Part 8

After a long flight and naps for everyone, we finally landed in Kobe, Japan. We had hired three translators for the trip as well as a chauffeur service. We were greeted by the service at the private airstrip, with one of the translators. A Japanese woman, named Akari. She was very beautiful and Shaqueal took a liking to her immediately. It would be an interesting trip.

We were going to be staying in Arima Grand Hotel while we were preparing for the opening of Kobe Hunt Hotel. We had one of the best suites in the hotel and the graduates had a suite a level below us. They could not stop staring at everything, they were assigned their translator in case they wanted to explore and Blair and I had one translator each. Akari went shopping with Blair shortly after we settled in and I stayed with Ezume.

I was going over some documents and making sure that everything would run smoothly for the week when I got a call.

"Miss Hunter, there is a water leak in the hotel."

"Which hotel?" I asked

"Kobe hotel sir, we have traced the leak but we need the approval to fix it."

"I don't understand why you are troubling me with this, fix it immediately, we are opening that hotel in two days I want it in pristine condition ASAP!"

I was not happy, where was the manager of the hotel, there were at least three levels of management that they had to go through before this problem reached me, the organogram was failing them for some reason. This needs to be addressed now. I called my assistant who was unable to join us today because of a family situation he needed to sort out but would be flying in tomorrow. I wanted to know who was in charge of the hotel and whether or not I would need to fire someone to make sure that this problem doesn't persist. I don't particularly enjoy relieving someone of their duties but when it comes to certain situations there needs to be a change, I don't like slackers.

When Blair came back from her shopping she found me sitting in the hotel room frustrated because it turns out they have been using inferior materials while building the hotel and will have to replace the entire floor's piping system. They will be done in time for the opening but it was putting me out of budget because they would have to work around the clock to make sure it is done in time. I was not pleased with the management of this hotel, someone was going to be fired.

I opened an investigation into what happened with the building of this hotel and why were inferior materials used when I specifically allocated the budget for this hotel to ensure that such things don't happen. I had trusted the wrong people and now I was paying for it. It was a lesson learned, a bitter one.

I called the graduates into a boardroom in the Amira to explain to them the situation and to show them how to deal with problems. They would be in charge of dealing with the people in charge of the hotel so that they can learn a hard lesson. Shaqueal looked queasy when I told them they may have to fire some people depending on the results of the investigation. Adrianna was equally shocked but she looked ready for the challenge. I was starting to see a true leader in her, Shaqueal was good when given work but was not able to seek out opportunities himself like Adrianna. Only time would tell whether or not he will improve his outlook or not.

The night ended on a low note but the next day will be different, I hope.

Tuesday in Kobe, Japan.

Breakfast was had together as a team, we didn't talk work just spent some time together getting to know each other a little more. I learned that Shaqueal was an only child whereas Adrianna was the first of 5. The translators were sat with us as well just for everyone to get comfortable with each other for this trip.

After breakfast, we went to the hotel to see the progress of the pipeline restructuring. We also saw the rest of the hotel. The entrance was beautiful, with arched ceilings, chandeliers, the furniture has already been installed as well in preparation for the opening. There were workers all over the building preparing for tomorrow, staff cleaning the floors and windows, making sure that the technical side of things was situated, I was pleased to see that even with the work on the second floor, the building was crawling with excited staff members and the final touches were being ironed out. there were even flower arrangements in various places throughout the building, the swimming pool was sparkling. it was the beginning of a new era for Hunter Hotels.

We spent most of the day at the hotel only leaving for lunch and heading back to give a speech to the staff.
