217 — I'm Still Waiting To Organize That Full-Moon Banquet For My Grandchild

The last meeting of the year was originally supposed to be on the fifteenth, but Li Chuanmo was unable to attend due to Pei Yueran's incident, so it was postponed.

The new date was during their honeymoon, and Pei Yueran was ashamed to recall that she was too tired from the night before, so Li Chuanmo just let her sleep and attended the online meeting alone.

She didn't know that they had spoken about canceling the meeting.

Li Qianye nodded. He didn't attend the meeting but he knew what was going on at the company. Li Chuanmo had really stunned everyone with his momentum and innovative strategies.

More convincing was the manner in which he took out the most annoying opponent, Fen Wucai — and that without a fight. It made people sit up and every other dissenters tuck their tails in between their legs and stay quiet.

Feeling satisfied, he gently leaned back on his chair as he asked, "So what are your plans now? Is my daughter-in-law going to get a new job description?"

"Rather than a new position, I was thinking of making her current position a permanent one. It seems this chairman will always need someone to show him the ropes, even in the future." Li Chuanmo said with a straight face.

Pei Yueran was just listening, as if they weren't talking about her. Li Qianye turned to her at this time, "What do you think Ran'er?"

She almost felt overwhelmed by the favor. Was it really up to her to decide? "Shouldn't the Board of Directors discuss this first?" She asked.

Father and son waved their right hands in an identically dismissive manner and spoke consecutively,

"I call the shots."

"Chuanmo here calls the shots"

Pei Yueran: "..."

Li Qianye continued to ask teasingly, "Or do you want to be transferred back to AiChen Mobile? Your president has been on my neck recently."

Truly President Qi had been making more calls to him, hinting that the one year probationary period was almost over. Just three days ago, he even asked plainly if and when they should be expecting their star director back.

In response, Li Qianye sent him their wedding invitation. The silence after that made Li Qianye feel like he was behaving too wickedly.

Li Chuanmo suddenly drew Pei Yueran closer and held her hand, "No way!"

Pei Yueran raised an eyebrow. She originally wanted to say "No," but now she replied, "Okay, I'll think about it Dad."

The abandoned puppy eyes that Li Chuanmo made at her was so quick a change that she laughed.

Li Qianye watched as their gazes lingered on each other for a few moments before clearing his throat.

"Alright, Alright, it's enough. Both of you can go home to continue. I'm the only one allowed to feed people dog food, not the other way round!"

Pei Yueran was speechless.

"Then we will be leaving now." Li Chuanmo said decisively as he got up, one hand on his wife's waist. Pei Yueran almost squirmed from the embarrassment.

"You mean you're going home tonight? Why not make yourself at home here and leave tomorrow? I'm sure you're tired from the trip." Li Qianye wasn't serious about them going home, so he was surprised.

"Yes, but my wife and I need some alone time. We will come and get the boys tomorrow. Or in two days. Or soon."

Li Qianye's mouth twitched at his son's shamelessness. It was the first time he had acted like this, and it was an eye opener. "Didn't I just tell you not to feed me dog food? Out!"

"Rest well Father." Li Chuanmo said, while Pei Yueran bowed before exiting the study.

"Your father is hilarious." Pei Yueran said into the subsequent silence.

"He's your dad too."

"Oh yeah, that's true. I guess I'm not used to it yet."

When the Li family heard that they were not going to stay the night, there was a chorus of disappointing sighs. But then Director Zhou whispered something to Zhang Heying, which cheered her up almost instantly.

She even took the initiative to urge them out, "Okay, go quickly. Text us when you get home. Or forget it if you'll be too busy by then."

Pei Yueran was surprised by the change in tune, but Li Chuanmo accepted it calmly, said goodbye to everyone and pulled his wife out. The family escorted them to the car.

As she hugged them once again, Zhang Heying whispered, "I'm eagerly awaiting the good news. Work hard my darling daughter-in-law, I'm still waiting to organize that full moon banquet for my grandchild."

It then dawned on Pei Yueran what the enthusiasm was about. She blushed. She hadn't brought it up before, but she imagined that having a child might be complicated because of her age.

Then Zhang Heying added, "Oh, but no pressure. Just keep going at it no matter how many times it takes, and make sure you enjoy yourself while at it. All work and no play makes it boring after all."

Pei Yueran's calm facade collapsed as her blush became even more obvious.

She wanted to quickly escape and hide her face.

Zhang Heying took one look at her and held back a laugh, "Did I embarrass you? I'm sorry, this old woman was just too anxious. If only I was a few years younger, I would have asked you to give me the juicy details of your honeymoon, aiii..."

The way Pei Yueran's eyes widened almost to the size of saucers made the laughter Zhang Heying was trying to hold back spill out. It rang gaily in the night, causing other family members to look at them.

"Oh Ran'er, you're such a delight. Do come to visit me often, okay? Let's have fun and go on dates together."

Pei Yueran's obedient "yes Mum" despite her fiercely blushing face tickled her again. She was about to say something else when Li Chuanmo came to collect his wife.

"Mother, leave my wife alone. She's about to get a heatstroke on her face with how hot and red it is," he said, kissing her cheeks.

Pei Yueran glared at him. They were still in the full view of others!

She then walked away to hug Director Zhou and the boys good bye. Director Zhou patted her hands and told her to rest well.

Han Yichen had a straight face on. Anyway, they would be back to pick them up tomorrow. Only Li Yuchen was throwing a tantrum. "My Goddess, I want to go home with you!" He complained with a pout.

They had to go back to school in two days. He wanted to spend the remaining time with her.

But Li Chuanmo shut him down with a look. "Go and hug your computer to sleep and leave my wife alone."

Li Yuchen: "..."

Why does his father have to talk like he had just eaten dynamite?

Amidst a chorus of goodbyes, the car pulled out of the Li family villa and drove into the night.
