datong

But in a sudden turn of events

Another report came from Shuozhou, which entailed that the mountain pass entering Shuozhou has been taken over by 20k Mongolians troops, blocking our way in and also cutting off the supply line for Datong

General Gau, who was situated at Datong, couldn't prevent it from happening as currently he and General Cheng Lian were helping with defending the city, as the Mongolians proved to be more troublesome than they expected

Feeling myself getting a headache, I ordered for my troops to make camp, as I called for a meeting with my generals at my tent

After a makeshift tent was made, me and my generals stood around a table, as they greet me

"General Song, greets Grand General Lu"

"General Hou, greets Grand General Lu"

"General Wei, greets Grand General Lu"

The three of them bowed in unison, as they finished their greeting

Acknowledging their presence, I layed the map on top of the table

We then began discussing what we should do about the Mongols at the pass

"From the reports I received, there's a total of 20k Mongolian troops at the pass blocking us from entering Shuozhou, does anyone here have any idea, on how we can enter without takinganyhuge risks"

After I finished talking, I waited as my three general looked at the map carefully, trying to find a way in dealing with our current predicament

"General we can't find any other way in, as entering Shuozhou without endangering and also saving time, is quite impossible in our current situation"

Wei replied, as Song nods and continued on speaking in his behalf

"Yes, the only paths we've observed are either going through Mongolian territory, and marching through the dessert, or we go back to pass Yangquan City, entering Jizhou to then encircle around, to get a safe passage towards Datong, but the only problem is, we don't have a lot of time on our hands"

Noting the visible Disadvantage of taking those two paths, I massage my temple as problems are already occurring, even before we got to Datong

"So, what do you propose we do then?"

"General, just behind the mountain pass, there's a small path way leading behind the gates"

Song pointed at the map, as he devised a plan

"If we can sneak in someone behind them, while the army acts as a distraction, we can possibly open the gates in the mids of the chaos, giving us a path to push towards their defences and wiping out their entire army"

Thinking for a bit, I approve of his plan and I asked the most vital question

"Who's gonna be the one to open the gate?"

"General, I suggest you pick one of us for the job, so that if the plan fails, we can easily escape the vicinity"

I nod at Song's suggestion, as I looked on at my three Generals

"Okay then, who amongst you wants to take this task"

Hearing me ask that question, the three of them half kneeled, then bowed their head, as they said in unison

"General, this humble Song/Wei/Hou happily request in completing this noble task"

I contemplate for a bit, before finally deciding on who to pick

"Hou, I give you the task in making a path for us amidst the Mongolian forces"

"As the General commands"

Hou happily agreed, as both Song and Wei both wore shocked expression, noticing their expression, I gave them the reason why I picked Hou

"The both of you know, that Hou is much stronger than the both of you combined, right?"

Hearing that certain sentence, made them lower their head as they clenched their fist in anger

"Yes General"

"Hmm good, but that's all he is strong, he isn't good at leading troops, always charging head first without a care for his own men"

After I said that, the three of them looked at me as if I'm the most hypocritical man they've ever seen

~Cough~

"So in place of strength, you both have the capability to lead our troops efficiently, so I placed my trust in you, not for your strength, but your ability to lead the soldiers to victory"

Having finished speaking, I was surprised and also annoyed to see both of them crying, snot dripping down their nose, grinding my teeth in anger I yelled at them

💢

"THE FUCK ARE YOU CRYING FOR!!!"

"That was so nice of you General"

"Yeah not gonna lie I almost cried too"

"I LOVE YOU GENERAL!!"

"FUCK!!, GET OUT OF MY TENT!!!"

I then kick them out of the tent, as I hear laughing outside

~Sigh~

"Fucking Dumbasses"
