Chapter 4

The whole day Kayla was in a dull mood and the fact that she kept on staring at the popular girl of her class didn't help either. Kayla was just in the middle of the class when she started having a panic attack so before it could get any worse she rushed out of the classroom and locked herself in the toilet. Kayla was crying and breathing heavily and soon those feelings were replaced by nausea. Kayla wanted to puke but she couldn't as she hadn't ate anything for the last 2 days. Kayla was in the mid of it when someone knocked crazily on the door. "K! Open the door!" Cosmos said in an urgent tone. She didn't reply which made them even more worried so Parker proposed an idea. "Mos step out of the way. I'm going to break down the door." Parker was about to break the door when Kayla finally opened the door and showed up infront of them with sweat dripping down her face.

All of them had gathered in the basketball stadium where they sat down on the the benches and talked. "K? Cosmos asked while carefully choosing his next words. "What happened back there? You can respond if you're comfortable." Kayla just sighed as a response which was enough for them to understand that she wasn't ready to bring the topic out. Parker stared at her face for a long time and then he suddenly hugged her tightly. "It's okay K. We're here for you if you ever want to talk so for now you can just cry it out. Don't worry about making a mess." Kayla was stunned for a while but she didn't cry, she couldn't because all her life she had taken responsibility for her tears. She made sure that no one was there to witness her tears of sadness because she didn't wanted to make others feel that they couldn't rely on her. She hid behind a facade of strong woman to hide her hurt inner child.

After sometime all of them left for the class but Kayla didn't wanted to face the class after the scene she had just created. Kayla didn't know what she was doing but as soon as she entered the class she quickly sat down while put on her hood. Nobody came to ask her anything which made her disappointed in herself even more. "Am I just not worth their time? Is the problem really me?" Kayla laid down on her table and pretended that she was asleep while she silently let her tears flow. She was really upset but she couldn't do anything about it which made her even more upset.

After school, she again took notice that her bag was missing so she just walked up to the gate where Cosmos and Parker were already waiting for her. They were seriously talking about something but as soon they saw Kayla approaching them they quickly changed their solemn expression to a happy one. Kayla took notice of their behavior but she didn't say anything as she didn't wanted to talk at all. "Can you give me my bag?" Kayla asked with a hoarse voice. "Don't worry. I'll carry it for you." Cosmos said in a comforting tone. "It's okay and I also want to walk home alone today so." "It's okay. It's not like it is the first time or something." "I just need a little space." "After a day like this, the one thing you don't need is space. Now c'mon. Let's go." "Please I want to be by myself." "Don't argue. We're going together and that's the end of this argument." "Just give me the damn bag Cosmos! Why do you have to make it so hard! Can't you just mind your business?! Both of you are annoying as hell." Kayla stopped as soon as realization hit her and by that time both Cosmos and Parker had a hurtful look on their faces.

Kayla just snatched her bag from them and ran off. "Great! You've messed up an another relationship. What the fuck is wrong with you! Can't you just act like those girls for once? No wonder you're a loner. You just chase away people. You're just a pathetic piece of shit." Kayla cursed herself in her mind. She didn't like the way she had treated the two of them. After all they had just wanted to help her. Now, she was sure that they would never talk to her and she didn't blame them because it was her fault to begin with. Kayla reached her home after a long and tiring walk. She headed straight for her room and sank down in her bed. Kayla was woken up after a few hours by someone. Kayla was too exhausted to even open her eyes so she answered them with her eyes still closed. "Yes?" "Hey! Wake up piggy." Cosmos said in a cheerful tone. "Yeah. You better wake up before we drag you out of your bed." Parker joined in. Kayla couldn't face them so she covered her face with a pillow and replied."Why- What are you doing here?" "Because we were worried about you." Parker calmly replied. "But why? I made you look so bad infront of all the students." "We don't mind it cause we've heard way more painful stuffs than that plus Mos is feeling guilty for making you feeling uncomfortable." "Yeah K. I'm really sorry. I didn't know I was being this pushy and annoying." Cosmos apologized sincerely. "Why are you doing this?" Kayla began softly. "Why are you doing this to me? You know you you didn't have any fault whatsoever and it was all me. So, why are you apologizing to me when I should be the one doing it." All of them felt silent and just when Kayla thought they had left she felt being sandwiched between the two of them. "We are friends so we have to understand each other cause we don't know what the other person is going through." Parker replied in behalf of Cosmos and then both of them hugged her tightly making sure she wasn't crushed but still felt the warmth of their genuine feelings. Kayla didn't take the pillow off her face so she kept on crying but for the first time it wasn't tears of anger and sadness but tears of happiness.
