Unwelcomed Guest

"Swoosh!"

Two figures could be seen moving towards one another and colliding, subsequently moving backward from the impact. One figure was a short man wearing dark orange robes, he stood in a fighting stance facing another man who was a head taller than the previous and wore simple clothes. His stance was quite calm, however, his eyes betrayed his body's behavior as it was seriously staring at the opposite person.

These were Patrick and Lester, who after a month had begun to show some minor progress in their respective cultivation styles. Patrick, whose body's physique could be seen outlining his robes and if someone was to do a further inspection in regards to his changes, his Iris was also golden. His face showing a cocky smile.

Suddenly, Lester made a move as he dashed forward to throw a punch. Unfortunately, his movements were too predictable for Patrick who quickly made the choice to move backward and dodge, however, as he attempted to move his leg, he felt as if he was unable to. Looking down he noticed two light blue translucent tentacles wrapped around his legs, and an awkward expression came to his face as he raised his arms to block the punch. This was his advantage! His cultivation book: As the understanding towards the first volume of his [Black Sand Zu Lizard Cultivation] book grew, his physical capabilities would improve substantially until the first volume is completed, and he had reached the cultivation level of a Beginning Stage Cultivator, in other words, until one-third of his core was filled.

After successfully blocking the punch, he was hardly phased, and it was all thanks to his new constitution. He was delighted by the increase in strength he had achieved in only one month and his gratitude towards Lester was deep. This was an incredible opportunity, he had to take advantage of. Cultivating in this location with Lester was also severe, with the most calmness and natural beauty he had ever seen in person.

"My turn!" Patrick smiled and squatted with the tentacles still around his legs. His golden eyes stared towards Lester as a smirk appeared on his face, his competitive spirit was ignited!

"Woosh!" The sand was kicked up as Patrick suddenly lunged forward with power. The tentacle around his legs dissipated with light blue diffusion, as it couldn't handle Patrick's power.

"EEK!" Lester took a step back as he quickly moved his body sideways to dodge the punch, something in his mind sparked, as his eyes shifted to the side as he noticed a trailing leg coming towards his way. As he was moving his head backward, he was shocked to see the trailing leg being pulled back instead of extended, and as Patrick's body twisted in mid-air his opposite leg extended with tremendous speed hitting Lester on the chest as he was pushed back with force. Light blue cracks began to appear on his chest as it began to slowly spread. A light blue coating appeared all around his body as it looked like a faint aura being emitted by his body. This was the one and only layer Lester was able to complete thus far.

Patrick wasn't the only one who made advancements in this past month, as Lester was able to create the symbols needed for three manipulations.

One that can create tentacles, improve your senses, and lastly, one that creates a world qi protection around your body. As the practitioner improved in cultivation, these layers could be stacked. Lester still hasn't filled one-third of his core and he was much farther back than Patrick. Not only for his lack of talent but for the fact that creating the symbols for these manipulations on his core took a lot of time and effort. He practically barely had time to focus on standard cultivation. But there was a simple reason for this. He would eventually have to create these symbols on his core anyways and possibly more, and if his memory served correct, then these symbols would support in accumulating world qi. Essentially, his cultivation speed would improve if he had more of these symbols. Especially since his talent is low and his cultivation speed slow, this could be a great help. Apart from the 5 manipulations that were mainly used by the previous owner of Lester memories, there were a few others that Lester was interested in, however, these are simply interests and considerations as the reality is, these symbols were much more complex than others.

Lester witnessed his first layer almost shattering in shock. In the last month, him and Patrick would spar a few times and this was the first time Patrick was able to land a strong hit. The strength that Patrick attained thus far was impressive, and it only made Lester feel even more excited! He had to work harder to not fall too far behind!

Both men breathing heavy, looked at one another, "Woah! I honestly didn't expect your protective thing to stay intact! I put a lot of my strength into that, I'm beginning to get the hang of this." Patrick said as he entered a more passive stance.

Lester scratching his head replies, "Yeah, you're very strong now! If we kept on going I don't think I could keep up."

It was true. Patrick was also equipped with some good martial arts, hence his advantage in combat.

After testing out their newfound abilities, they had moved back inside of the house for some rest and tea. Both men sat on a rug sipping tee grown in the backyard as they discussed a few things with one another.

"So what should our next plan be? We have basically stepped into cultivation, we can actually fight now, we have powers!" Patrick seemed quite happy and excited to venture out and test out these powers.

Although Lester was quite happy as well, fighting and training for his life and practicing some techniques were two completely different things and the first made his heart shake slightly.

"We could go to the Cultivation Island," Lester replied seeing the reaction of Lester.

Patrick's eyes shone once more as he knew what Lester spoke of and was extremely excited.

Everyone in this world knew what the cultivation Island was. When the incident first occurred and the spacecraft crashed into earth, one of the richest men on earth just happened to not be too far, taking his yachts he was able to gather certain things from the crash and escape. Because of his richness, no one really bothered, however, this man was more ambitious than anyone had planned.

As a cultivation fanatic, he had a bigger picture in mind. Spending a lot of his fortune, he was able to buy an island and work on it for about a year. No one knew what he was planning to build. In fact, no one expected him to finish construction as there were too many dangers occurring when the island was being expanded on. However, money talks and he was able to complete an interesting place, where Cultivators could gather, join the Cultivation island, gain residency, and protect the earth from these wild monsters that are rampaging through the land.

In the world at the moment, forty of the top one hundred had already decided to sign up with the island, and although not every cultivator chose to claim residency within the island, most of them took missions issued by the island to protect and defend the human race.

There were other perks that Lester seemed to be hoping for like trading, better training, and opportunities, and maybe this could be a mutual benefit for him and the humans. With his vast knowledge, he could possibly trade a few things he didn't need for items discovered from the crash.

In addition, this man happened to have three cultivator bodyguards that follow his every command. To everyone's surprise, this man was able to find something called a "Spiritual Contract" which no one was able to break.

This made Lester feel more at ease because this meant that he wouldn't be cheated as both sides needed to uphold their conditions.

"But we will face a lot of dangers…" Lester also weighed in the dangerous situations he might be placed in.

"Isn't this what we became cultivators for? To get rid of these monsters and protect those dear to us?" Patrick spoke passionately looking at Lester who smiled and nodded back.

"Thud!"

"Swoosh!"

Suddenly as both men were sipping their tee they heard a noise coming from outside and both of their eyes locked.

They quickly moved and peeked out their window and to their surprise, there was an unwelcome guest.

Lester's heart was racing at the moment as he was shaken by these developments, he truly never faced a monster before.

The unwelcomed guest seemed quite familiar. Lester had seen an animal that resembled this beast before, and that animal was a binturong. The only difference is, that this monster was half the size of a human with dark green fur all around its body. The red-eye of the creature scanned the dirt as it sniffed looking for the trail of Lester and Patrick.

Patric stares at it with seriousness stating, "This is our time…"
