Chapter 43 - How To Cope With Your Eating Expenses

*buzz* *pitter* *patter*

It's still the same silent dream.

I can't move my body at all, Can't even blink my eyes.

Under my feet, it's still the colony of ants crawling toward me, and in the air is a hive of bees. However, from visual inspection, the number of insects, although big, Isn't as big as last time. There might be even less than an eighth of the previous 'dream'.

Though it's still scary how I'm keeping calm in such a situation. Not only that, I started observing more clearly the 'phenomenon' happening to me.

After observing for some time, I discovered that the 'insects' are smaller than they look, they are really really small. Moreover, the moment they come in contact with my body, the tingling that I feel is due to them merging with it, acting as a catalyst for evolution?

Once I started observing more, the image of the 'insect' began to fade, replaced by colorful dots, with no definite shapes flying around me like fireflies. only with more colors than I have ever known could possibly exist. Some of the dots' colors had no color If that even makes sense.

It doesn't? Hmm…. like thee have color but, that color is not a visual one. When you see it and other similar dots you can instinctively differentiate between them.

The dots seemed to originate from something transparent in the void surrounding me. That 'something' has no color but it can change its color to other colors and it's the most abundant.

Let me make an educated guess here. According to my years of extensive research on some special scripters, and combining with a touch of imagination, It can only be… spiritual energy? Dark energy? World energy? Whatever you want to call it, It's more likely to be a type of energy anyway.

The one with no color seems to be the original form of this energy and the other colorful ones, again, according to my educated guess would be the energy with certain 'attributes'. Like the four of five elements, space, time, force, light, dark, and many others.

Let's call it spiritual energy for now.

Merging with my body are all kinds of energy attributes, with no preference as it seems. Looks like my 'power' has no certain bias toward any type of energy, especially the area between my eyebrows, it's just devouring everything like a professional mukbang streamer.

And yes, I have already come to the conclusion that what's happening is the awakening of my 'superpower'. Moreover, this awakening isn't going to stop any time soon, and I have to be asleep for it to accelerate the progress. When awake, the progress will slow down allowing me to function normally and replenish my body with food.

The spiritual power is acting as a catalyst for the 'evolution', but the body nutrient and organic matter are being consumed as the fuel for the body to 'evolve'. That's why I became a hungry ghost after Walid had interrupted my sleep, only the hunger didn't register in my mind at first for some time.

The reason I felt so tired before is most likely because of the usage of my superpower before the complete awakening. Probably the work of my subconscious mind, maybe I sensed something subconsciously so the power was used before it's complete, leading to a mental and physical strain on the body.

While I was pondering a certain force seemed to be heading in my direction. The spiritual energy ignores this force for the most part, as if they are in different dimensions, not interacting with each other, bypassing or going through it. Only a small part was moved away upon colliding with it, and some of them resisted that force but to no avail.

Just as the force was about to reach me, my body moved instinctively, my hand stretched to catch the force and grip it tightly.

"A*%^@3 $#%$#ke?"

An indistinguishable voice came to my ears, breaking the silence of this dream. So there is sound now, did the dream get an upgrade?

The group of force gripped in my hand shook back and forth and another sound came.

"Wake up!"

I suddenly realized what was happening and my eyes opened widely.

My Father was standing above me with his hand gripped tightly. He looked at me impatiently, but I could see some worries in his eyes.

"Are you awake yet? Let go of my hand."

He said. Only then did I remember to let go.

I changed my position from laying down to sitting on the couch and looked around in confusion, where did my friends go?

Noticing, me looking around my father said,

"You don't need to look, they are outside."

I looked at him and nodded, then asked.

"When did you get here?"

"I got here 10 minutes ago."

He replied then looked at me with a weird look like I had a tail suddenly growing on me.

I looked at him puzzlingly and asked,

"Why are you looking at me like I'm an alien? Is something wrong?"

He looked at me up and down once again then said,

"The three brats told me that you got 'super power'. Is that true?"

Ahh. It seems my friend already told him about the situation. That would spare me from having to explain everything from the beginning. As for hiding my 'super power' from my father, I won't do it. Do you think of me as some MC with trust issues? If even my friend knew, why wouldn't I tell my parents?

They are not the type to let the cat out of the bag. And they won't harm their son's interests.

I nodded at him with a grin and said.

"Yes. Although I can't control it yet. I did indeed 'awaken a superpower."

Don't know why, I seem to see a hint of curiosity in his eyes. But it might be my imagination.

"What is your superpower anyway? When I asked how did you know about the fuel and the gangsters, the three brats told me you had a superpower then as if they regretted it, didn't tell me what power you got, they were acting like I'm an agent coming to kidnap a mutant."

He said with a bit of amusement in his tone. I'm sure Walid was the one that let the cat out. It doesn't matter anyway.

"I got something similar to appraisal skill in games, how do I explain it… hmm."

I started to think about how to explain the skill to my father. But he looked at me like an idiot. Whatsup with that look?

"Do you think I don't know what an appraisal skill is? The RPG genre was quite popular when I was young. I and your uncles played our share of such games at that time."

I looked at him in surprise! The old man didn't seem the type to play such games.

Then I shrugged my shoulders, that is even better, I don't need to waste time.

"It's Basically an appraisal skill. However, as I said before, I can't control it yet, maybe because the 'awakening' hasn't finished yet."

That reminded me! I hurriedly took a can of coke from the table and started drinking like mad. When I finished it, I opened a sugar-filled snack beside another bottle of coke and devoured them again.

The scene almost scared my Father. He looked at me in wonder, then locked his eyebrows, thinking of something.

When I felt about 90% full, I slowed down my eating and asked,

"Father, what are you thinking about ?"

He looked back at me with a serious look and said,

"You have to find a job to cope with your eating expenses."

*pfft* *cough* *cough*

His answer caused me to choke on the food in my mouth. Is that a matter of concern right now?
