153 Didn't See That Coming

We hurry down the stairs and through the kitchen. Chase is gripping my hand with steel fingers, but I can feel him. He's shaky on his feet, and hurting a lot more than I realized. As soon as we're moving it's obvious he isn't good. He stumbles at the bottom of the stairs and I have to catch him a little.

"Are you okay?" I ask, pulling him to a stop in the empty kitchen.

"I will be, I'm just getting my legs back," he mutters. I'm nervous about how gray he looks, but he just squeezes my hand.

I sigh. "We can't just run in there and start throwing accusations. And if we're running around the house asking for people, anyone will know there's something going on. We need to go get Jerry, tell him, then talk to Gordon and Mary and see… make sure they're okay."
