Chapter 69

"Your Majesty, the Empress wishes to inform you that all of the creatures who invaded the fortress have been exterminated."

Roven asked as he beheaded the creature charging at him, "And what did she say after?"

"She said that she will go out of the castle,"

Roven frowned and glared at the knight, "You let her out?"

"Her Majesty says she'll hang us with her chains if we restrain her," the knight remarked, lowering his gaze to escape Roven's gaze.

Roven sighed, "Don't let her out of your sight."

"You should use me, you need me, just like before"

It was Raum's other half.

"I can still handle them well," Roven answered.

"Hihihihi. Your daughter is currently engaged in battle with the creatures."

"How long has it been?"

"A few hours ago, I began to sense my other half's presence."

"Tell me if she'll use it completely,"

"Why should I? Hihihihi"

"I'm your owner, that's why."

"Hihihihi"

'Creep.'

Roven walked away from his place and saved Thed from almost getting stabbed by a wendigo's hand.

"Your Majesty!" Thed exclaimed.

"Focus."

"Y... yes! I apologize!"

Roven sighed, "Have you seen Vincenzo and Daniel?"

"I believe they went towards the capital's entrance, your Majesty."

"Why?"

Thed got flustered, "I..I'm not sure, your Majesty."

"Celeste, can you hear me?" Roven said in his mind,

"Yes, father" Celeste was stuck in her room with an amount of guards guarding her, she remained in her room in order to connect her family's minds as well as the minds of the others for easy communication.

"Where have Vincenzo and Daniel gone?"

"They're approaching the capital's entrance fighting two king ogres," Celeste flashes Vincenzo's memories into Roven's mind, causing him to see what Vincenzo sees, "this happened a few minutes ago,"

"I see, how about Nash?"

"I can't connect with her, she's too far, but I'm trying. I'll inform you if I'm able to contact her."

Celeste's telepathic ability isn't at the Absolute level, but only at the Master level where he can connect thoughts with one another as well as control them through their minds.

"Alright,"

Roven looked back at Thed, "Come with me."

As they walk, they come upon a gathering of animals and are murdered by the emperor without Thed even moving.

'The emperor is so cool!'

They looked up at the sky and saw two large wyverns.

"Shit," the emperor cursed. He faced Thed immediately, "Tell the others that the wyvern will breathe fire a few minutes from now, tell them to evacuate."

"How about the creatures, your majesty?"

"They will get roasted after the wyvern. Now tell them!" Thed ran towards the knights and told them what the emperor told him.

"Celeste,"

"Yes, father,"

"Can you connect the minds of others with me?"

"Only a few, maybe 50 of them."

"Connect me."

"Yes, father," after a few seconds of Celeste connecting the minds of the others he told her father, "It's connected."

"Can you hear me?"

"Your Majesty?"

"The emperor?"

"I'm hearing the emperor!"

"Me too!"

"Listen, you see the wyverns from above? In a few minutes, that thing will expel fire. Evacuate and make yourself safe from the time being. The creatures will get roasted by the wyvern's fire so focus on evacuating and keeping yourselves safe. Forward this announcement to the others."

"Yes, your Majesty!"

Celeste let go of the link and would have fainted if it hadn't been for Rose, the head maid.

"Rest yourself first, princess. You've been awake for a whole day, at least rest for two hours," Rose said as she caressed Celeste's back.

"Nanny, I can't sleep with all those screams and screeches."

"But you're fainting,"

Celeste smiled, "I can still keep going, and if I can't take it any longer, I swear I'll rest just like you said."

Rose sighed, "Haa... please take good care of yourself well, your highness."

"Thank you,"

"Brother! There's a kid inside that house!" Daniel pointed to a small house and saw a child on her knees wailing.

"Grrrr!" The orc snarled. The ogres they were fighting were using a large club that kept slamming into the establishments.

"I'll distract them while you assist the child, or else it'll be hit or stomped on!" Daniel said.

Daniel built a few traps to encircle the ogres. A few vines confined the ogre on one step, but immediately teared. The ogres' attention is still on Daniel, and Vincenzo is helping the kid.

"Are you alright?" Vincenzo asked, the kid nodded slowly. "Stay near me, understand?"

"Y..yes.."

Vincezo built a big dark flame and hit the ogre's feet. "Grrrrr!"

Again, the traps made by Daniel got activated and strings of electricity hit the ogre and ended up getting stunned.

Vincenzo looked behind to see the kid, "wait here,"

Vincenzo ran towards the Ogre's head.

"They won't move, they're stuck on the ground," Daniel said with a grin,

"Good, behead the others." Vincenzo said.

They eventually beheaded the ogres. Vincenzo picked up the child and went to the nearest bunker.

"Please take care of her," Vincenzo asked after opening the bunker,

"Leave him to us, your highness," an elderly lady with a good heart said as she carried the kid.

"Thank you," Vincenzo closed the door and saw Daniel conversing with a knight, he stepped in and asked, "What is it?"

"Two Wyverns have already come to the capital. Father said to evacuate before it breathes fire,"

"Alright,"

The wyverns began flying in circles, preparing to breathe fire. The knights have fled.

"Your Majesty, are we not going to evacuate?" Thed asked as he fights the creatures behind Roven.

"That wyvern has to be defeated,"

"Roven!" Roven didn't have to look for who called him due to his familiar voice.

Duke Eiler stayed beside the Emperor along with Thed. Following the duke are a few of his dark knights, one of them is Shiro.

"Why are you still here?" Duke Eiler asked Thed.

"I asked him here, I need someone to watch my back," Roven answered.

"Roooarrr!" Roven looked above and saw the wyvern slowly preparing to breathe.

'This has never happened before...'

"Look at it's adam's apple. So manly," Thed inadvertently blurted out, causing the others to look at him strangely. "Sorry."

"That isn't Adam's apple. That's their fire," Roven answered.

"Ah..."

"You're lucky the Emperor isn't someone who kills over nonsense," Duke Eiler patted Thed's back.

"You, the wyverns are positioning."

"You!?" Duke Eiler exclaimed, "We've known each other since I don't know."

"Roooarr!"

"Here it comes,"

"And he didn't care," Duke Eiler whispered. He looked at his dark knights who were fighting with the tons of creatures, "Step back."

"Rooaaarrr!"

As the wyverns breathe their fire, Roven makes a wall of shadow to avoid the fire from touching them.

Thed's eyes widened, 'woahh!'

Outside, the snarls and growls of the creatures are heard after getting burned.

"This is just the beginning of the true war," Roven grinned as his crimson eyes darkened.
