Chapter 27 - I Just Want To Lose Weight *Munch*

"Walid, *munch* Drive to that pharmacy over there."

I poke Walid beside me and point at a pharmacy 50 meters away.

He didn't move but looked at me with caution and asked,

"What do you want to do there?"

"Oy Oy! Don't think about knocking out medicine randomly!"

Adam remembered how I pounced on the food previously and warned.

I looked at them speechlessly without having any pretext in my defense.

"*munch* Just go there and stop talking nonsense. Since Salem's father didn't warn us against eating, that means it's a normal reaction."

I said with a helpless look. Then considering my current state, I added,

"Maybe whatever happened to me had consumed too much nutritions, that's why I'm so hungry. I feel like everything I eat is digested within a minute."

"I will just buy some nutritional supplements."

They started hesitating whether to let me go after hearing my speculation.

"Then go, let him buy some, if he tries to eat too much we can stop him."

Salem still trusts his father won't omit such a detail unless it's an insignificant one they can solve by themselves, right?

Adam and Walid finally agreed while I just rolled my eyes at them. Why do I feel like a disobedient brat?

Driving the car to the parking lot in front of the pharmacy, I hopped out before they could stop me.

"Hey! Wait!"

Adam shouted from behind while stepping out of the car after me.

"You come, I'm not running away!"

Saying that I push the pharmacy door open.

*woosh*

What a bliss! They have an AC unit here! The business here must be good.

"Welcome."

A mature female voice echoed as soon as the door opened, welcoming me in.

Looking at the source, the pharmacist turned out to be a middle-aged woman in a white coat.

She was looking at the computer screen, knocking up some keys while noting the numbers on the bottle of medicine beside her from time to time. It seems she greeted me without looking.

Adam came from outside right beside me at the moment, I stepped forward to the counter and greeted her.

"Good Evening!"

She finally looked away from the computer and greeted back with a nod.

"Good evening, how may I help you?"

I think for a moment what I should buy then inquire,

"Do you have those nutritional meal replacement jelly that was popular for dieting a while ago? I have been thinking about going on a diet recently."

She looked speechlessly at me as was holding a bag of pastries in one hand while eating with the other. Not gonna lie I felt embarrassed. However, as long as you don't show it you won't lose.

Keeping with her professional attitude, she didn't say anything unnecessary, she nodded at first then shook her head.

"Although we do have them, I don't recommend you to use them to lose weight. They only provide you with basic nutritions you need, but won't make you feel satiated."

I think that is exactly what I need right now. Something with nutrition and won't fill me up too much.

"It's okay, I just want to try for a few days, maybe I will persist."

My current look left her a little bit unconvinced, nevertheless didn't insist.

"As you wish."

She returned to the back and grabbed 9 small packets with different colors and put them in front of me.

"There are 3 types and three flavors of each type, extra vitamins, extra minerals, and the last one has extra protein. As for the flavors, we have mango, strawberry, and grape flavors. You can try buying three packets first, enough for three meals. Which ones would you like?"

I feel sorry for here having to talk too much because what I need is,

"How many packets come in a box?"

She didn't think much and answered,

"Each box has 10 packets, enough for 10 meals."

I nodded.

"Then please give me 9 boxes, 3 types, and three flavors."

She looked at me like I'm a weirdo,

"You don't have to buy too much, if you like it you can come back and buy more at any time."

I have to say, she really has conscious, someone else might think of me as a fat sheep and try to sell me even more. However,

"It's okay, I will share some with my friends."

Looking at the muscle mountain beside me, she didn't want to talk anymore.

She went back to the storeroom to get the boxes, leaving us waiting.

"Why are you buying so much?"

Adam asked me.

"Because I don't know how much I need! *munch* If there are some extras left, we could leave them as emergency food anyway."

I reapplied with a shrug, then I started surveying the pharmacy. The medicine accusation was left until tomorrow, but just in case, I could note the necessary medicines.

"Oh!"

Why haven't I thought about it?

"What is it this time?"

Adam looked at me cautiously. Making sure the pharmacist hasn't returned yet, I look at him with a smile.

"When she goes back, you buy me this, this, this, and this."

Pointing at three bottles of vitamins, minerals, and fibers pills while the last one is a big bottle of protein powder.

"No way, just being here with you is already embarrassing! Didn't you see how she looked at you?"

Adam refused without even thinking.

"What are you embarrassed about, if I wasn't afraid she might refuse to sell me, I wouldn't even ask you."

"And you might not ever see her again in the future."

I tried to convince him again.

*trot* trot*

A sound of wheels turning came from the back. It was the pharmacist pushing a trolly with 9 boxes on it.

"Here you go!"

Parking the trolly beside us, she started registering our bill.

I gave Adam a small hit with my elbow while pointing with my eyes for him to buy the bottles, he hesitated for some time, then bit the bullet and asked for them.

He pretended to look at the chat on his phone and said.

"Can I get a bottle XXXX Vitamins for men, a bottle xxxxxx Minerals supplement, and a bottle of xxxxxxxxx Fibers. Also please give me a 2kg jar of xxxxxx Protein, mine is about to run out."

This time the pharmacist didn't speak, she packaged the bottles in a big bag, then handed me the bill.

"That will be 3069 or 300 if you are paying in dollars."

Did I mention that the country is going throw an economic collapse? One dollar is equivalent to 10.32 of the local currency.

Thankfully, our families are quite well off. We are not considered rich, something of a medium-middle class.

Though the price is still somewhat painful, on ordinary days I wouldn't spend my money on unnecessary things like this.

I stop eating for a moment and hold two boxes in each hand while Adam took the rest. Going back to the car, Salem helped us put them in the trunk while repeating the 'why did we buy too much' talk.

sitting in the front seat again, I put a box of meal replacement jello in my lap and start eating the first one.

The moment the jello hit the stomach I noticed the difference. It's 10 times easier to digest than the pastries and the nutritions are being absorbed in a faster rate.
