Chapter 85

Suddenly the music turns slow and the nobles pick a partner to dance with. The guests surrounding them were already dancing while the two were just still standing at their place.

'Oh, it's a slow dance.'

"What the hell are you two doing?" Nash pushed her brother and positioned their hands for dancing, "Lady Rie, I prefer you than those toxic airs."

Lady Rie's face was still flushed, and she just nodded, despite the fact that she didn't understand Nash's remarks.

"Hihihi have fun," Nash said as she approached her best friend Katherine, who was sipping a cocktail and watching the others dance.

"Are you not going to dance?" Katherine asked,

"The party has only just began, I don't want my feet to suffer,"

"Psh. Just tell me you are waiting for someone else," Katherine grinned, "I saw others asking you to dance as you walk towards here, but you just brisk walk to avoid them,"

"That's because I heard first dance are important,"

"So who are you waiting for?"

Nash just stood there silently, watching the guest dance for a few minutes before the music turned back to normal again.

"The Squad Knights are coming in."

"All of them?"

Nash turned to face the door and watched as the squads entered the hall dressed formally.

"Someone is expecting someone..." Katherine smirked and murmured.

Nash awaits for her squad mates. Nash smiled as soon as she spotted both Squad 13 and 14.

'It feels wrong to see them in formal attire.'

"I'll be meeting with my knight mates, I'll come back to you," Katherine walked away.

Ren saw Nash from a distance and waved his hand. Nash waved back. Squad 13 and 14 are walking towards them, Marais hugged Nash as soon as she got close, "Your squad is not here yet, I'm not sure what their problem is."

"Marais, what are you doing? You're being disrespectful," Grin said.

Nash chuckled, "It's fine, we're close."

"Still," Grin said. They stood tall and bowed in front of Nash. Nash bowed back and grinned.

"I'm glad you guys were okay,"

"What do you mean?" Marais said, her brows drawn together, "We're the ones who were relieved that you're fine!"

"She's right," Kris and Bris said in sync.

"I'm glad you're okay," Ren kissed the back of Nash's hands.

"Why won't I be?" Nash said,

"Oh... They're here" Hans said, looking at the entrance where 5 members of Squad 15 enter.

"I can't get used to this formal wear," Kris whispered looking at Squad 15.

"Nash is there!" Idris pointed at Nash. He immediately walked towards her and hugged her, oblivious to the guests that were around them.

"You're ruining her dress," Aeries said as he yanked Idris away from Nash.

Nash looked at Aeries in surprised, "You cut your hair?"

"I did, it started to irritate me. Does it look fine?" Nash nodded and hugged him. "Your dress will be ruined."

"I don't care," she let go of Aeries and looked at Yjhan, "You look good in that, leader."

"It feels suffocating," Nash chuckled, "How are you?"

"I'm well. You look the same,"

"You too,"

"Eh?! I gained some fats! Look!" She showed them her thin arms and they all looked at it.

"Woah... that's some thick bones you got," Idris said and chuckled. Nash glared at Idris and saw Kane looking at her.

"Can't you at least smile?" Nash asked him as she looked at him from top to bottom.

"I can,"

"Then, do it" Nash smiled in front of him, "Like this."

Kane was just still looking at her, 'You didn't change.'

"You're still as dull as ever..." Nash looked around and noticed one person missing, "Where's Jaxael?"

"You haven't heard?" Idris asked,

"What?"

The door suddenly opened and 2 men entered the hall. One older guy and the other one was Jaxael.

"Perfect timing," Idris whispered.

Jaxael immediately recognized his squad members, but he followed the elder man towards the Empire's heads.

"Duke Glyne, it's been awhile," King William said as he greets his old friend.

"Indeed, it is. I want to introduce you, my grandson, Jaxael."

Jaxael bowed.

"Isn't she Nash's friend?" Daniel said, eyeing Jaxael.

"I am, your highness, I'm in the same Squad as she is."

"Right... I remember you," Roven said,

"Really? When?" Ivelisse asked,

"He's the one who kept catching our youngest daughter whenever she falls,"

"Oh." Ivelisse was surprised, "Do you like my daughter?"

'He's charismatic looking. Exactly my daughter's type.'

"Wife," Roven said. Ivelisse just glared at him and looked back at Jaxael.

"I do, your Majesty." Jaxael answered, looking straight to Ivelisse to avoid Roven's gaze.

"oh... I knew it," Ivelisse said cheerfully, but Roven frowned.

"Who wouldn't like such a lovable kid like Nash, right?" Queen Madame said,

"But I like her too," Devin suddenly appeared beside her mother.

They all looked at him. Madame looked at her child and asked, "You do? You just met her?"

"I don't care, I like her."

Ivelisse giggled, "Our child has a lot of admirers,"

"Jaxael!" Nash called from a distance, she excused herself from her squad and fetched Jaxael, "We're waiting, come on!"

"Nash, come here for a while," Ivelisse called,

Nash curiously comes close and stands beside Jaxael, "Eh? What's wrong?"

Jaxael shrugged.

"Did you know that your friend here is a grandson of a duke from a foreign country?" Ivelisse asked, Nash nodded, making Jaxael a bit surprised. "How?"

"I was looking over the guests list to ensure that my friends will come and then I saw Jaxael's name as well as his grandfather's. His name is quite unique here in Marquea so... that's how it is,"

"What a clever girl," Madame praised Nash once again, making Nash happy.

"hehe" Nash blushed.

"What do you think of him?" Ivelisse asked,

"Wife," Roven called, but Ivelisse brushed him off.

"I already told him I like him before," Nash said innocently as if it wasn't a big deal.

Ivelisse looked surprised, "You did?"

"Yes, I'm a straight forward person, so I told Jaxael that I may like him. Why do you ask? Am I being married off by someone else?"

"What?" Roven said,

"No, I was just asking. You two go now, have fun!"

"What 'have fun'?" Roven asked, but everyone ignored him.

'How could they ignore me, the emperor?'

Nash holds onto Jaxael's wrist, "Let's go! They're waiting!"
