9 Book 1 - Chapter 9: The Torturous 15 Days and Rewards

While the mother and son observed the guards in reality, the 1,000 guards that logged inside the monster island world, has been suffering for days already.

When they all got into the castle initially, the guard who approached Eric also approached them and gave them the same synopsis of the island's situation. Although the guards knew already the condition and the monster waves challenge, the way they felt about the world they got into was so surreal for them. It felt like they were transported to another realm.

The energy in the atmosphere was also heavy and once they all prepared for the challenge, they all organized themselves like the soldiers they were and positioned themselves outside the castle walls.

The surrounding was eerie, to say the least, and the distance seemed to be rumbling. Then, when the system announced the start of the mortal wave, multiple monsters appeared from the distant in all directions rumbling and running toward the soldiers.

They saw different kinds of monsters and were wondering how this realm was created, but since they were already being attacked by numerous monsters, they forgot the thought and readied themselves to defend the castle walls.

As soon as the monsters were a few distances away, the guards formed their attacking stances and roared their battle cries.

Since the monster levels were only in the mortal realm, with infinite numbers, they still made it hard for the guards to defend the castle walls and after 24 hours of nonstop offense and defense, all of the 1,000 guards failed to defend the castle walls and the monsters penetrated it and the system announced that all of them failed the challenge.

All of them were disappointed, they fought for 24 hours nonstop but still failed to defend the castle walls due to exhaustion. And then, the system resets the challenge again. They were all summoned back to the castle inside. Everything went back to normal, but the guard never approached them again.

They were all shocked and sad that despite the monsters were in mortal realms, with hundreds of thousands up to millions, they can't defend the castle walls for 15 days. They thought that the numbers of monsters were not that many, but reality struck them how hard the challenge was and how painful it was to be attacked by an infinite number of monsters even in the lower realms of cultivation.

As soon as the new challenge started, the guards planned a new strategy to conserve their energies and only use physical attacks to last more time.

They did and when the monster waves started, the guards only used their physical attacks without energies imbued within their weapons. 24 hours, 48 hours, 72 hours, 4 days, 5 days, and the 6th day arrived, the guards were all exhausted to the fullest. They were all on their wits end already and their bodies were so in incredible pain and exhaustion that what made them last til' the 6th day was their will.

After a few more hours before reaching the end of the 6th day, all of them died and failed the mission. The system announced, and they were all got summoned back inside the castle. Although they all looked the same when they first arrived and their energy refilled, their minds say otherwise. The mental pain and exhausted mind stayed.

They never thought that the family princess, the concubine of the emperor of the Dragon Empire would order them to be tortured!

They really regret following her!
