Chapter 23 - Are You Going To Slice Us!!!!

"Colonel, what are your orders on this matter?"

The Colonel thought for a minute then ordered.

"Get me a line with the White House as soon as possible."

"Also start writing a report detailing The number of the awakeners and all the abilities possessed by them."

"Don't forget to run some checks to make sure there is nothing wrong with their body, also see if we can find the reason for their awakening."

"Yes Sir!"

Captain Jones saluted then invited,

"Mr. Tulok and Ms. Johana, please come with me to the medical unit to run some examinations on you and make sure you are alright."

However, what he saw were two pale faces. Johana pulled the pepper spray again, holding it in both hands while stammering.

"D.. Do you want to know the reason for the awakening, right? How are you going to experiment on us like they do in the movies where they would slice us up."

"N... No Way! I still haven't married yet!"

As if agreeing with Johana, Tulok with a pale face stood in front of Johana in a defensive poster ready to defend the two of them.

The Colonel was about to explode hearing what Johana said, his blood pressure was rising through the roof, with some faintness threatening to take him to the dreamland.

While the people around him had weird expressions. Straight faces, with the lips squirming unnaturally, shoulders going up and down, and small barely audible snorting sounds.

If you haven't guessed it yet, they were trying to hold back their laughter, afraid of offending the Colonel.

Though that made him even angrier.

Just when he was about to blow up, Captain Gill who had been silent all the time approached the two awakeners slowly, not to provoke their weariness and said,

"You two don't have to worry, I'm also an awakener like you, see?"

Then he jumped and did a double backflip, landing easily as if he did a simple trick.

This managed to relax the two awakeners quite a bit, enough to let Johana lower her pepper spray.

But still, Tulok asked with a doubtful and weary face,

"But did you see the look of the doctors behind you, they look like they are going to eat us at the nearest chance.

Looking back at the hungry eyes, Captain Gill felt a chill spreading through his strengthened body, almost stepping back.

Being pointed out like that made the bunch of doctors extremely embarrassed.

Hearing Captain Gill will be with them, the two awakeners exchanged a look as if asking if they should trust him. After 2 seconds, they nodded at each other in agreement.

You could hear sighs of relief here and there, especially two from both Captains.

Pressing his anger, the Colonel ordered.

"Captain Gill you accompany them with the medical team, as for Captain Jones get me that call with the white house immediately."

"Yes Sir!"

Just as the things were over, and the group was going away, Tulok clutched his stomach and groaned painfully.

"What's the matter!"

"Mr. Tulok, are you okay?"

Before Tulok could reply, Johana also had the same reaction.

"Ms. Johana!"

The doctors clamored around trying to figure out what was going on.

*gurgle*

Suddenly, a gurgling sound came from both Tulok and Johana's stomach, echoing like thunder.

"Hungry…."

"Eat! Give me something to eat! I'm starving!"

The doctors looked at them with a stupefied expression upon hearing that.

Dr. Sith finally reacted.

"It could be that the 'awakening' had consumed too many nutritions from them. Their bodies only registered hunger now."

Dr. Nelson nodded agreeingly then said,

"They should be okay after eating, we could put them on a nutritional solution to quickly replenish their bodies."

If the two were hesitant before, now the hunger made them eager to go with the medical team.

"Go Go! I'm starving to death!"

"Ugh..."

This time there were no hiccups and everything went alright. The three awakeners finally went to have the fr*ckig test with the medical staff roaming around them like mosquitoes, waiting for the chance to take a sip.

The Colonel was handed a phone and started reporting what happened in the base.

"Your base is not the only one to report, the president already knows and we are taking measures. Please wait for further orders."

The person talking to the Colonel on the phone surprised him with this news, so asked again,

"How many people have awakened?", the Colonel asked curiously.

"The numbers aren't determined yet, you will be updated appropriately at the right time."

"Also, the local government will take care of the people with superpowers around your area, you don't have to worry about it."

"Roger that."

Ending the call, Colonel Stedman ended the call and ordered another officer to make sure the base was stable then went outside the conference room.

All of this happened without anyone noticing Dr. Akeel's setting at the end of the conference table.

He stood up and followed the medical team trail, nobody noticing him as he walked as if he was invisible.

As the awakeners were taken away and the excitement was over, Roy finally remembered his supervisor.

"Eh? Where is Dr. Akeel?"
