345 345—I've Been Feeling A Bit Tired

Knowing that the conversation was over, Bai Meixiang said she was going to her room. When her mother asked if her mother-in-law wasn't expecting her back tonight, Bai Meixiang snorted delicately.

"For all she knows, I'm busy cheating on her dead son. Why go back and prove her wrong?"

While her mother looked at her guiltily, Bai Meixiang smiled without humor.

She didn't need anyone feeling pity for her. Her life was in her own hands. She was well equipped to make her own choices and find her own way.

Li Chuanmo had had fun those few days. Infact, he had been having so much fun at some people's expense that Charlie had begun to wonder if he was seriously considering joining their syndicate and taking his rightful place as their Big Boss.

His methods had been swift and ruthless. Han Leifeng usually threatened people with evidence of the dirt he had on them, but Li Chuanmo was more direct. He just hacked into their databases and held up their entire internal organization system, ordering his men to go and inform them of his terms.

If they refused to dance to Han Leifeng's tunes, these company owners would be humiliated and have their company shares drop, but if they refused Li Chuanmo, they would not even have a company anymore.

It was no wonder that they panicked and immediately embarked on rescinding all promises and contracts with the Han Corporation.

It was the most straightforward form of revenge he had carried out so far and although he was pleased with the results, he had taken great care to hide it from Pei Yueran.

He knew she would not be happy.

Fortunately he was ready to stop. The past couple of weeks had seen the Han Corporation reeling from the impact of their combined forces of his contacts and the Gao family, but he was not planning to make them bankrupt. After all, Han Yichen had a right to those properties as well.

Besides, it went back to the main reason: His wife would not like it. She would feel as though it was her fault, that it was because of her Han Leifeng's company was being targeted by her parents and husband.

He could not risk her feeling pity for his rival.

So when Gao Tinghua informed him that the Bai family had called in a long time favour, he agreed to relent as well, on the condition that Han Leifeng never mention anything about taking Han Yichen to the Capital again.

Han Leifeng had agreed swiftly enough when Gao Tinghua asked him.

Li Chuanmo gave a wry smile when he heard it. So much for his "undying" love. It couldn't stand up to money in the end.

Just one minor problem, and he had quickly found another thigh to latch unto.

The Bai family? Li Chuanmo knew a bit about them. They were always out for benefits, stopping at nothing to get what they wanted.

A leech sticking to a bunch of wily tigers, a perfect match!

So Li Chuanmo stopped holding up their business. He had had enough revenge already. Anyway, Han Leifeng still had lots of cleaning up to do. That would be another sight to watch.

Even Gao Lanmei's subsidiary was generously forgiven, although her losses were very considerable. She was even "invited" by the police for "a small chat" once. Her humiliation was going to be gossiped about in the Capital for a while.

It had already been a few weeks, but Li Chuanmo still found it interesting to watch the stocks of the Han family's company scramble to climb back up.

On his part, Li Chuanmo had a series of meetings with foreign investors that wanted to partner with the Li Conglomerate, so the next few months were going to be very busy. He was going to tie up loose ends within the next week so that he could travel the week after.

The only issue he had was his wife. She looked increasingly tired, her mood withdrawn, and although he had assured her severally that there was nothing to worry about, it seemed as though he still had work to do in convincing her.

Thinking about her made Li Chuanmo forget about what he was typing on his tablet. The list of tasks he was writing for Gong Anwei to handle lay on the table, unable to catch his attention. He was consumed by his thoughts of Pei Yueran.

Then as if he conjured her out of thin air, she walked into the room.

He watched her with interest as she came in. It hit him in the gut afresh as he took in the slenderness of her body, the firmness in the way she carried herself. Even in her oversized shirt and pants, she managed to look elegant.

He loved this woman, from the crown of her luscious brown hair to the tips of her finely manicured toenails.

His heart swelled with love, and an entirely different part of him swelled with desire. It was a good time as any to distract her from whatever had been making her feel so tired.

When he drew her close to kiss her lips, Pei Yueran evaded slightly, "Not now, I don't feel so well."

That caught Li Chuanmo's attention immediately. "What's wrong Honey, what happened?"

"Nothing, I've just been feeling a bit tired. I guess I need a nap."

Pei Yueran couldn't explain why she felt so devoid of energy lately. It was as though she could sleep for ten hours straight everyday. She finally decided to come back to the room when her eyes closed for the third time as she sat reading a report Min Shiyi sent the day before.

Seeing Li Chuanmo in the room made her think maybe she had been overworking herself. Even the boss was in the bedroom, why was she, this employee, almost falling asleep at her desk?

"Okay, lie down and get some rest. Sorry Honey," Li Chuanmo spoke, patting the spacious bed. It made him feel bad that he didn't realize how tired she really was.

Now that he looked closely, her eyes were... alright, they just looked more beautiful than usual, like they were glittering. No evidence there at all.

She nodded and climbed in. When she saw him preparing to lie down as well, she was baffled, "Are you tired too?"

"I just want to accompany you," he said with overly sincere-looking eyes.

Then looking at her scepticism, he added, "Don't worry I promise I won't do much."

Pei Yueran looked relieved, but then her eyes narrowed again, "How much is "not much?""

Li Chuanmo looked sly as he dodged the question, "Just lie down and sleep."

Too tired to argue, she laid down next to him and began to doze off almost immediately.

Until she felt a slender, masculine hand sneak into her clothes.

She should have known that things would not be so simple.

"Chuan not now, I'm seriously feeling — ah!"
