317 317— See? You Even Call Him Lei

Qiao Mingran came back with the porridge she bought soon after and offered to feed her, but Li Chuanmo collected the bowl smoothly and told the mothers to go and speak with the doctor about the discharge procedures.

Once the two of them were alone again, Pei Yueran sighed.

"It's difficult being around both of them at the same time, isn't it?"

"Yeah. It's all just so awkward. Thankfully we're going back home today. I can't wait."

Li Chuanmo nodded. He couldn't wait as well, but for a different reason. The earlier they left, the faster they would be rid of the nuisance they had just encountered.

He fed her a spoonful of the chicken porridge after blowing on it, "Eat. Once the doctor certifies that you can be discharged, we'll be out of here and on the next flight home."

Pei Yueran ate what he offered before speaking, "Actually, I want to meet him first, before we leave."

Li Chuanmo's face instantly turned cold. She still wanted to see him? It felt like the room temperature had suddenly gone down a few degrees. If Gong Anwei and co were there, they would have been crying in their hearts.

But who was Pei Yueran? She couldn't be scared by his cold face at all.

As if she didn't notice, she continued, "Should I ask Gao Tinghua to give me his number?"

Li Chuanmo didn't respond, but his face sank further.

"What's the matter? You don't want me to talk to him at all?" Pei Yueran asked as if she didn't know. Who was he trying to frighten?

Since his displeased expression wasn't working on her, he changed his tactics to something that always worked. "Must you talk to him?" He asked in a subdued, pitiful tone.

"Shouldn't I?" Pei Yueran queried. She would have been amused at his reaction if not for the gravity of the current issue.

"But what if you.... feel stressed again?" Li Chuanmo said, his expression like that of an innocent puppy. What was actually in his mind was, 'what if that jerk sweet-tongues you into leaving me?'

As expected, Pei Yueran softened, "Chuan, it's only talking. It's not like he can hurt me. I won't even allow him dictate my emotions anymore."

Li Chuanmo blinked hazel eyes at her, "But what if? Who knows what can happen?"

Again, inwardly he was thinking, 'what if that idiot spins a sob story and makes you feel sorry for him?'

Unbidden, the image of Han Lei crying softly and Pei Yueran comforting him with a hug came to his mind. Li Chuanmo almost grinded his teeth, but remembered in time that Pei Yueran was looking at him, so he tried to maintain his pitiful expression.

"Honey, I just think it will be dangerous. What if—"

"Don't think I can't see what you're trying to do Chairman Li. Pretending to be pitiful, who are you trying to fool?" Exasperated at his unwillingness to listen to reason, Pei Yueran said in her best "office" tone.

He knew he had been caught.

Li Chuanmo sighed, "Fine. I'm more angry than worried, but seriously once I think of both of you together, talking about old times, I get really scared." And angry, but then she knew that already.

Pei Yueran put on a smile of amusement. His "tantrum" was funny. Why would she be talking about old times with Han Lei?

Pei Yueran's voice sounded especially tender as she cupped his cheek, "Chuan, nothing will happen. You're the only one for me, I mean it."

Li Chuanmo rubbed his head against her palm, really getting into his innocent puppy act, "I know. I believe you."

He just didn't trust that wife-snatcher.

"You're my present and future. Lei is my past. I'll never put myself at the mercy of my past."

Li Chuanmo nodded with a bitter face, "See? you even call him 'Lei'. How can I rest assured?"

Pei Yueran was surprised, "I do?"

"Yes, and in such a sweet voice too."

Pei Yueran mused, "I didn't realize. It's just a force of habit."

"Habit is a very scary thing. That's why you should not meet him." Li Chuanmo was still trying to earnestly persuade.

"Chairman Li, are we still talking about this?So are you saying you don't trust me?" Pei Yueran asked with a frown. If he dared to say nonsense again, she would be really angry.

Li Chuanmo was soundly defeated by her one sentence, "Of course not. Fine, when do you want to go? I'll drive you."

"As soon as I call to inform Lei —Han Lei and he agrees to meet me. Can you get his number?"

"You're going to call him personally?" Li Chuanmo's voice was tending towards pitiful again, and Pei Yueran was about to pinch him in exasperation. "Should I communicate telepathically with him instead?"

Li Chuanmo: "...."

"I'll tell Gao Tinghua to inform him."

Pei Yueran didn't care anymore, nodding tiredly. As long as she talked to him, she didn't care how he got the message. She was more interested in figuring how her husband's mind worked.

Just then, the door to the ward was knocked lightly, and Han Leifeng came in with a big bouquet of roses. He coughed when two pairs of eyes turned to him, "I heard you saying you wanted to meet me, so I came in."

Li Chuanmo looked at Pei Yueran with a look of betrayal, as if he believed that she really communicated with him using telepathy.

Pei Yueran rolled her eyes at him.

Han Leifeng observed their silent communication and felt like he was being stabbed.

After Gao Tinghua left him behind in the parking lot the night before, he eventually climbed back into his car and prepared to leave, but he couldn't. The thought of how pale she looked as she lay there in the emergency department haunted him.

He once felt he could do anything for her, even pluck the stars if she wanted. So how did he get to the point where he hurt her so badly?

He spent the night in the parking lot, reminiscing about the past and thinking about what to do going forward.

It wasn't until he saw Qiao Mingran's car arrive in the parking lot that he made up his mind.

No matter what, he had to talk to her first and make her understand. She had to know that he did all he did because he loved her and their son very much. He wanted to keep them safe.

So he went to a flower shop and ordered a bouquet of a hundred roses before going back to the hospital.
