Nemesis 2

...And from the void seven beasts rise

to bring all realms to their demise

They shattered earth and rend skies in twain

whilst ancients rose and fought in vain.

Hunger in the beast erupted

The worlds laid waste, dying and corrupted.

Twelve survived and sought the seer

to stop the end from drawing near.

With a gaze at fate the prophet revealed

they could not be defeated but could be sealed.

The twelve went forth but nine did fall.

On dying breath; they sealed them all.

Like wrathful God, like angel's bane -

Should one know of them

and on vile tongue speak their names;

the seven foes will rise again!

A peal of thunder rumbled faintly in the distance signalling the end of his hunt for the day. Azra looked up at the dark-grey clouds that seemed to mirror his mood.

He was upset. Very upset.

One of the contributing factors to his foul mood was the meagre amount of prey he managed to scrounge together. It also didn't help that he would have to cut short the day's hunting trip on account of the bad weather. But most of all he was upset at himself!

"Why the hell did I provoke that grey-furred fiend of vengeance?!"

Yes, the greatest portion of his worries stemmed from the fact that he had unknowingly provoked the devil incarnate.

The fluffy little demon was exactly as analyze had marked it - petty and vengeful. Every time he lowered his guard a random shot of [mind blast] came his way.

Like when he was hunting- mere moments away from securing his prey before his nervous system went into shock sending him into what can only be described as "a snake version of epilepsy".

Or when he was meditating and finally managed to wrestle the surrounding elemental mana before being agonised both physically and by the fact that he would have to start all over again.

Or perhaps when he was simply returning home it didn't hamper him much (barring the pain) but it was annoying nonetheless.

In all of these instances, he could spot the rascal at a distance away just out of range with an almost human-like sneer on its face.

*Rumble*

The sound of thunder echoed again, closer this time, urging him to hasten his slithering. He could curse the little bugger later right now he needed to avoid the rain. Things wouldn't end well if his temperature dropped too much. He wasn't sure what might happen- maybe he'd enter a state of inactivity like the reptiles from earth (which would put him in a rather awkward position) maybe not but he wasn't willing to take that risk.

Azra slithered into the hollow just before the downpour started. Just moments later the pitter-patter of raindrops cast a momentary lull on the hustle and bustle of the inhabitants of the forest.

The result of the day's hunt dropped from his inventory with a thud. The amount was noticeably fewer than usual; thanks again to his newfound nemesis. Of the four prey, he had managed to catch not a single one was a rabbit- the little bugger was especially belligerent when he tried to catch one. He was a bit thankful to the little menace though, larger creatures seemed to steer clear of it and him by extension.

Azra tossed a corpse back into his inventory- that would be today's meal. The others were for his growth. He closed his eyes in concentration and moments later streams of origin erupted from the bodies before entering his own.

[Name: Azra Hale]

[Species: Slithern-Adolescent (Faint draconic bloodline)]

[Class: Extraordinary]

[Origin: 389/400]

A quick glance at his status screen informed him that he'd soon be due for a growth spurt.

"I'll have to start stocking up food." the little slithern mumbled to himself.

But before long he ran into a problem- the amount of prey he managed to catch as of recent was rather pitiful. This put him in a rather awkward position. He would have to stop absorbing origin until he stocked up enough food. This would significantly delay his growth by at least a few days.

"Arrrrrrg! Why the hell did I provoke that demon in rabbits' hide! an annoyed serpent hissed.
