151 Chapter 151 — Su Qianhua's Accident (2)

"You're here Philip."

At her soft voice, Jiang Philip rushed to her side. "Yes I'm here. Thank you so much for being alive Qianhua, thank you so much." He said. He wanted to hold her hand but the left had just been fixed, and the right had needles in it, so he just kissed her forehead reverently.

Su Qianhua nodded, but then she remembered something, "The baby. How is the baby?"

When Jiang Philip lowered his eyes without responding, she realized something and immediately let out a strangled scream,

"Nooooo."

In the rowdy hospital, her voice wasn't heard at all, but her distress was plain for anyone who cared to see.

"Calm down Qianhua, your health and safety are most important. Please don't get agitated. The doctor said you need more rest." Jiang Philip tried to calm her down.

Su Qianhua didn't say anything, but her tears fell like autumn rain on a cold night. It was silent, yet heartbreaking.

Jiang Philip held on to his tears so desperately that his eyes turned red due to the effort. He had to comfort her, not make her cry the more.

"He must have known that I didn't want him. It's all my fault."

Her voice was oddly devoid of the emotion her expression showed.

"From the first day I heard about him, I looked for ways to get rid of him. I saw him as a burden and a mistake."

Then her voice broke.

"But I'm sorry. I was so foolish before, not wanting you. Please Baobei, don't leave me. Please. I love you, I'm so sorry for everything. Please don't go. Please." She cried out over and over, her voice getting weaker.

Jiang Philip cradled her head and wept brokenly. In his heart, he apologized to the baby but to Su Qianhua he said, "Please don't do this Qianhua. It wasn't your fault at all. Doctor Zhong also said that the first few months are the most dangerous. Perhaps we were not fated with him. Please calm down, don't hurt yourself."

They didn't know the gender of the baby yet, but subconsciously, both of them thought of the child as a "he".

"But it was my fault. You warned me, but I still went on that stakeout. Now look at me. I have lost him. And I have caused you pain yet again." She finished brokenly.

Originally she had planned to listen to Jiang Philip and calmly stay in the office, but her team members begged her. They needed someone to stay in the car and be the lookout while the remaining two went in to apprehend the criminal.

They didn't think she would actually have to do anything, it was just a standard procedure.

Since it was just to be the lookout, she had agreed. She would not be required to do anything anyway.

But things did not go according to plan. The thief escaped through the back door while her teammates were inside. When she saw him, she ran out of the car out of instinct and fought with him, trying to subdue him.

But it wasn't easy, especially since she was trying to also protect her abdomen. She received quite a few hits.

Her main goal was to stall for time so that her teammates could come and get him, but the criminal was very ruthless. Despite the fact that he dislocated her arm though, she still didn't let go.

Her teammates realized after a few seconds that the suspect had fled, so they came out and assisted her, finally arresting him successfully.

But they could not celebrate. Su Qianhua was badly beaten, and although she said she was alright, they tried to rush her to the hospital as quickly as possible.

Then suddenly, she started bleeding. Panicking, her teammates felt it would be better to call an ambulance instead of driving her themselves. So, one of her teammates called the ambulance.

Su Qianhua tried to sit up a bit. Jiang Philip quickly dried his tears before assisting her up. "Qianhua, don't say that ever again. It wasn't your fault at all. You were just doing what you had to do. Please calm down. It's not the end of the world."

"But it's the end of us." She said quietly, shocking him. Apprehension began to build within.

"What do you mean by that?" He asked with a hint of nervousness that Su Qianhua noticed. She let out a low sigh.

"I mean, you're free now. You don't have to be tied down here. Now that our baby is gone, there's no reason for you to suspend your life and stay here."

Jiang Philip did not wait for her to finish, "Stop it Su Qianhua, how can you say such a thing? Freedom is here, with you. Without you, what is freedom? And who says I'm tied down? What are you even saying?"

Su Qianhua was speechless for a while.

She then said weakly, "But I thought —"

"What did you think?" That I would leave you alone just like that? I've told you before Qianhua, I love you. I loved our baby too, but that's because he was a part of you. Please don't say such things anymore.

Su Qianhua felt her eyes prick with tears, but she blinked them away. She felt like she had just understood what he was trying to say, "I don't want gratitude Philip. It's not worth it. Now that our.... the ....now that he is gone, let's just go our separate ways."

"How do you feel now? Can you walk?" Jiang Philip asked an irrelevant question.

"Ah? Yes." She didn't understand why he was asking, but she answered honestly. She still felt a bit weak, but she could.

"That won't do. Please wait for me." She followed him with her eyes in bewilderment as he dashed outside. Then her eyes dimmed. Was he just going to leave her here?

But he wasn't that kind of person, right? Would he come back?

She had to wait quite a while before she got her answer. Jiang Philip reappeared about twenty five minutes later and dashed straight towards to the nurses station, shocking Su Qianhua anew. What was he up to now?

Only one nurse was there, and it was obvious she was very busy. Su Qianhua watched as he pestered the nurse and gestured towards her a few times.

After a slight hesitation, the nurse agreed to whatever he was saying. She followed him to Su Qianhua's side, greeted her and hurriedly said. "Since the doctor said you can be discharged, then you may go. I'll note it down in your file." She then proceeded to remove the drip needle from Su Qianhua's hand, who just stared blankly at her.

Even when Jiang Philip carried her up and took her to the car that was packed just outside the hospital, she just stared uncomprehendingly.

It was after he put her gently into the car and buckled her in that she found her voice, "What's going on? Where are we going?"

"To get married."
