Chapter 31 - Totally Not Suspicious

After Sam went away, Laheeb invited us to sit back. We started talking about The time we used to play together when we were kids, then we got to know each other better and what we have been up to lately.

Like I said before, the dude has a similar personality to Walid, he is the type that can make friends easily.

It only took about 20 minutes of talking back and forth to get to know each other well enough to exchange phone numbers and social media accounts.

While they were talking, I was secretly knocking out pills, a pill every five minutes while trying not to let Laheeb notice.

Why do I feel like I'm doing something wrong? It's not like I'm taking recreational drugs!

*knock* *knock* *click* *swish*

Two knocks came From the door. However, the one knocking didn't wait for a response, he directly opened the door.

"Cousin, the fuel truck is ready to go."

Laheeb's cousin Sam's sleazy voice came with him through the door. Looking at him, he was sweating quite a bit, it seems he has been in the sun since he left.

"Ahh! Thanks Sam."

Laheeb stood up instantly and thanked his cousin, then he turned toward us and said,

"Let's go, we have delayed your business for quite a bit of time. Everything should be ready right now."

He's right about this one, we wasted a lot of time today.

"Okay!"

Walid was the first to stand up, energetic as always. Then Laheeb took the lead as we followed him outside the room, accompanied by the sound of laughter as we joked around.

I stayed at the back of the group and was the last one in the room, wanting to take another pill without anyone knowing. However, I noticed that I wasn't the only one in the room. Sam was still inside the room looking at the departing backs from behind, and it seems he doesn't intend to follow along.

"Aren't you coming with us?"

Does not really my business if he did or didn't follow so I just asked out of politeness.

He appeared to be startled upon hearing my voice, stepping back half a step. Then he realized who I was and replied while trying to hide his fluster.

"Ahh! No... I have other things to do!"

Without waiting for my reply he started walking away, with quick steps, as if running away from me. Maybe he was embarrassed by his reaction.

I felt something wrong with Sam as he disappeared down the hallway. Couldn't point out what was wrong after thinking for some time, so I just threw it to the back of my mind. We are not acquainted enough for me to care about him.

Taking two pills hurriedly, I then followed along the path my friends have taken, ready to catch up with them.

Outside of the room, I was hit by the heatwave making me feel uncomfortable by the transition of hot and cold.

Walid and the gang were already under the shaded area where they keep the fuel tanks. I first stopped by the car and made another protein shake and saved some pills in my pocket, to make sure I had enough stock available all the time.

Getting out of the car, I go after my friends.

The station where fuel tanks are refueled is similar to a normal petrol station, only the scale of everything is bigger.

Walid and the others were standing beside A blue and white fuel truck, with the hoe from the station still connected to the tank of the truck. It looks like the truck hasn't finished refueling.

'That's weird, didn't Sam say that everything is ready?'

I thought to myself, feeling a little confused.

"Yo! It isn't ready yet?"

Coming beside my friends I asked.

"Not yet, and where did you go just now?"

Salem replied then asked back, while the rest looked at me, also wondering why I was late.

"I grabbed something from the car!"

I answered while giving them a meaningful look. They understood and didn't say anything, while Laheeb seeing no one ask, wouldn't jump in and ask about matters that don't concern him.

However, after chatting for another 5 minutes, he turned toward his worker and shouted somewhat angrily at the workers filling the tanks.

"Why haven't you guys finished already?"

Laheeb I wasn't laughing and talking anymore, maybe because he was embarrassed, having us wait in the heat when we should be on our way right now.

*shiiik* *click* *pah*

As if answering Laheeb's angry shout, the pump station suddenly stopped.

"Boss! The tank is full. The truck will be ready to go in a minute!"

One of the workers standing on an elevated platform replied as he disconnected the fuel pump.

Although still angry, Laheeb didn't yell at the workers anymore. He turned toward us and said,

"I am really sorry! I don't know how Sam could make such a mistake."

He appeared to be very apologetic about it.

"Honestly, You don't have to worry too much, maybe he made a mistake or one of the workers did."

I said while waving my hand at him carelessly, without really caring, this is just a simple mistake. Laheeb could be considered a friend, and I didn't want to embarrass him. However, that fellow Sam seems to have something wrong with him.

"Boss! The fuel truck is ready to go!"

Yelled the worker in blue drape that was standing on the high platform as he stepped down and came to us.

Laheeb gave him a nod, then told us while pointing at the worker.

"He will be the one to drive the truck for you."

Drive the truck? Eh? No way, we don't want anybody knowing about where we're gonna take it.

I nudged Walid's hand and he suddenly remembered.

"Ah! He doesn't have to! I will be the one driving."

Walid said while waving his hand.

Laheeb hesitated when he heard that Walid was going to drive instead of their worker.

"That.. that won't work.. we don't usually allow other people to drive our trucks."

He replied while scratching the back of his head, apparently embarrassed having to reject us after the previous mistake.

"Hahaha! Don't worry, I already told your dad, we will do the monthly check for this truck free of charge!"

With a laugh, Walid reassured while patting Laheeb on his shoulder repeatedly.

Hearing his father has already agreed, he didn't have any care in the world, he then smile and said,

"Since that is the case you can take it yourself."

He then turned to the worker,

"Give him the keys to the truck, you can go back to work."

"Okay"

Mr. Worker nodded and handed Walid the keys, then went on his way.

"Okay, let's settle the bill first, then be on our way."

I said, ready to pay the money and go home or to whatever location my father wants to deposit all this fuel.

"Ah! Money and things, you don't have to!"

Said Laheeb while pretending that the money ain't sh*t and there is no need to pay.

"Is that so? Laheeb you are quite generous! Then let's go since you don't want the money!"

I said, then walked away.

"Eh? Ah!"

Laheeb was flustered, not knowing what to do. Thinking to himself,

'This isn't how the script is supposed to go! Shouldn't we go back and forth, then you still insist on paying in the end!?'

We couldn't hold it for too long, looking at his lemon-eating expression, we burst into laughter.

"Hahaha! Laheeb, don't use such pleasantries when dealing with us!"

I said while laughing.

He was confused for a moment then joined the laughter.

"You guys! I am not going to talk any more nonsense with you, come with me to settle the bill before you change your mind."

Still laughing, Laheeb said and started leading us to the office.

By coincidence, I glanced toward the fuel truck we are going to take, then.

*whizz* *whoom*

From the area between my eyebrows, a sudden stream of information came and jolted my brain for a moment causing me to stop. This time the information stream is clearer than the first time, there is no doubt it's real because.
