1 Graduation (1)

Many thoughts went through her head and just kept running. 'This arena is so much bigger from down here! Almost like a palace, the roof was completely covered in glass panels so thin they look as if they would come crashing down on me'. She looked over to the gray stands that stood taller than a mammoth seeing her mom, grandma, best friends and brothers. Slightly smiling her happiness was obvious as she looked back down. 'To think that i'm last to graduate the youngest in my little group. Valedictorian of my class heading to an ivy league school in a couple months to start my new life. And sadly I still don't know what I want to do.' A frown formed but was easily covered like everything else she thought.

'You know every kid at one point in time wanted to become a doctor or lawyer. But not me. Ironic right? Straight A's, 4.5 GPA, so many sports that it's hard to count them all. I could do anything but you know what I wanted to become? A singer. Even better yet an idol, my mom had fun with that. Sooner than later I gave up on that dream. Always loved the korean culture though. My mom even agreed for me, my best friend, and her to go to Korea for a week. We leave two days after graduation. So you can see why i'm spacing off during this ceremony. I want it to hurry along.'

"Haley?" my teacher yelled angrily.

She looked over to see everyone in the entire arena staring at her with anticipating faces. Her face became redder than a baboons butt. Standing up Haley smiled at her teacher who was giving the meanest glare. Slowly looking down she walked over to the podium.

Wonder how many times he had to call her name. Probably a few too many.

'I looked back up to see my speech on the podium. A tinge of sadness hit me as I look up and started.'

"Its finally over... I know you guys must be very happy..."

The clapping echoed around her as she went up to grab a diploma from the principals hand. Him and her were super close and he's an emotional guy so he started crying.

Laughing a little she walked up to him. He went in for a handshake but she gave him a huge hug instead something completely unlike her. A single glistening tear slid down her clear skin another weird thing. But of course she immediately wiped it away. When she tried to pull back he whispered something into my ears.

"The world is not always on your side be your own person and do amazing."

They pulled away from the hug and took the last picture of the day.

Sitting back down and turning the tassel over she threw her cap in the air as confetti shot out from all sides. The kids all filtered out and the parents did too. But she decided to stand there for a second.

'I stood there being a kid for the last time.

Confetti and hats on the floor. Chairs that my classmates were just sitting in. The tinge of sadness became overwhelming. Looking up I hoped that maybe the glass would fall onto me. Laughing at that thought I looked back down. And walked towards the exit into my new life.'

She hit flopped onto her new bed and hit her head in the process. Already 1am, after her graduation everyone stayed out all day going to the movies, laughing, crying, and forgetting their 'new born responsibilities'. Looking up at the ceiling something felt different to her (not that I could tell you what it is shes just going crazy).

Korea was only a few days away and all she could think about was that and soon it rocked her to sleep.

"So peaceful"
