New job

They returned to the phoenix mansion and spoke with Roland about the things that happened in the ruins and then paid them with gold. The chalice and water wasn't usefull for them, so they did not take it, but because of the problems they had, they got compensations.

They asked him about more jobs, but he had none in mind at the moment, so they said their goodbyes and left the mansion.

After returning to the guild they showed the certificate they got from Roland for completing the job. Emilia was happy about that they succesfully did the job. They stayed there to eat and drink for the rest of the day. They took the day off.

Maria left them meanwhile and returned to her home. She had other things to do as she said.

Next day they went back to the guild to look for an other job. They've found a job to go to a mine not that far away, which got occupied with goblins. While they took on the quest they heard news from the battle at the fort. The monsters attacking it have been slayed.

Appereantly a group of elit soldiers of 10 people have appeared and turned the side of the battle slaughtering the siegers. Noone knows where they came from or who they are, but they wear cloaks and masks so noone saw any details on them. After the fights they disappeared again, like they wasn't even there.

Joseph and Cathrine got a new medal made from bronz for their accomplishments. After puting them away they headed to the place where the miners resided. They hesitated to let just the two of them take on the job, but they belived that the guild knows what they are doing so let them go with them to the mine.

It took them the rest of the day to get there and they slept in the few cabins that were outside of the mine for the miners to rest in. In the morning they went in to do the job.

The mine was wet and had an earthy smell to it. The place was lit up by lanterns at the entrance and then it was dark at the deeper parts. Wooden supports were at every few meters from eachother to keep the mine safe. The tunnels changed directions and split a few times, but the miners taught them where to go, so they had no problems getting forward.

As they descended downwards the walls started to get stranger. They had different colors to them. Red, blue and yellow.

It looked like someone painted over them. Catherine stopped and examined them.

"Seems like they got someone who can use magic. These are glyphs of warding. Let me dispel them."

She touched one and it lit up in blue color. After a few seconds the light died down and the blue parts of the wall returned to normal.

"Now they know we are here. Protect me while I work on the others."

"Alright."

They heard some stones moving from further inside. Joseph sent a ball of light in there. A few goblins were on the way down deeper to the mine.

"This is going to be easy."

He touched the ground and waited until they started to run up on the way. When they got up halfway he made the ground slippery. All of them fell down and slipped to the bottom crushing eachother. Only three of them stood up. They ran away shouting.

Meanwhile Catherine finished the dispeling.

"Good job. Let us continue."

"Just a second."

He turned the ground back to normal and they descended. They took out the goblins's core.

While moving forward they have not found any more goblins. After they took a few turns and headed in the way the miners expected the goblins have came from, they found a hole in the ground at the end of a tunnel. Catherine spent a ball of light down.

"It seems like the tunnel connects to an other one. I'm curious where exactly does this lead to."

Joseph shrugged.

"Maybe it leads to a big underground cavesystem. If it does, we will have a lot of problems."

"Yes."

They jumped down and looked around. The tunnel lead to two different directions. Catherine sit down next to the wall.

"I guess I'll have to use this spell again."

She used her radar spell to find out where the goblins are and then stood up.

"This place is really big, but thankfully the goblins are not that far. The only problem I have is that they might won't be the only problems coming from this place. After we deal with the goblins, we have to tell them about this. They might need to close this mine."

"That is unfortunate, but I hope there will be no problems for now."

"Me too."

They headed the way Catherine found the goblins.

I made a little bit different styled part in this chapter. I think I'll use this in the future, because this spares time and makes it more understandable then writing every conversations down. :3
