Threat Level Zero: A Tale of Ascension

At the dawn of time, nine unique races were birthed from the ashes of all that used to be. The Nephilim was one of these nine races, and as their line was wont to do, bred with the other eight, until the bloodlines of the others were too watered down to utilize their Fragments of Creation. The Nephilim, now the humans, gained these powers, with certain lineages holding the potential to birth Manifestations. The descendants of the other species still have dominion over the Fragments of their ancestors, but unlocking this power is the work of millennia. All of them have the potential to return to the greatness of their ancestors, but only humans, the innovative creatures that they are, can become more. This story follows Fate, an assassin taken from his home as a child and subjected to sick experiments that awakened his Manifestation. With a new family, he aims to wipe the organization that subjected him to such treatment from the face of reality. But the Advanced have other plans.

Announcement: Dropping

After a lot of thought, I've decided to drop this novel.

I originally started around six months ago as a way to fill my day with something to do, and I enjoyed it at first.

But writing two thousand words a day, every day, for months on end for no reason other than because I felt I needed to continue was enough to quickly suck the joy out of writing for me.

So, I've decided to stop.

I'm proud of the power system I've created, and to a lesser extent, the world I've built, but there were many times I felt I made a mistake story-wise. I might start writing again later, at a more moderate pace, with this power system, or I may pick up this novel again in the future.

I have several hundred chapters' worth of future plot points in my notes that I'm sad I never got around to, but without the motivation to sit down and write, I know I'll never get to those regardless.

I've published the chapters I had in reserve as a way to give myself some closure, which is why you saw five chapters today.

To the few of you who stuck around for over 330 chapters, thank you.

Signing off for now, Lolbroman25
