First Generation Heretic

A bright red color bloomed in the glass orb, mirroring the blood that had spilled on it earlier.

The color reflected in everyone's eyes as they tried to comprehend what they were seeing.

"Red? What?" Tess who saw the color in the orb couldn't believe it, but the firm and scornful shout of the Mage cemented it.

"HERETIC! FIRST GENERATION HERETIC!" Mage Clor exclaimed.

"WHAT!?"

"There's actually one of them here?"

The news soon spread among the people present, their faces filled with shock and disbelief. Even the knights there were stunned as they had not expected to come across a First Generation Heretic.

"They still exist?" Mage Rizal who was standing next to the immortals was confused. "But that… is a teenager." He muttered.

When commoners talked about Heretics, they almost always referred to the first generation Heretics. They were the ones that had spread the terror among the masses and were considered as the most terrifying once upon a time.

But their appearance was a long time ago and a majority had since been eliminated by the Warriors and Mages along with the Immortals that descended from time to time.

The First Generation Heretics came into being when there was a major invasion by the demons. But it had been over a hundred years since that had happened as such it was almost impossible for there to be a First Generation Heretic left.

And even if there were some of them still surviving somewhere they sure as hell won't be young.

Thus the confusion of the Mages was rather understandable.

"Ah!" It was at this time that Immortal Han Mu suddenly cried before a cracking sound was heard.

~KACHA~

A faint string that looked like it was made out of runes had shattered. It was connecting her and Asher, being invisible to everyone earlier. The spell had become visible after having been distributed.

"Han Mu!" Immortal Yan said in concern. 'Her spell shattered?

The cry of the immortal pulled the attention of the people and the Mages, taking their gazes away from Asher momentarily. As such they didn't notice the a black spot that had appeared in the glass orb.

It was rather small, and unless one was close they wouldn't be able to see with it being obscured by the red fog around it. But Asher fully saw it, leaving him unable to comprehended what it was.

'Red with black? I'm a Heretic?' Asher had several questions popping up in his mind.

He could understand the red being there, as he had heard the Mage talk to the immortals. Even if it was faint, he could remember their conversation. But he didn't know if there being the black color there was just normal or something unexpected.

In this period of shock and panic, the Heretic Detector settled down as the fog inside it dissipated, hiding the secret that was momentarily revealed.

But among everyone that was present, there was one person that had not moved their gaze from the Heretic Detector.

'A First Generation Heretic?' The Crazed heretic had a stunned expression on his face, that only lingered for a few seconds before turning incredibly serious.

Gone was the frenzied, crazy look that he had. Now the heretic looks incredibly calm and collected, as if everything before was just an act.

No one knew the thoughts that were going through his mind, but if they did, they would be utterly terrified.

The man's gaze shifted from the glass orb to Asher, as he muttered something under his breath.

'My capture was worth it…' the man thought as he narrowed his eyes.

Next his gaze went to the old woman that was standing behind Asher with an expression of disbelief on her face. It was none other than Asher's grandmother Tess.

'She's not a Heretic… She hasn't been embraced by the demonic powers… How is she his grandmother?' The Heretic wondered.

There was now way for the man to know that Tess wasn't Asher's real grandmother and that they weren't blood related.

"CAPTURE HIM!" Finally the Mage gave out the order, causing the knights to rush in.

They quickly got over their initial shock as they grasped Asher's arms.

"Wha— let me go!" Asher struggled intently.

The trauma from last time was still fresh in his mind, and as such he was even more sensitive to this.

"Hah! I knew it!" All of at sudden a loud voice was heard from the back. "There's no way I the SUPERVISOR could have been wrong!" the fat man shouted with confidence.

"What do you mean?" one of the knights asked.

"That boy was arrested earlier. He was imprisoned in one of the caves but somehow…. He's managed to escape it." The Supervisor replied a smirk appearing on his face.

Hearing that the expressions of several people including the mages changed.

The supervisor was content seeing this and decided to add more oil to the fire.

"Considering the fact that he was chained inside the caves, he should have been dead. But since he's alive and free, being here doesn't it mean that the demons helped him?!" The Supervisor said out loud.

The commoners were all aware of Asher's arrest since they were there too when it happened. They knew how it had happened and also the fact that Asher was going to be stuck there for probably his entire life.

They knew that escaping was almost impossible, thus now that they saw him here it all clicked in place.

"He… really was helped?"

"It can't be right?"

"But he's here… no other prisoner is here now. How can he be the only one alive?" They wondered.

The more they gossiped, the bigger their belief got. Eventually their words became loud enough to be heard by all the others too as the mages caught up on it.

And if they could heard it, there was no way the Immortals could not.

Immortal Wu Lei looked at his female companion, as a look of cold anger appeared on his face before he stood up.
