Experimenting

*Tzztzz tzzzt zzzzt*

Tiny electrical sparks erupted and disappeared sporadically amidst a slow swirling white mist in the centre of which was an azure snake...er...slithern. Azra sluggishly shifted his body. Doing this always exhausted him. As to what he was doing? Absorbing elemental mana, as the system informed him the glowing orbs were called. There was no notable effect for now but he had a feeling that it would be something worthwhile.

It had been three days since he was tossed into this chaotic world. And within these three days, he did his best to give himself a chance at surviving in this crazy place. First, he got familiar with using his skills. He started with Dragon's breath since this seemed by far the most useful for attacking. As he concentrated on the skill he could feel something in his body stirring, origin. It gathered from all parts of his body trickling gradually towards his mouth. He could see it now mighty foes brought to their knees by the power of his godly flames. The earth would be scorched; the waters boiling and his enemies screaming in despair as he turned them to nothing but ashes and dust.

As the origin gathered it became it became warmer and warmer until it was as hot as a flame. Azra could feel the condensed origin reaching a breaking point and opened his maw to release what would surely be a spectacular sight. The air became hazy from the immense heat radiating from him as tiny crimson embers erupted out of his mouth and then...and then nothing...that was it...

Azra:( ゚ヮ゚)

"Celest...why didn't that work?" the little slithern asked confused with tears welling up on the corner of his eyes.

*SFX for ringing*

He was greeted by the familiar sound of a telephone ringing and was surprised for a second. The ringing stopped.

[The system AI you are trying to reach is currently unavailable, please leave a message after the beep.]

*Beeeep*

The voice was Celest's deadpan robotic voice and suited the situation perfectly. For a moment the notion crossed his mind that someone with the system's voice would make a great phone operator. No, wait a minute...

"Don't screw with me!!"

[Tch, so noisy. Can't an AI even get some decent sleep.]

"Oi, you just went tch didn't you!" Azra shouted again.

[Hmmm, whatever are you talking about my dear master I would never be so insolent. To answer your question..]

"You totally did though," Azra grumbled.

[Look do you want the answer to your question or what? I'm a busy AI got things to do people to meet stop wasting my time.]

This was another thing he had to deal with; this annoying system AI. You started it though, also who could you possibly be meeting? what could you possibly be doing? You just said you were asleep, didn't you? Wait, can you even sleep? All these questions were left unasked as he begrudgingly lay the matter to rest.

"Do continue Ma'am." The little snake said with a forced smile (one that looked quite horrifying on his reptilian face).

[Hmph, that's more like it, it's likely because of your 'Aqua Affinity'. It's an ability that gives you a closer connection to the water element so using a fire type ability is like lighting a match underwater. Of course, it is possible to use said abilities just that the effort required will be much higher]

Azra's felt as though he could vomit blood. The only ability he could use to defend himself turned out to be a bust at least for now. After getting over his disappointment and resting for a while he proceeded to experiment the utility of his subspace storage ability. From this venture he observed four things

1. Optimally he could open a single entrance to the 'inventory' as he opted to call it however it was possible to open more than one. When he exerted himself he managed to open a maximum of eight each just large enough to fit a fist.

2. Though it was another space at least one law of physics still applied. He came across this one accidentally when he tossed an elkhorn rabbit with force after it had somehow managed to damage his beautiful scales. When he opened his inventory out came the rabbit at the same speed he tossed it in. When he considered the aforementioned property and this one his eyes shone with a glint of inspiration.

3. The rate at which organic matter decomposed was slower than the outside world by at least a multiple of two. Many elkhorn rabbits were harmed in this undertaking. Surely it could be forgiven after all it was for the greater good. It.Was.For.SCIENCE.

4. Living beings could not be placed inside unless they were coated with his origin. And even then they came out...well not so living. Once again many rabbits were harmed but it was all in the name of SCIENCE so it should be fine...probably.

The next research subject was Analyse. the skill could give him basic information on anything he focused on. He found that the skill worked better if he was in direct contact with the target he wished to analyse. Apart from that, the skill could also analyse intangible items such as the skills and titles of his status page. He came to the conclusion that the skill was only limited by his perception.

As for Babel's tongue, he could not come to a verdict due to lack of a conversational partner. No that was wrong he did have partners. Rabbits, of course, were harmed (this time more mental than physical.) The poor creatures were captured and disabled only to witness a crazed blue snake hissing violently at them with a creepy smile on its lizard-like face. They then promptly fainted and woke up sometime later only to go through the experience again...perhaps they should see a psychiatrist to deal with the PTSD.

Lastly, Dragonic vision he found out was the skill caused him to see those 'colourful spheres' -elemental mana. He had just begun to understand the uses of this particular ability so apart from seeing mana he knew nothing else about it.

*SFX for stomach rumbling*

He snapped back to reality...it was time to hunt.
