64 Chapter 64 — Her Son And Husband Were Waiting For Her
For the last round, it was Pei Yueran's turn. She spun the bottle and the cap came pointing at her again. The bottom of the bottle was facing Zhang Heying.
Instead of spinning again, Zhang Heying suggested that she be the one to ask her a question instead. She promised to go easy on her.
Although sceptical, Pei Yueran still agreed, so Zhang Heying asked, "Truth or dare?"
After thinking for a bit, she eventually chose "Truth".
"Here's the question: Ran'er, if you meet someone who likes you, would you be willing to give that person a chance?"
Pei Yueran nodded firmly. "Yes. If I like the person, I would be willing." She could not deceive her own heart. She tried not to look in Li Chuanmo's direction at all.
Zhang Heying nodded happily, while glancing at her son. She seemed to say, 'I have helped you up to here, the rest is up to you!'
The Li couple happily left her room after Li Chuanmo told them what he originally came to say. They were satisfied with the court ruling, although Zhang Heying felt sorry for her friend.
A vicious child was indeed a punishment inflicted on the parents.
Li Chuanmo stayed behind to tell Pei Yueran about Fu Mengyao and how he knew her.
Pei Yueran frowned. So she almost lost her life due to the jealousy of a "love rival"? She could not put her feelings into words. She felt cold all over.
Li Chuanmo held her hand, sending her warmth. "Don't worry about it. If she dares try anything against you ever again, even if she gets out of jail, I'll make sure she gets back in faster than she can blink. I'm sorry you had to go through all this."
Pei Yueran saw his serious look and decided to tease him. "It's all your fault. Who asked you to be so handsome? You're practically irresistible!"
Li Chuanmo's serious expression melted into smiles. Even after he got back into his own room, he was still smiling. Till he went to bed, one thought kept repeating in his head:
'She thinks I'm handsome and irresistible!'
His insomnia that had been resolving slowly, recurred today due to his childish excitement. He was beginning to understand something deeply.
Maybe he liked her much more than he thought he did.

The door rattled, and Xie Weiwan tensed up.
Chu Ningtian was back.
He was drunk as usual, staggering as he sang in a powerful voice that he probably thought was pleasant. When he saw her, he stopped singing and moved closer, running his hand over her face.
Xie Weiwan almost shuddered, but she forcefully suppressed it. Any slight hint of fear got him excited and made him more ruthless. The wounds he inflicted a few days ago were just fading away, and she had been trying to please him since.
Freedom was so close by that it made the thoughts of more torture unbearable.
She smiled at him and he looked at her for a moment, before shoving her to the side. She stumbled but didn't fall. He went to the room, still singing. He was obviously in a good mood.
So was she. Her plans were coming up smoothly. She looked at Chu Ningtian's receding back with venom.
Her time at the internet cafe yielded a lot of information. She was not exactly a good hacker, but she had picked up some skills and knew how to dig for information online.
The b*st*rd had taken out a life insurance policy plan on her behalf, naming himself as her next of kin, her husband. He had already bought it more than ten months ago.
No wonder he was getting angrier and meaner. It was probably difficult to keep paying the premiums the policy cost.
Since they were not married under the law, she was not his legal spouse, so she was surprised to see that he could actually buy insurance in her name, until she saw a copy of their "marriage certificate". She was shocked.
He must have gotten help, because she didn't think he was smart enough to plan such an elaborate scheme, fake a marriage certificate and even falsify her signature.
She knew he still kept in touch with some friends from their former company. One of such friends was a competent IT expert. He might have enlisted his help.
Knowing him, he would not be so generous to her. He was definitely planning something criminal. She wondered what he did to make the insurance company sell the policy to him.
It was a relatively new company, and that was probably why they were not thorough enough. Just downloading a voice changer app and inventing a lie was enough for her to get the details about the insurance policy he bought from one of the company workers.
It seemed they either had a lot of trust in their customers, or they had a lot of money to burn.
Thinking about Chu Ningtian's actions, he was probably planning to live with her for a while, do something to her and cash out on the insurance payments.
He hadn't done much yet, but she couldn't believe that a person who would treat her so cruelly at the slightest provocation would be so kind as to provide for her in this manner.
Actually, it made more sense. He was obviously not providing for her, but using her. How did he even get to prove insurable interest on her behalf? She didn't even have a stable job, not to talk of being the breadwinner!
Well, since he started this, the game was on. She had never thought of harming him before now, but she swore that she had to have the last laugh, no matter what.
These days, he was going out more frequently, so she had more time alone and the house to herself. He had also relaxed his guard around her. He probably thought she had been broken totally and could make no waves.
He was dead wrong. She had regained her fighting spirit.
She had registered on a website that found online jobs for people —using her identity card which she stole from Chu Ningtian on one of his inebriated nights—, and she had been taking typing and translation jobs online, and was being paid modestly for it. She also used her ID card to open another account.
She knew all hell would break loose if he found out, but she was willing to risk it.
She gritted her teeth. Her goal was clear.
Once she was able to regain her freedom, she was going back to her family. Her son and her husband were waiting for her.
