Hard to Love

"What do you want? Why are you here?" I take off my sunglasses.

He urged me to sit down with him for few minutes

Hernan held me by my right hand, "Come on Ana! Why are you being so mean? I am your boyfriend"

"Is that what you're here for? To say that you're my boyfriend?" I take back my hand.

Disappointed Hernan hits the table, "You know what? I am running so busy with my shooting schedule and yet I am here to see you. How long are you going to be this heartless?"

I am speechless, Hernan never spoke to me in that manner.

I frown, "Hernan, Are you okay?"

I know I could have said so much more but it was all that came out my mouth that moment.

Hernan continued, "I know you are afraid to give me your heart but trust me! I will treasure it for life"

I almost choked my coffee

"Hey! are you alright?" Hernan sounded different. He sounded worried.

"You know! I don't know what you're talking about because we're already dating. You want to make it official or something?" I look him into his deep blue eyes.

Hernan said it slowly and I believe it deep in my heart that he was completely meaning what he was saying.... "It has been quite a long time since we've known eachother. I want you to trust me and take a chance with me because I am madly falling in love with you. Can you atleast try, please?"

"I don't know, Hernan but I will try"

I agreed to let Hernan love me but I am not used to love. From that day he calls me out for dinner and lunch despite both of our busy schedules we try to make time for each other.

"You look beautiful"

"And you look just perfect"

I knew we were both trying enough. We were not teenagers who would just play around anymore.

"I've always wanted to watch the stars with you" he took my hand and grabbed it like he was afraid I might run away.

He continued... "I like you so much. I want to marry you right after this hectic year ends. Will you?"

I stopped looking into his eyes, "You already know Hernan that I cannot do this"

"Why not?'

"I just cannot. You're breaking your own heart! You are the most eligible bachelor, don't waste your time on me" I spoke at my lowest because I thought my voice would breakout if I spoke any louder.

Hernan went down to his knees and took out a ring, "I don't know if you'll learn to love ever but as long as I keep loving you, it'll be enough for both of us to be happy"

I make him stand, "I can't! You will never be happy with me"

"I am not telling you to marry me right now-" He takes my hand and gives me the ring. "I'll give you time to think. Tomorrow, I'll be moving to Chicago for a workshop and location shooting. We have 3 months exactly to think about eachother. You can always give me back the ring if you don't want it to happen"

He kissed on my forehead.
