Ian and shin were sitting across from each other in the green house room shins eye was still swollen well it had worsened a little bit

"I mean seriously so far I've been taking baby steps but now that I think about it how do you get into the slayer examination?"shin said looking at Ian to see if he had any information

"I'm just as clueless as you but I do know a few things that I've heard before from people in the slums but before that how about we just state the obvious"Ian said while looking shin up and down he had a white ripped up shirt that couldn't be called a shirt anymore and this was his only outfit

His body was absolutely filthy and the same could be said about Ian himself

"We need to at least present ourselves decently"Ian said while shin nodded in agreement

"Now onto the information I have regarding the exam I've heard that before you can go to the actual exam they have a weeding out process picking only the best candidates from each district I don't really know how many but we would be competing with our own district first for a spot in the exam"

"I bet only kids from the upper level will even make it to the exam out of our district slum kids like us don't have a chance"

"Yeah your right but hear me out"Ian said while grabbing something out of his pocket

"Money what if we make enough money to live in the upper level I don't really fully trust you with my life yet but I do consider you to be my partner"Ian said while smiling at the voum in his hands

"So wait your saying that we two slum kids make it in the upper level before the selection process?" Shin said as he gasped wondering if Ian was in his right mind

"Yeah that's exactly what I'm saying I'm sure if we show up as slum kids are chances are gonna get cut in half so what do you think"Ian said while putting both of his hands together as he looked at shin waiting for a response

"I don't know if it's possible but let's do it I can't back down now"shin said with a fierce look

"Exactly what I thought you would say I didn't make you my partner for nothing"Ian said with a smile on my his face

Shin began to think about the amount it would take to buy a place in the slums even getting a motel room in the slums cost around 400 voum a night and being in the upper level that price could easily be over 5 times that

"I know that I'm definitely reaching but if I don't reach at all I won't get anything in life so why just reach for everything" Ian said as he got up

"Hey remember how I said we aren't hunting today"Ian said while jumping off the rooftop and jumping from wall to wall slowly descending down the rooftop

"I hate this part" shin said while trying to copy his movements but on the last jump down he ended up slipping and falling down

"Crash"shin began to wipe away the dust the alleyway was completely clean unlike the ones closer to the lost district

"Yeah I remember but wasn't that cause your eye?" Shin said wondering if there was another reason

"Yeah that's definitely the main reason but I also have one more"

"Let me ask you something do you think I naturally learned how to fight like that?"

"Yeah I thought you were just naturally good and the slums taught you how to be tough the same as me"

"Well your half right half wrong yeah the slums taught me how to be tough but nothing was natural"

"We're going to a place I use to make a little money it's a little underground fighting arena"

"So that's how you fight like that"shin said now understanding why he was more experienced than him and his body was stronger than his

"Yeah when you see so many fighters you start to pick up stuff"Ian said while walking with his hands in his pocket as shin followed

"You know the age rules SCF right?"

"No I didn't know they had one wait am I able to make it to the SCF"shin just realized that he had completely slipped over something so important but then he also thought he must be able to he often saw many young people on tv joining

"you could say there is no age requirement as long as your strong enough they really don't care"

"But they separate examination groups and have a academy for younger candidates"Ian thought this was basic information but seeing shins reaction he realized that he actually knew a lot more than he thought

"Well I don't think they would take a kid whose 5 though haha"

"The age requirement for younger slayers is 18 they will place you into the academy until your ready to be a real slayer or until you go over the age of 18"shin looked at Ian while he said this while completely soaking up every word he said like a sponge this made Ian laugh a bit

"The reason they have this barrier is obviously because of body differences but more importantly because sometimes hunters who are done with being hunters and want a more stable life join the slayers if seasoned hunters went into the examination with kids it would be a slaughter house literally"

"Yeah your right that makes a lot of sense"shin said admiring how much knowledge Ian had on the SCF

"The reason why I'm bringing this up is because the underground fighting club works through SCF rules"

"Wait your not saying I'm going to be fighting are you"shin said as he just realized where this was going

"Of course I am"Ian said with a evil smile

"Why not don't you want to use this opportunity to get stronger you've practically have free practice and you can earn a little money on the side"
