36 Suspicious Person

"Hey Jess, you notice something weird about that one team..."

"Which team?"

"The team that... uh... well they won first place last round."

"What's so weird about them?"

"Well, I can't really describe it, or I can't describe them for that matter. It's almost like I know they are there and that's it. I recognize them when I see them, but I can't for the life of me describe how they look. I can't even remember."

Now that Sasha mentions it, she's right. I can see them, but I don't know what they look like, I recognize them, but how they look is something that I don't know. It's so weird. How did I not notice it before?

I don't know if that's a good way to put it, but whatever. Anyway, long story short, I can see them, but I'm guessing there is some appearance-perception blocking spell on them because no one can tell what they look like, despite the fact we can see and recognize them perfectly.

Anyway, there is also the fact that I didn't even notice how I couldn't remember what they look like. That is also strange, sure you can block someone's perception of you, but making it so they don't realize it is a lot more difficult.

That makes them a lot more suspicious for sure. I mean why would they go out their way to do something like that. Unless they are tremendously ugly, there is no reason to do it, unless that team has something to hide. I can't even remember their names, I just realized that too. This is so strange.

Their names can be written out, but the moment you look away you forget them. I wonder what they are hiding. Well, the next round of dodgeball is starting so I don't have time to worry about that right now.

Might sound stupid, saying that I've already been stabbed, to be more worried about this game of dodgeball, but this dodgeball game can help me root out the person who is rigging the system. And if it really is the suspicious group, which at this point is looking likely, then I will report them to proper authorities.

Seriously, what did you think I would do? I follow the law, thank you very much. Well, at least I do most of the time. I mean technically haven't I trespassed on the International Space Station multiple times? Other than once it wasn't by choice, but isn't it technically still illegal?

Actually, now that I think about it, I should probably tell the police about how suspicious that team is. I mean look, they've probably noticed how suspicious the team is, but it's better safe than sorry right?

The second round of dodgeball starts and interrupts my line of thinking. I instantly run back and set up a field to protect myself with gravity magic.

As I said earlier, I am going to let the rest of the team do their work to evaluate their skill. I carried one round, so I can just use the excuse that I'm letting my MP recharge or something.

As I'm observing how my team is dealing with the other, I see the types of magic that the suspicious team has. One is surprisingly Gravity magic. While obviously they don't have as fine control as me saying I have an innate talent, they are still doing pretty well. The other, the one that isn't tired, has what I'm guessing is Water magic. They are using ice, but it isn't as cold as Ice magic's ice, so it's probably regular Water magic.

Well, I have another way to recognize them now at least. It seems that whatever spell is blocking my ability to tell what they look like doesn't keep me from remembering what magic they use, luckily.

They are doing pretty well, Sasha is using her Transformation magic to increase her senses and dodge the balls as they are thrown at her. The suspicious Water magician made a cannon out of ice and is firing dodgeballs at the other team. And the Gravity magician is increasing the speed of the dodgeballs fired out of the cannon, and making sure that they hit their target.

All in all it's pretty good teamwork. Sasha draws in the hits while the other two take out other members.

A couple of minutes is all it takes for the other team to be down to one person, Carl Flame. I'm honestly surprised.
