Chapter 142 — Han Leifeng's Counterattack

What was it about her face that usually made him melt, he wondered? The fact that he always imagined how well they would fit in his palms if he cupped his hands around them could be the reason, he thought.

When she began to speak, his attention was drawn to her lips. They had hardly touched each other since that night months ago, but he could still recall the silky soft feel of her lips easily.

The taste that was like a combination of purple grapes and vanilla cream still lingered in his mind. For the umpteenth time, he wondered why she was against marriage. He seriously looked into himself for a few seconds.

He was not too old, he had a stable job, he was not crazily rich but he was very comfortable, and if he had to say, he was pretty handsome as well.

What was the problem? Or was she not impressed by that night?

If Su Qianhua could hear his thoughts, she would probably be torn between laughter and tears. That was not the point at all!

As she spoke on, Jiang Philip's lips curved. Oh, so that was the reason. He must have really been doing a bad job if she still didn't understand how he felt about her.

He cut in while she was trying to explain her perspective.

"Su Qianhua, I love you." It was a quiet admission with no exaggerations, but the sincerity she saw in his blue globes made her speechless.

"Bu-but—" After half a day, she still could not form a coherent word.

Jiang Philip continued, warming up to his words, "I really love you Qianhua. I'm not doing this for the baby or whatnot. It's true that the pregnancy gave me a reason to examine my feelings, but I would never force myself into a marriage just to keep the baby.

Su Qianhua finally found words, "But how are you so sure? What if it's just about the baby and not about me? What if you're just projecting your love for the baby on me?

Jiang Philip shook his head at her fantastic imagination. "If I didn't have feelings for you, even if there was a baby, I still would have left, especially since you didn't want it either. I'm old enough to know how I feel and what I want Qianhua. It's you I'm into."

Su Qianhua lapsed into another long silence. That he liked her wasn't very surprising. He had shown her in several ways over time. She didn't think a man would willingly get beaten for a woman he didn't like.

But love? Now that was a massive leap. She didn't think love happened just like that.

But more importantly, she wasn't sure of her feelings. She liked him, she would readily admit that. He was hard not to like.

That she cared for him, yes she did. While she was unaware, he had somehow wormed his way into her heart. She cared about his mood, what made his eyes light up or dim down, his hand gestures when he was telling her something exciting. She cared about everything.

But love was a strong word, and she didn't think she was there yet.

Jiang Philip watched as her eyes widened, then contracted as she became thoughtful. After a while, she said, "This sounds so new. Give me sometime to-to think about it."

Jiang Philip nodded, "Of course, take all the time you need. In the meantime, please get up."

Su Qianhua automatically stood without question. Jiang Philip took a step and closed the distance between them, bending a bit to embrace her small frame. "Thank you Qianhua. Thank you so much."

Wrapping her arms around him in return, Su Qianhua smiled. She knew he was very happy she had decided to keep the baby, and her heart surged with joy as well. "Thank you too."

"What is the meaning of this Director Han?" Liu Ande said, barging into his office in a rage.

Han Leifeng was wearing his perpetual indifferent expression as he looked up and waved his secretary away. The secretary, who was wary of this calm looking new boss, quickly backed away and went back to his seat.

"Take a seat, Manager Liu." Han Leifeng invited calmly, but Liu Ande was to angry to care.

"Who are you to tell me what to do? Listen, do you know who I am? What makes you think you can fire me as you please?"

Han Leifeng began to speak as if he was talking about the weather. "Liu Ande. 55 years old. Younger cousin to Liu Zhizhen, wife of the first son of the Han family. Started working at the company twenty five ago. Became a manager ten years ago.

"Has siphoned company funds in small amounts over the last ten years, collected bribes to award contracts to undeserving companies, let down the company in all respects. Should I continue?" He asked in a disinterested voice.

By now, Liu Ande was already trembling. "It's not like that Director Han. Those are all lies against me. I would never do that."

"Please Manager Liu, save the drama for those it would work on. Or should I pass this information on to the Chairman? Just think, how many years of jail will that be?"

Seeing that he was unmoved, Liu Ande started shouting again, "This is unfair! How can you just destroy the order of things immediately you arrive? Do you think you actually deserve to sit in that seat? It belongs to my cousin's son!"

Han Leifeng was tired of talking nonsense with him. "If you can get him to come back, then I'll gladly return his seat to him."

What nonsense. How could a deceased person still hold on to the position of a Director? Not everyone had the chance to come back to life like he did.

Suddenly feeling a headache, he said, "This conversation is over, leave my office." He pressed a button to summon his secretary, who came in to escort Liu Ande away.

His screams of "My cousin sister will not let this go, this is not the last of this matter, and I will be back!" reverberated through the ultramodern office.

Han Leifeng signed off the document he was working on before Liu Ande barged in. When he finished, he closed his eyes and rested his head back.

This was his first warning. He was trying to tell his father's wife that if she did not stop trying to kill him, he would make sure he destroyed everything she had worked for.

Today it was her cousin. Next time, it would be her brothers. He was not going to be merciful.

I'm seriously not sure what grapes and vanilla cream would taste like))

As I said, it has been a hectic week, and I forgot to publish the chapter. My apologies(っ˘з(˘⌣˘ )
